I don't know much about VW vans or how to work on them....but I really enjoy watching how thoroughly you explain every step so people like myself can try it..... Thx dude!
Good information in this video! Upgrading your brakes is always a good idea. The wagenswest disc upgrade kit looks to be top-notch quality thanks for sharing!
Come on Mitch, do discs in the back! You've come this far, I promise its worth the $$ in the end, especially in emergency braking! PS: Paint those rotors with caliper paint! The pad will clean the braking surface, but its about coating the areas of the disc that don't get wiped by the pads, so they don't rust and rot
Great vid, thanks. I'd have thought that fitting the kit wouldn't have needed any metal removal to fit. Thing is now you'll never experience the joy of front drum brakes on a bus and thinking 'will it ever stop?'
Mitch are you going discs all around the Kona?? Oh and just a suggestion I've always put a thin coat of anti-seize on the wheels mounting plate that way when you go to take the wheels off later they won't be rusted or welded to the plate. I've done it with all of my clients' cars and when they come back in for a brake job I don't have to deal with wheels stuck onto the hub.
Ron Consumer Hey Ron, I decided to do just in front. Drum in the back. Maybe disc in back in the future. Great tip, thank you for that! I will remember next time 😄👍🏼
@@MicBergsmaexcellent job just remember you don't have to paint the whole hub with anti-seize just where the wheel and bolt holes will be touching the hub 👍
Man, that bus going to stop on a dime but I do recommend you clean the brake rotors with brake cleaner before you take it for the first drive. Greasy hands and natural oils from hands will decrease the performance in the brakes. Great work, cant wait to see the finished product.
was it in the instructions to apply teflon tape to the threads? i'm pretty sure brake fluid destroys teflon tape and it could get inside the caliper causing problems.
My friend! grinding is wrong, you had to use an adapter piece together to install the caliper. Grinding job narrowed the cross section. Shorten the life of the part.
Şükrü Demirci hey. Wagenswest added metal piece on it and he told me to grind that piece to give clearance, didn’t even touch the spindle piece, only on new added metal slab on it
You make it look so easy, Mitch!

Great job on installing the front brake and when you had to grind the spindle down it looked like it was made that way.

Manolo Noriega Yes that’s what I want! Thank you for the tips! I will remember to do that! 👍🏼
Honestly, even if you don't, brakes get so hot that within the first few stops it will burn right off...
Cool 😎 looking brakes
mokokawi 👍🏼👍🏼😍
Nossa... O cara diminuiu a resistência da manga de eixo! Assim fica arriscado quebrar ao passar em buraco.
Muy bien gracias desde puerto Rico la isla del Caribe
Great instruction!
Brian Burns Thanks Brian!
The real question is ...
Better than AC industries kit?
Nice video man... I'm from philippines hahaha
Thanks Bean! Didn't know that you are from Philippines! I thought Europe 😜

Yes it's on wagenswest website
@@MicBergsma huh that's interesting
Whew hard job. 👍

Fantástico!!
Fantastic!!!!
Awesome video mate, did the discs make the wheel offset any wider?? Are you using 15" wheels? 🤙
Thank you! Not at all, still same offset like stock and yes using 15" wheels

Muito bom aí conhece....
For the people that read the comments I would go for a beveled edge on the inside of the disc brakes not the suspension. 🤬🤔🧐
How much is kit
not sure I'd want to grind down my spindle just to make the rotor fit.
