in hindsight as an adult nearing 2 decades later, I was on x's side with the whole friendship and peace as a kid. but redips wanted freedom, he wanted choice and to have control over the destiny of the reploids. replace reploids with people and he wanted freedom for his people. it's a tough choice of peace vs freedom, complacency vs agency. he was megalomaniacal for sure, to be master of the universe was a bit much, but I resonate with him now more than ever with that last speech.
For the sake of fighting more and more. The moment you leave the battlefield, your soul will be left behind, for that is the only place where there is a purpose for you.

And since this game clearly doesn't take place during the events of Zero, it's a different timeline. Of course, there's also the fact that Capcom themselves stated it's in a different timeline than the rest of the Megaman Games: megaman.fandom.com/wiki/Mega_Man_X:_Command_Mission#cite_note-1

Sword Blade They are hidden behind lock doors in the prison and ice areas, but you can only get the keys by using the deployment system (talk to Nana to have her sent robots to in area to find rare items.)
Sad... I have finished the game but barely remember it at all. It wasnt bad at all either. I just remember that my team was zero (with black armor (I prefer is original over this vampire like version.)) x (with ultimate armor) and that ninja girl that could go quicksilver.
Marino is by far my favorite character of the game!! Too bad she pretty much NEVER APPEAR in cut scenes once you recruit her. She appears only once actually at that Helipad ambush attack. But she's still playable all the way through and contributes to the team like crazy! That's all that matter after all lol. But playing without her is really hard! Especially in the final boss stage! She's truly talented.

IMO, the story and atmosphere were both really good in this game. But with that said, it *is* weird how they completely forgot about the other party members while writing the last chapter. Could've just been a budget issue, though.
As soon as you form X, Zero, Axl party the other characters ( minus Spider til he dies lol geezzz wonder why ) are almost at nonexistent in cutscenes. Which is a bummer. Either budget issues, or deadline issues, or purely simply laziness. I guess we will never know. But at least they're still playable to the fullest which counts the most lol. Marino being my favorite character! Thank goodness she survives this whole war anyhow! Just wish they worked on her character a lot more after recruiting her though.
