I’m glad I found this. I learned last year that I am a descendant of Henri Membertou but sadly my family always denied their Mi’kmaq heritage.

My family just found out recently that my great grandmother was Mi'Kmaq. I'd really love to learn more about that part of my families culture

you were MICMAC, when they ignored your family, our family had them legally trespassed from Kelly's mountain until Juneteenth 1986 under order of judge George Levette

Kwe', me'tawilein? Welieksitpuk! 25% Mi'qmaw and 25% Inuit. with the rest being alot of random white lol. Thank you for this, I am on a journey the past few month trying to reconnect to my culture. Sadly my entire life being cross raced I have been shunned by the Inuit, Mi'qmaw and white Canadians and still feel so lost. This helps connecting my life story I feel is so shattered by the times. Funny the only people to accept me is the new Qalipu tribe which should honestly be a shame on the entire native community. We need to accept that times change and try to teach our languages and traditions to those who will listen. Shame on anyone who shames natives, white people and especially the Qalipu who accepted me as a founding member and will be forever proud of this fact. Wela'lin!

Beautiful story, I like the rhythmic way the family members are introduced.
I only wonder, why *did* Kluskap and his mother have to leave in the end?

Sounds crazy but 7 was always my lucky number. Must have something to do with having Mi'kmaq ancestry 😊❤

Perchance explores the ever broadening idea of “timeless classics” by sharing with you the first 25 performances of artists living and working here in Newfoundland and Labrador. Through their voices we will see and hear stories and plays passed down through the generations from cultures and countries around the world. Some are funny, some are romantic, some are thrilling, and some are instructional - all have captured the imagination of people who have gone before and continue to be passed down through time. Learn what these universal themes reveal to us about being human in The Power of One: World Classics.

The Mi’kmaq are a First Nations/native people of what is today eastern Canada and northeast USA. This is a telling of their creation story.
