The low end is really good, and it can pull wheelies. It also climbs hills easily. I weigh 190-200 pounds and I prefer it when the scooter rips off the line, so that’s usually how I set them up. This one could probably be bumped up to a 0.850-0.900” spindle and be ok, but it probably won’t rip from a stop. If I were at sea level it would probably need a 0.900” as a 0.800 would be dangerously torquey.
The most important mod is to lower the pop off pressure to ensure lots of fueling. Other than that I am running a spiral diaphragm for ethanol resistance, but to be honest you might be better off running the stock diaphragm and just changing it every few months.
@@rogermarcel what is the target pop off pressure your looking for? I have been trying to modify a few different walbro carbs to run on methanol, possibly glow fuel if it works. The biggest problem I run into is that I have to modify the inlet needle orifice size which makes it very difficult to get the needle to seal correctly especially if using low pressure lever springs. I have tried to modify a few wt668s and they didn't work out, the inlet needle was too small and after opening the orifice I couldn't get the needle to seal, so far I have modified a wa167 and it works ok, the wa167 uses the larger style inlet needle so after opening the inlet orifice up to roughly .064 I could still get the needle to seal with around 14-16psi pop off, I couldn't find any good info online about what is optimal pop off pressure.
@@briang4470 methanol is a whole different animal. You will need a meth specific carb to get the right fuel flow. You can get away with E85 because it doesn’t need to run quite as rich a methanol so a regular carb is ok with just a pop off change. I usually set my pop off somewhere around 18PSI.
@@rogermarcel I actually have a working wt-499 alcohol carb, and it does work well. But they are next to impossible to find anymore, they haven't been produced in many years and all vendors that have a listing are out of stock, so you can only find old stock from time to time on eBay or forums. Because of that reason, I have been trying to find a more common readily available carb like the 668,813, or 990 to modify to work with methanol. The biggest issue is that every orifice in the carb has to be enlarged and one of the biggest issues I have is that the factory rubber check valves inside are too restrictive so I have been having to remove them and run without which probably isn't the best idea but it works.
Hey Roger super nice 🛴 I’m definitely subbed please upload more and porting tips 🤘
Wow awesome I didn’t know you had a TH-cam, subscribed!
Followed the build on ig. Sick afff 🔥
How the low end on this is it horrible or not noticeable? Since you have a bigger spindle .

What has been changed/modified in the carb to work with e85?
