@@TheMountainMission-p1w looking back, gear wise is there anything you wish you had took that you really could have used or is there something you thought you needed that you really didn't need? Looks like weather was great for y'all that's always in question as well
@@kylekiziah7550 make sure you bring quality waders. We did best working those River bottoms. I can’t think of anything we should have brought. We were armed to the gills with mosquito spray and never even used it but I think we just got super lucky with the weather! Good luck and hope you tag out!
Awesome man....cant wait to get back there. I didn't rent the truck one of my buddies on the hunt handled all that and he picked it up and dropped it off so I never actually went to the rental place. I would just do a Google search and it should pop up. Good luck hope you get a great bull!
It was out of Fairbanks I don’t remember the name of the outfit we rented from though. One of our buddies in this video is going back next week to do this hunt again and he had to rent a truck out of Anchorage I heard since they were all rented out of Fairbanks already.
Did you guys get the runs eating that fresh caribou ?? Oh boy, me and my buddy chowed out on fresh backstrap and got the shits big time,, they say you need to age it 24 hours or so,,, i guess i believe them,,,,,we were in the west Brooks range in sept,,, we got POUNDED with bad weather,,,12 days out of 13, RAIN,,,,WIND,,FOG,,,33 and 30 mph winds, we watched a black wolf run down a caribou,, that caribou had a good 500 yard lead on that wolf,,,,the wolf closed the gap in about 10 minutes,,, we lost sight when they hit the river,,, took us a hour and 20 minutes to get down there,,,,we were walking the river and here comes that wolf around the bend with a whole back leg of that Caribou in its mouth,,,,,Ka- POW,,, down goes blackie,, me and my buddy have done 3 trips in the brooks and every time we got a wolf,,,,,,Glad you had a great hunt,, i'm going back in sept this year, we are staying 18 days,,, getting old i am, so i'm getting while the getting is good, i spent 21 days on the noatak river on a float in 1984, this will be my 2nd longest hunt, grizz will be on the menu,,,,, Born to Be Wild,,,, Live it up
No we didn't have any issues like that and we ate backstrap the same day we took that first bull...I've never heard of that. We got super lucky with everything...the weather, no hunters, no bugs and four of us tagged out. I keep telling my buddies who went on the trip there's nowhere but down if we go back...we will never have that perfect of a trip on Haul Road. Glad you're going back...I definitely plan to go back maybe next year but this time will do a float hunt down a river for moose and Caribou. Would you recommend a float hunt? Good luck on your AK hunt this year!
