Anyone else use some of these to sleep, cause tbh I find it soothing to listen to horrifying and conceptually beyond our basic understanding of reality stories
I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but I love the world building of the Archon stories. Gaia is still one of my favorites, and I'll always listen to archon files start to finish. Thank u king.
I personally loved Gaia as well, I saved it and give it a listen every once in awhile because it combines some of my favorite things (reverence for nature and deep psionic action). I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one with a very soft spot for Archons!
I love the world building with this one, it uses a ton of science to back up the anomalous nature/history and add to the world, instead of just saying "unknown material" "unidentifiable" or the all too famous [redacted]. I also really liked how the story portrays the Foundation as an evolving institution, one that wasn't very good at its job years prior working with simpler tools and a worse understanding of anomalies. They even got beaten by N*z*s with their research. Each time a researcher figured the puzzle out it felt really satisfying, and it happened multiple times. The ending too was icing on the cake.
Absolutely one of my top 5 SCP’s. Wonderfully written, so much historical and and scientific study and it’s story is woven similar to a Lovecraftian tale. Thank you Volgun for covering this one!
As spooky as this SCP can get, in a weird way the end made it kind of wholesome to me. Cephalopods have their own little personalities, sense of mischief, concepts of teamwork and appreciation. Very curious and prone to wild adventures. So while hyper intelligent/longer lived cephalopods could be very, very alien--knowing the zoological stuff wove a more positive/less scary character into the Tethyans imo. Enjoyed it a lot (THANKS VOLGUN), but honestly my reaction was prob odd.
It made it very... sad. Wistful; a lost family, not unlike ours, that just had ways of communicating unlike ours. It was another culture, a sentient race of PEOPLE. And something, in the deep, in the stars, in the corner of our eyes perhaps, didn't like what it saw. And it came for them. Genesis 2:2-3 And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. Then God blessed.
Not odd! I have always wanted a salt water tank, and a Common Octopus for it! Precisely because of their intelligence and interactive tendencies. I could see the Tethyans being reasoned with, and likely willing to teach what they know. If their mode of communication didn't cause brain bleeds, I should add.
I've always said that I would never eat octopus because I regard them as sentient beings, so it would be like eating a person. The WAY their intelligence manifests is vastly different to ours, sure, but that's our anthropic bias at play. Whoever said our kind of sentience has to be the only kind that counts? They are so alien compared to us, their entire method of thinking would be so incompatible that even if things like psychic ability existed in the real world we probably wouldn't be able to fathom their thought processes. They may not even HAVE thought processes. But in their own way, I believe they are at least as sophisticated as we are, intellectually speaking. It may be that they don't behave in manners we think of as personhood because they completely lack a sense of ego, and as such have not cannibalized their evolutionary autopilot system into a synthetic character they identify as "self", as we have. In this way, although our behaviour is more obviously organized and self-serving, it could even be argued they are more advanced than we are. We're all just chasing our own mental tails, at the end of the day. Building layers of habit like computer programming to perpetuate and advance the evolutionary misstep that was our creation of an ego. A mask we wear to present an image of self to the world and to ourselves, so we can continue to fool ourselves into thinking we can pin down our individuality as if understanding its location on a map, and thereby granting ourselves a point of reference from which we can understand the world around us with greater sophistication. If they don't have that, their understanding can only go so far, at least at the individual level. But WITHOUT the ego, without intercepting the subconscious mind's analyses and attempting to reroute them through that wholly insufficient autopilot program, that was never built for it, maybe we would have advanced even further. What a world that might be. But I imagine to the ego's perspective, that world would look less advanced. Perhaps there would be no structures, no vehicles, no clothing, nothing we from the arrogance of hindsight deign to label as civilized. But allowing our subconscious minds to lead the way, allowing them to interact across subliminal channels without planting our feet and insisting like a petulant child that the flesh should get to decide, maybe that world would be one of greater natural harmony, and a more organic and patient growth to the level of sophistication we have artificially cultivated through the ego. Maybe that's how we would earn the power we now wield with reckless abandon, the spot we have stolen at the summit of the evolutionary arms race. Who is right? I suppose that depends which side the fence you're on. To cephalopods, we're probably very strange creatures indeed. They might see our relentless pursuit of the ego as curiously as the idea of them submitting to the will of one of their tentacles and allowing it to lead them around like a strong dog on a weak leash. How very mindless we mindful creatures must look to one that lives in harmony with all of its components.
I find it interesting how nothing in this was due to any intentional malice or anything designed to be dangerous. They just had beacons transmitting psychic waves similar to their own minds across the planet, and the effect on humans was completely unintentional and it likely never even occurred to them that it could be a problem, let alone that it would.
you should read Children of Ruin, and its sequel. the first is about Space Spiders. The sequel, Space Squid. oh and yea, there's a few Space Humans, struggling with their own bullshit, as usual. Adrian Tchaikowsky
I like the idea of using this hivemind network as a means of creating a way to preserve their civilization through the KPg extinction event (and presumably to avoid this "Beast", whatever that may be) and find a way to restart their society when they were safe. And clearly, once the network understood what it was doing to humanity as a side effect, they fixed the "glitch" in the system and closed the system off from humanity. Using a hivemind as a form of created "afterlife" seems like something George R.R. Martin would write.
It also seems hopeful in a way, while it was originally this unknowable horror that drove those touched by it insane, they were eventually able to expand their knowledge and interact with it in a way that may take humanity to that jump into a truly advanced civilization, and while perhaps it could end up with humanity becoming like them, purposefully devolving themselves to wait for a point when this "beast" was no longer a threat to them, it could lead to at some point in the far future "awakening" alongside this and other species and finally getting to truly know eachother. Or for a more cynical take, humanity in its immense arrogance would believe they could fight this creature and end up extinct, leaving nothing but ruin behind, or killing themselves off before learning to become so advanced as these entities. It's such a good little story in that it sets up the ideas, strings you along as you find more and more threads, until bringing in all these twists away from the classic "unknowable Lovecraftian horror" trope and hitting you with something even more crazy. Giving us a satisfying and understandable ending but still giving us so much more to speculate on. Amazingly written
SCP saying " oh shit, there are other intelligent creatures out there, and we are HURTING them! They might be worth saving, we HAVE to fix this, like NOW!" Makes sense.
This was truly *EXCEPTIONAL.* An amazing reinterpretation of H.P. Lovecraft's work, modernized and refined into something that manages to incite a far greater sense of dread and unknowable terror. Wonderful voice work as always, TheVolgun. You give further life to the SCP omniverse with your admirable skill set.
I realize that the basis of this story is Lovecraftian, however- as a gamer- one cannot help but equate the quadruple-helix description of 4246-2 devices with The Marker in _Dead Space._ *_Altman Be Praised!!_*
Oh hell yeah, Volgun narrating one of my favorite SCPs! I love the final twist on this one so much; it's a really interesting take on the traditional cosmic horror genre, and it raises a lot of intriguing possibilities for where the story might go next!
I think 4642 has affected the band Dethklok 34:14 - Gone are days of Land Empires 34:32 - Release yourself, Drown with me 34:38 - Lungs transform to take in water
About halfway into it, and that's all I could think of. "Go into the Water" was recorded in the Dethsub deep within the Mariana Trench for the band's Dethwater album. Later, someone tried to sue Dethklok because his son listened to the song and actually went into the water to live there, which nearly cost him his life. After numerous jokes made by the members of Dethklok, Ofdensen countered the man by telling him that Dethwater is intended for fish only and should not be listened to by anyone other than fish.' So maybe Ofdensen is a planted SCP agent?
Now this is how you write an SCP. No silly dimension teleportation sci-fi tech silliness to break suspension of disbelief, no "Feed it 12,000 class D a week and pray the world doesn't end" containment procedures. A slow logical buildup as the foundation uses standard scientific methods and some questionable morals to study and gleam the truth about an anomoly. Turning it from something that seems otherworldly and magic into something that, while foreign, is understandable and real. Brilliant work on the writer's part. This is what makes SCP such a facinating setting.
Those are nice but they mainly seem reserved for scps that could use a bit more explanation, while this scp is mysterious at first but relatively straightforward by the end. Scp 3005 definitely needed one because the meaning might be lost on all but the most knowledgeable scp readers, but this one isn't as very confusing and we have a proper understanding of it from the reading alone.
I like how it's just long enough to establish that sex with a female and sodomy are mutually exclusive. Sigh, where was KY jelly when our forefathers didn't need anymore bastards running about? There are two perfectly good holes to choose from, and both are practical.
Cosmic horror of a very Lovecraftian sort. I usually groan when I see this kind of thing dumped into SCP (a bias I developed back when Slenderman stories were all the rage and Lovecraft fans kept trying to force the story into their mythos), but this? This was excellent! First of all, I highly appreciate any story that doesn't just state "oh this object has X effect and X effect is 100% absolute in all circumstances forever and ever". The unkillable lizard in particular has reached that point. When that thing can survive literally changing all the fundamental laws of physics and having the very concept of itself deleted from platonic space, the thought of a vat of acid being able to contain it seems laughable. In this case? There's actually parts of it that can be understood and in believable ways. There's limitations on certain aspects that let us scratch into it and dig a little deeper. It's still ultimately unknowable, but we can dig far deeper than a lot of these stories usually let us, and I'm grateful for it. I did have a funny thought though. With all the different completely unrelated ancient horrors trying to cross over that have all foreseen our doom, it makes me wonder if they're going to find out about each other and fight each other for the right to vanquish us.
I love this SCP. Don't get me wrong, I dig them when they are scary because they mean to be. Peanut or Shyguy are awesome, but there is just something amazing about an SCP that isn't hostile but just harms people because it is so beyond us that we just can't keep up with it. That we are too small or primitive to comprehend them.
This way of doing the text is a big improvement. I would often find myself reading ahead and getting out of sync, then looking back trying to sync back up, causing me to stop listening as much, start missing things etc.
i can definitely see that being an issue, though i think in some places there is actually too little text on screen with this new format. so if i wanted to read text that was spoken a few seconds ago, id have to rewind the video a bit to see it, which is a bit inconvenient. i think making the total text visible at once consist of fewer words but still be a few sentences in length at any given time would be best. a happy medium. either way, only a small gripe really
I love these SCPs that had older records, like, from a Foundation that didn't understand science quite like we do now, and understands more alongside the advance of the outside world's science.
I love it when Volgun does these longer videos. He has a way to make these stories more immersive with his narrations and voice acting. On top of that, an archon entry, which we don't see a lot of. We have been getting variety lately and this is Volgun at his best.
I love your videos man. I have trouble sleeping due to mental issues but your SCP readings help me so much when trying to sleep. Also I love this SCP and am so glad you decided to do it
halfway through dr. freeman's note at the end, it hit me how startlingly well this matches with the whole concept of the department of one. they're nearly the same concept, just across different species, different civilizations, and different time spans, but with a remarkably similar purpose and intent, even if the execution differs in the details.
Loved this SCP when I first heard it from Exploring Series, and love this log as well. It's something different to hear these logs word for word instead of a summary. Even without the high production value put into these, the simplest but most respected value I find in these logs is the inherent effort you can hear being put in the readings.
I for one am excited to meet our new squid friends. Sounds like the transmitter realized it was hurting the humans…and also maybe transmitting to the wrong creature. At least these guys are usually very friendly and sweet if anything they’ll probably be very helpful.
The trouble is a little "dark forest"y. That is, we know they _were_ helpful to each other because they shared a near hive mind. What we _don't_ know is 1. When did they develop that trait? 2. Assuming they didn't start out with it, what did they do before they got it? And 3. What do they do to sapient species that _don't_ have that trait and the social changes that come with it? They might be an entirely peace-loving species... And kill or enslave all of humanity in spite of that due to the danger we pose by _not_ being completely peace loving.
Idk man, Seems like Their comms leaked to human brains pretty much involuntarily And C-16 relayed that really don't want to be bothered right now. They have their own problems that their offsprings are devolving too much, where they just expect it to stop on a certain point and return.back They are very nice neighbours, but they are only neighbours. And they have been living on the block longer than us and definitely can split our brains if they want to And I see that they only want us to not mess the place we both call home while they're solving their own domestics... We definitely should keep in touch with them, a few shared pan of pies would be nice. But I guess we shouldn't bother them a lot? They seem to be very delicate folks
I kinda suspect the issue would be someone on our side firing the first shot and then us getting our brains melted…we all know there are some organizations that would just..attack the poor things for no reason.
I listen to volgun every night to help me sleep and these ones are my favorite. Nothing's better than a good story based SCP. No other creators come close to this level of love, immersion, and detail. I do miss the little comments by Dr Miller here in there. Really helped with feeling like you're a part of this world
This was just neat, I got no other real words for it. It is just a good entry that is just......good. well written, well spoken, neat concept, overall just neat.
Ocean nerd here, really cool that whoever wrote this article chose the Pacific Ocean for this. The Pacific Ocean is the largest ocean on earth, and rich in oxygen content, which allows sea creatures to get much bigger, especially in the case of cephalopods. One of the larger octopi, the giant pacific octopus, has been recorded reaching sizes of up to 600 pounds and about 30 feet across, and the largest squid has been measured at reaching 1000 pounds and 42 feet in length
I adoreeee long episodes. So excited and love the world building for sure. I can vividly picture everything happening as I hear you bring these stories to life with Voice Acting. Any mind bending/trippy stuff is always such a treat. Once again I rarely type stuff, but this, this right here is it. 👍😊
This has got to be one of the best SCP's yet, they bait you into thinking it's another lame Lovecraftian underwater race until slowly divulging small details that lead to the shocking but expected conclusion, would love that this is connected to SCP-2967, and them recognizing the Crows as another "weakened" race they see as a threat, giving the Crows their own version of SCP-4246. On a side note, I'm not liking the new format for the side text, words being cut off lines and the short format makes it seem more like subtitles of a podcast.
This is absolutely incredible. I love the mix of Lovecraft and The Foundations drive to invoke my Thelassaphobia, fascination but ultimate Chapodiphobia, love of Earth History, and obsession with Extradimentional Consciousness. I knew the Thethys Sea was up to unsettling things. Lovely piece of semi-fiction. 😆😱 Oh Subduction, and thine eldrich hidden horrors. How you hunger.
I found you when I looked up SCP-4999 after watching a TH-cam short from another channel explaining SCP-4999 and I've been going down the rabbit hole since
I like the subtitles on this - it’s much easier to read and I appreciate the effort you put into accessibility. I love watching your videos, by far my favorite SCP content creator, phenomenal work.
Hey Volgun, as someone with poor eyesight due to age, I really appreciate you making the words bigger. While I don't read all of them, sometimes I like to go back and read something I didn't quite understand or need to hear again, and making the font big enough for me to see is a gift. Thank you!
Going from newer videos back to an older one, you can really tell how you've improved your voice acting. It's always been great, but it's noticeably better now, and I think you should be proud :)
Interesting change with the text on screen. I know you've said you put a lot of effort into the text crawl with keeping it synced but personally I always listen to these in the background.
Never pays to vacation in R'lyeh, no matter what the cultists tell you. Our squiggly, squid and octopus ancestors and their living computers deserve their rest, their peace and quiet. Our tiny little minds aren't equipped for the contact.
Oh my what a Essington of a post this is gonna take me at least 8 nights to finish. Thank you so much, volgun. I'm really excited to hear this one. I really appreciate what you do here. It's so well done, and I know that you 3d model as well. Everything is just so high quality, and your ability to manipulate your accent is superb. Thank you for working so hard for us.
Or when thry literally can't contain it. They have no way to actually stop this thing and the best they can do is block some of it to specific individuals. And as the one researcher points out, humanity evolved alongside signal and there's no telling what negative effects it might have on themselves if they stop it.
I like the newer style of text appearing as short chunks, sized up for easier reading. It also makes reading along much more enjoyable. Good stuff, Volgun.
Enshrined By an ocean divine Waiting for the truth to come alive Before your own accursed eyes The call The end of it all Death lingers endlessly below Awaiting mankind's fall It comes at last From ages past The madness below Beyond all that we know Will arise Nightmares foretold From days of old The secrets we keep And the dreams of the deep Realized
George R. R. Martin mixed a lot of H P Lovecraft into his world. I feel like this is a realm where the 2 writers are fused into one.... perhaps a touch of Alister Crowley for good....or malign, measure.
I know the game wasn't received well but this gives me serious Phoenix Point vibes. It's my personal headcannon that this explains what happened right before everyone walked into the ocean during the intro of the game.
It stands to reason that cephalopods would have had some opportunity to achieve sapience in some way, given their current level of sentience now and the fact that their brains are so overly complex as to require one per individual appendage, never mind the primary brain governing the rest. And, like Dr. Freeman noted, the fossil record is INCREDIBLY biased against soft-bodied invertebrates, much to the point that finding fossils of cephalopods is very challenging. All in all, a very interesting SCP to consider.
What if the doom they were trying to escape was SCP-3426? What if they became advanced enough, realized that they were at imminent risk of being struck by it, and voluntarily chose to put themselves into stasis in order to keep themselves and the planet from being wiped from reality itself?

SCP-4246-1 Type B and, following decades of research, have been determined to be psi-positive [non-psychokinetic] passive receivers - unwillingly absorbing information via ESP but unable to actively transmit it.
Information regarding SCP-4246-1 Type C requires Level 4 clearance or authorization by Project: Awakened Dreamer director Dr.Joan Henrike.
The earliest known effort to catalog and explain the SCP-4246 phenomena was by English occultist Joseph Adler [1833 - 19211,] leader of the Hermetic Order of Universal Wisdom - an organization devoted to the study and practice of the occult, metaphysics, and paranormal activities during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. devoted to the study and practice of the occult metaphysics and paranormal SCP-4246 The Dreams of the Firstborn Archon.

@eugh9939 that's a huge stretch
Anyone else use some of these to sleep, cause tbh I find it soothing to listen to horrifying and conceptually beyond our basic understanding of reality stories
I'm doing the same lol, cheers from France
👀I thought I was the only one.
Thank you for existing 🍻
its too interesting for me to sleep through it. The Volgun's content gets my brain going more than SCP-4246 C :P
I fell asleep, woke up, and kept listening lol

I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but I love the world building of the Archon stories. Gaia is still one of my favorites, and I'll always listen to archon files start to finish. Thank u king.
I love Gaia because it's one of the only SCP's that actually ends on a hopeful note.
Such a great one I relisten to Gaia a lot, the voice acting is amazing
I personally loved Gaia as well, I saved it and give it a listen every once in awhile because it combines some of my favorite things (reverence for nature and deep psionic action). I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one with a very soft spot for Archons!
Gaia was heavy. I remember crying, or at least tearing up or feeling very moved. It's a beautiful piece.

It sounded like good writing, to be honest.

Good night 😩
Absolutely one of my top 5 SCP’s. Wonderfully written, so much historical and and scientific study and it’s story is woven similar to a Lovecraftian tale. Thank you Volgun for covering this one!
Its actually extremely similar to specifically "call of cuthulu"
It would fit very well as an expansion for "at the mountains of madness".
This was truly *EXCEPTIONAL.*
An amazing reinterpretation of H.P. Lovecraft's work, modernized and refined into something that manages to incite a far greater sense of dread and unknowable terror.
Wonderful voice work as always, TheVolgun. You give further life to the SCP omniverse with your admirable skill set.
I realize that the basis of this story is Lovecraftian, however- as a gamer- one cannot help but equate the quadruple-helix description of 4246-2 devices with The Marker in _Dead Space._
*_Altman Be Praised!!_*

It reminded me of the Lovecraft game Sinking City. There's a quest at the beginning that has similar plot points.
@@brianknapp6215 Thats what i thought too but those were double helix, not quadruple.
Can't be lovecraftian in nature. SCP foundation has Cthulhu in custody, and the poor guy just wants to read his newspaper in peace.
Oh hell yeah, Volgun narrating one of my favorite SCPs! I love the final twist on this one so much; it's a really interesting take on the traditional cosmic horror genre, and it raises a lot of intriguing possibilities for where the story might go next!
I gotta say, I'll support the new format but I wasn't expecting to miss scrolling text. Kinda felt like it fit the aesthetic.
Same. The only suggestion I have would be adding some kind of transition, a dissolve or something?
Actually, I think I'm gonna add that with ffmpeg later...
@@OhhCrapGuy agreed, something a bit more fitting. Idk, the scrolling text was rather fitting. But maybe it should be more like a file?
i notice a few more errors with the center-focused format as well. maybe if he did left oriented
perhaps he can just increase the text size of the usual scrolling format
I think 4642 has affected the band Dethklok
34:14 - Gone are days of Land Empires
34:32 - Release yourself, Drown with me
34:38 - Lungs transform to take in water
The chorus guitar riffs are God tier
About halfway into it, and that's all I could think of.
"Go into the Water" was recorded in the Dethsub deep within the Mariana Trench for the band's Dethwater album. Later, someone tried to sue Dethklok because his son listened to the song and actually went into the water to live there, which nearly cost him his life. After numerous jokes made by the members of Dethklok, Ofdensen countered the man by telling him that Dethwater is intended for fish only and should not be listened to by anyone other than fish.'
So maybe Ofdensen is a planted SCP agent?
You going to the BABYKLOK concerts this winter?
Now this is how you write an SCP. No silly dimension teleportation sci-fi tech silliness to break suspension of disbelief, no "Feed it 12,000 class D a week and pray the world doesn't end" containment procedures. A slow logical buildup as the foundation uses standard scientific methods and some questionable morals to study and gleam the truth about an anomoly. Turning it from something that seems otherworldly and magic into something that, while foreign, is understandable and real. Brilliant work on the writer's part. This is what makes SCP such a facinating setting.
When you rip off HP Lovecraft you are gonna have a leg up on the competition😊
I miss your post credit analysis, it's a nice touch for the content creator to have some feedback on what they think of the story.
There’s just something about noticing an SCP video from TheVolgun drop and then seeing it’s over an hour of content that fills my heart with joy.
AN HOUR?!?! Today we have been blessed.
❤ Amazing video as always my man. Have a good day.
Also appreciate the big text ❤️
its not like an hour long videos are rare loll but they are praised to be back
I like how it's just long enough to establish that sex with a female and sodomy are mutually exclusive.
Use of word wrap might be prudent.
i can definitely see that being an issue, though i think in some places there is actually too little text on screen with this new format. so if i wanted to read text that was spoken a few seconds ago, id have to rewind the video a bit to see it, which is a bit inconvenient. i think making the total text visible at once consist of fewer words but still be a few sentences in length at any given time would be best. a happy medium. either way, only a small gripe really

I find this interesting, because the otherworldly nature of these SCP's does the opposite for me.
Have you ever tried ASMR? His videos also make me sleepy, but that's because it relaxes me, like ASMR does. Maybe soft-spoken videos could help you :)

halfway through dr. freeman's note at the end, it hit me how startlingly well this matches with the whole concept of the department of one. they're nearly the same concept, just across different species, different civilizations, and different time spans, but with a remarkably similar purpose and intent, even if the execution differs in the details.
I hear this SCP as Nathan Explosion. He says, "go into the water. Live there, die there." Then Skwisgar comes in with a blazing guitar solo.
At least these guys are usually very friendly and sweet if anything they’ll probably be very helpful.
to quote the exploring series; "for personally, I too welcome our new Architeuthis overlords."
Idk man, Seems like Their comms leaked to human brains pretty much involuntarily
And C-16 relayed that really don't want to be bothered right now.
They have their own problems that their offsprings are devolving too much, where they just expect it to stop on a certain point and return.back
They are very nice neighbours, but they are only neighbours. And they have been living on the block longer than us and definitely can split our brains if they want to
And I see that they only want us to not mess the place we both call home while they're solving their own domestics...
@@AStrangeWindmill or perhaps they won’t even see us as a sapient being due to being incapable of communicating.
You have no idea how much I needed this as a distraction. An hour where I can listen and forget about my problems is a blessing ❤️
Interesting to hear this from a different perspective than @TheExploringSeries from a year ago. Great work as always.
I listen to volgun every night to help me sleep and these ones are my favorite. Nothing's better than a good story based SCP. No other creators come close to this level of love, immersion, and detail.
I do miss the little comments by Dr Miller here in there. Really helped with feeling like you're a part of this world
Very good job making a Lovecraft style SCP. And amazing job at investigating it from a modern perspective.
the thumbnail is insanely eye catching. good work!
Wow... Movie length, as usual I will be saving this til tonight for my before bed treat. Thanks for posting. 😸
This was just neat, I got no other real words for it. It is just a good entry that is just......good. well written, well spoken, neat concept, overall just neat.
Beautifully presented. I've ADHD and it takes a lot to keep my attention for 74 minutes but this one nails it :)
Thanks so much for putting in the work to turn these into audio logs to listen. It's given me great amusement
I adoreeee long episodes. So excited and love the world building for sure. I can vividly picture everything happening as I hear you bring these stories to life with Voice Acting. Any mind bending/trippy stuff is always such a treat. Once again I rarely type stuff, but this, this right here is it. 👍😊

Very nicely done, loved the audio effects on the recordings!
Now wait a damn minute....
Mmm my weekly hour and a half scp podcast episode
Love it
An hour-long video?! Man, we must have done something heroic in our past lives to deserve this! :D
The change to how text is displayed on screen is a much appreciated change! I always like to read along as you narrate and this helps immensely:)
Oh Subduction, and thine eldrich hidden horrors. How you hunger.
The development of this story from the 1930s to the time of Dr Freeman was brilliant!
Kind of figured they were cephy near the end haha.
I found you when I looked up SCP-4999 after watching a TH-cam short from another channel explaining SCP-4999 and I've been going down the rabbit hole since
Thank you for another long read! These are my favorites.
I figured you had a long vid in the works, gonna be getting me through an hour of work today, thanks for your hard work.
I love the new captions on the side it's so much easier to read along
I like how the foundation didn't know that tectonic plates were a thing untill 1956.
I came for a good old Lovecraftian horror but I ended up with the Dark Forest hypothesis in action. 😂
I like the subtitles on this - it’s much easier to read and I appreciate the effort you put into accessibility.
I love watching your videos, by far my favorite SCP content creator, phenomenal work.
The last time I was this early, the Red Right Hand was still overtly working for the Foundation...
I love the longer ones, thanks for the hard works.
Hey Volgun, as someone with poor eyesight due to age, I really appreciate you making the words bigger. While I don't read all of them, sometimes I like to go back and read something I didn't quite understand or need to hear again, and making the font big enough for me to see is a gift. Thank you!
We are blessed with the quantity of your huge and pleasurable output. Thanks!
Going from newer videos back to an older one, you can really tell how you've improved your voice acting.
It's always been great, but it's noticeably better now, and I think you should be proud :)
Excellently done long form. And my favorite topic!

Archon class is when the foundation COULD contain something but chooses not to.
Or when thry literally can't contain it. They have no way to actually stop this thing and the best they can do is block some of it to specific individuals. Over an hour long. Nice. Me and my wife relax to these each night.
Not gonna lie, I clicked because I thought it was a Starcraft video. Still loved it
It stands to reason that cephalopods would have had some opportunity to achieve sapience in some way, given their current level of sentience now and the fact that their brains are so overly complex as to require one per individual appendage, never mind the primary brain governing the rest.
And, like Dr. Freeman noted, the fossil record is INCREDIBLY biased against soft-bodied invertebrates, much to the point that finding fossils of cephalopods is very challenging.
All in all, a very interesting SCP to consider.
I love thalassomania so much! Thanks for covering one of my favorite scps.

What if the doom they were trying to escape was SCP-3426? What if they became advanced enough, realized that they were at imminent risk of being struck by it, and voluntarily chose to put themselves into stasis in order to keep themselves and the planet from being wiped from reality itself?
Then why waiting? My theory - they hiding from 3125 all this talking about "light" and "staying in the dark" saying to me about Fifth God.
