You can actually drop in ND filters in the back of the lens. Adorama sells this lens in a kit with four ND filters for the MSRP. Granted, it's not as convenient as having a screw on variable ND, but a workaround nonetheless that video shooters might want
The problem I have with this is that I already own a whole bunch of expensive filters. Also, I’m not sure I can use 2 filters at the same time, to have both an ND filter and a mist filter.
Debating on getting the 14-24 vs the 16-35. I would be using it for both stills and video. If it was just photo, I would be 100% okay with the 14-24. But the fact that I would need it for video too, the 14-24 concerns me with the lack of VND at the front. An ND in the rear would be needed, but that seems annoying to use when shooting all day with it. And I can see it being prone to scratching the front element. But that 16-35 isn't as wide as I want. Jason Elmore 2mm difference in focal length
I love sigma glass over all!
I love my 18-35 f1.8...damn sweet lens. :)
However the range for 16-35 is 19 mm vs 14-24 which is 10mm
So 16-35 is more versatile.
Thanks! I’m gonna get some tacos now
Is there a good way to auto correct/lens profile for distortion in video on the sigma ?
Its obvious than 14mm is wider to 16mm but I don't think anybody want that lens for vlogging imo. It would be great if you compare some pictures side by side at 2.8. Thanks anyway, and keep trying.
I click... I like!
Thanks for watching!
The sigma looks very tempting. But having to buy different nd filters for the back of it. Hmm...
I wouldn't sell my 16-35mm GM for this lens. The 16-35mm is an excellent lens and it allows me to use filters. But, at this price, I might add the Sigma 14-24mm to my kit. I tried the Sony 12-24mm f4 and the flare was a deal breaker for me. And the Sony 12-24mm 2.8 GM is just too expensive.
If you already have a 16-35, I wouldn't bother with the 14-24. Almost redundant.
@@lynneftw I ended up buying the 12-24mm GM. Now I'm thinking about buying the 35mm GM. :)
@@PhotoTrekr The 12-24 is the only lens I'm putting up against the 16-35 before I buy a wide zoom. I've seen some edge issues and chromatic aberration with the tests at the wide end of the 12-24 that I'm not sure I can live with, especially for night sky work, however, I have an 11-16mm lens from my Canon days, and it has spoiled me with interiors. Still thinking on it...
@@lynneftw I have no issues with the 12-24mm GM except for the pulsing. It doesn't want to lock focus and stay put. This hasn't caused a problem with a shot being out of focus. But, it's kind of irritating in a $3K lens. It's a known problem so I sent it back to B&H to have it fixed. After 2 months the lens was returned to me with a note saying there was nothing wrong with the lens. I love the lens, but it still has the pulsing issue.
@@PhotoTrekr Bummer. So you use it for video work then? What I'll likely do is get the 16-35 gm for the wide zoom, and a Laowa 12mm zero D for interiors and tight work.
I am not a professional landscape photographer, so I won't sell the 16-35GM which is more convenient for ordinary people like me.
