Glad you enjoyed climbing in my home state! Mansfield holds a special place in my heart. People out West love to rag on East coast mountains for not being very high, but the climbs are rugged and you really feel like you earned the view at the top!
1:37 We need more Ben/Sachi content IMMEDIATELY. 1:45 Easy Toledo 5K 3:30 That GoPro hat look is iconic. You might be ahead of the latest trend. 4:23 What is all this waterfall? 6:03 Always prioritize being cool. 😎 7:45 Drip king 8:38 Hopefully you weren't soaked from this for the rest of the hike. Always bring spare socks. 13:58 Mount Rainier vlog when? Great irl vlog content, hope to see more of it in the future! Stockholm & Las Vegas vlogs next month? 👀
The mountains of northern New England (and upstate New York) are a special place. What they lack in pure elevation they make up for with sheer ruggedness and insanely unique biomes. That sign you saw showed how it was only 3.1 miles to that state park, but it can be a grueling 3.1 miles, especially when it's as wet as it's been this summer. I'm impressed that you chose this as your first "big" mountain hike. It can be quite tough if you're not used to it and conditioned. You never know which wet rock your boot is suddenly going to slide on, and in my experience, those wet tree roots will invite you to step on them and then immediately try to throw you to the ground haha. Congrats on the high point! Looking forward to more of this content.
That was really cool, thanks for taking us with you. Glad the cloud blew away for you when you got to the top! And congrats on visiting the contiguous 48!
Mt Mansfield was my first high point! It’s a great view and if you enjoyed this then you’re going to love Mt Washington too. The mountains in the Northeast might not be as tall as out west, but the rocky challenging trails and the views make them just as awesome IMO 😊
Next up Denali??? On a side note, shouldn't be too hard to get to the high point of Australia (Mt. Kosciuszko) since theres a simple trail all the way up. Good goal to have when you get to visit down under. Your High Point series inspired me to make at least two videos so far, covering the highest points of Australia and Denmark. The highest point of the Faroe islands looks pretty sick and is definitely on by bucket list.
Very cool - I am a big high point nerd. Black Mesa in the Oklahoma panhandle is the most underrated high point hike that I have done. I highly recommend if you get the opportunity someday. If you ever do that one, make sure you hike about 1/4 mile south of the high point marker to check out the view off the edge of the mesa into the Cimarron valley.
This was awesome! Really cool to get to experience this hike + the views without actually having to climb it myself lol. I love hiking, but man the uphill is brutal. Would love to see you do more of these! Also, quick tip: while not stylish, trekking poles might be a good investment in the future for any slippery parts. Saved me on my last hike when I needed to walk through a river
Fun video! Different than the usual Geoguesser videos but very enjoyable. I had looked into that about 5 years ago when I was in Vermont but I’m way too incredibly out of shape to even attempt that. I usually do trails that are flat or very minor inclines but I wish I had the will power to push through a hike like that. Mad respect bro. My personal best was the main trail of Beacon Rock State Park in Washington along the Columbia River gorge area. But that only goes up like 900 feet and is mostly all just switchbacks and stuff for around a mile. That almost killed me but was worth it for the views. Looking forward to seeing your next journey.
Glad you finally made it to my home state! Mansfield is a wonderful hike. Unfortunately there was a lot of rain all summer so there weren’t many good hiking days
the only high point that i have been to was the top of Mt. greylock in Massachusetts which was awesome, its a very scenic and easy drive pretty much to the top, and i'd recommend going during mid october so you get to see those colorful trees :)
I've been to Mount Mitchell (NC) and Clingman's Dome (TN), but not the one in my own state that you've been to, Sassafras Mountain (SC), LOL. Many years ago I was going to go there on a date with a girl to climb and picnic, but that day it decided to monsoon, so we both said, "Nope" and went to Red Lobster instead.
Didn’t realize until just now that the bluegrass song “high on a mountain top” is actually about getting incredibly baked on Mansfield. Thanks for that.
Guadalupe Peak in Texas, A great place to start knocking out high points in the western US. A challenging day hike, but you don't have to worry about the altitude since it's lower than the other western highpoints. And you can do it in the winter when many other highpoints are inaccessible from snow.
That's awesome! Vermont is amazing. I was there earlier this summer and also went up to Mt. Washington in New Hampshire. I love the look of the alpine level rocks...reminds me of Norway!
I am sitting on my couch, watching this video and also looking out my balcony at Lake Champlain and the beautiful Mt. Mansfield. Glad you enjoyed the climb!
congrats on making it to the top and visiting all of the lower 48!! the view looked incredible. also, your cats are sooo cuteee, hope to see more appearances from them and also more vlog content like this in the future!
Man, I love watching all your achievements and accomplishments. I've been subbed to you for a few years now, and as a prior midwesterner (Toledo, OH to Knoxville, TN) You make me really proud of home, you seem like such a chill guy with amazing knowledge and I love seeing you travel and visit places!! I don't know if you've ever done a meet and greet but man, next time there's a convention or something you should totally plan one! I'd love to meet ya bro 🙏!
Congrats on completing the lower 48! Burlington is a neat place, I've spent a couple months in that area. For the non-48 I still have Alaska left but want to road trip there. Would be cool to see all the various sights along the way.
welcome to vermont!!! Rember switch backs are for the weak and boulders are the best If you ever dare to return you should do the Hellbrook trail out of smuglers notch... Its short and defintly not a steep river i promis
Glad you had fun in VT! I live in NH but my parents live in VT so I visit a lot and love it so much :) Definitely experienced a true New England hike with all the boulders and tree roots!
Good video! As a regular hiker in the adjacent white mountains, I definitely cringed a bit at the jeans!!! Could definitely give a good hike for Washington, Katahdin, or Marcy if you’re ever back in the north-east!
Mount Katahdin in Maine is an absolute monster as well as being the state HP it is the terminus of the Appalachian trail. Mount Marcy in NYS is excellent too
Rainbolt: climbs highest mountain in Africa Chicago Geographer: climbs highest mountain in...Vermont Just kidding. This is totally legit, actually looks like fun, and you did it all yourself. Good choice of peaks too, for prominence, getting above the treeline, and being able to hike it in a day, but also not just drive up it.
A puddle: "Disgusting." LOL. Hiking over some rock face: "This is nuts. This is madness". LMAO. Water on the trail: "This water looks so delicious, but I know people have been putting their feet in it, so I'm not going to drink it." I'm rolling on the floor. Well, you made it and were happy, so good for you. Next time bring water, an essential for any hiking. Drinking from puddles is a very bad idea, even if people have not put their "feet" in them.
Fun fact: Mt Mansfield and Ben Nevis are part of the same ANCIENT mountain range! Both the Appalachian mountain range in the US and the mountains in the Scottish Highlands were once part of the Central Pangean Mountains. They're some of the oldest mountains on Earth, and they were once as tall and pointy as Everest and the Himalayans!
Glad you enjoyed climbing in my home state! Mansfield holds a special place in my heart. People out West love to rag on East coast mountains for not being very high, but the climbs are rugged and you really feel like you earned the view at the top!

Thankfully my boots are thoroughly waterproof so not a drop got in them!

Awesome journey! i hope to see you climb guadalupe soon!
Only people who can pronounce it are allowed to climb it :(

Great video CG! Hopefully you can come to Scotland some time, we've got some beautiful hiking spots. Beautiful cats too!
Pretty cool hike. The Disc Golf World Championship was just held at Smuggs on the east side of Mt Mansfield 2 weeks ago.
aww you have a cute cat 1:05
oh lol you mentioned them later

That there water in the path reminds me so much of Swedish spring, when the melting snow soaks *everything*
Didn’t realize until just now that the bluegrass song “high on a mountain top” is actually about getting incredibly baked on Mansfield. Thanks for that.
I really enjoyed watching this. I love going on hikes and seeing this just made me want to go on one right now

YES. MORE.
Really enjoyed the travel vlog.
Would love to see more high points. Do Mount Sunflower in KS!
Awesome video Gavin, loved seeing this! Really good for your first vlog
K2 when?
In reality you should try Eagle mountain in MN, it doesn’t look too difficult though I wouldn’t know because I’ve never been there
Haha, that was awesome! Sometimes I forget that people haven't experienced alpine terrain before. It's pretty great 😁
Looked like a real lofty climb for 1400m...can't wait for further highest point installments.
It was definitely more intense than I expected

Thats awesome man! Congrats!
i live right at the base of the mountain! i try to go up once every few weeks! such a good hike
Mount Marcy in NYS is excellent too
Wow this irl content hits so well. Nice summit CG.
Flying over Toledo Ohio! Vermont looks so pretty
Awesome video, clicked immediately. Did not disappoint. Keep up the awesome work CG
Awesome video CG! Looking forward to some more vlogs coming soon I hope!
really enjoyed your vlog!
On a sidenote: Thank you for converting figures in meter and celsius - from literally everyone outside of the us
Mt. Marcy will take you on a similar journey, but a much longer hike. If you enjoyed this hike with its views, the Adirondacks will not disappoint!
love the views and the Kippas 🤩Great vlog!
wonderful vid as always, would love to see more vlog content like this
The mountains in Colorado, Idaho, Wyoming and Utah regions would be a great sight to see
Just want to appreciate the custom captions! Really nice to see
Great video, hope to see more travel vlogs in the future!
You hike like I hike 🙂 Loved meeting your cats!
For such a low elevation mountain, this one seems very exposed. Wonderful view across the forests!
Somebody I think is cool going somewhere I know is amazing. Epic
Great video, love seeing my state in videos!
Loved this video! Parts of the trail early on reminded me of Fundy National Park here in New Brunswick, which I’ve visited countless times!
8:09 Flooded World!
Congrats on making it to the top, huge achievement!! Absolutely beautiful up there, would love to go one day for myself!
great vlog! and great cats
great vid! i wish i had more of these hikes in my area, but unfortunately souther wisconsin isn't exactly the best for that 😅
Can't wait for you to get to the west coast and the Rockies, may make you want to leave the midwest!
Great video! Congrats on getting that lower 48 completionist achievement and reaching the summit!
This was awesome! Definitely nothing to be embarrassed about! Climbing is hard. I definitely couldn't have done that lol. Congrats!
Now, you just need to do your own straight line mission.
Should have done Straight Line Mission across Mt. Mansfield.
@@DoiInthanon1897 That's definitely an idea; however, as GeoWizard has shown, straight-lining it across a mountain can be very dangerous.
This deserves more views, I would like more
Mt Marcy isn't too bad of a hike steepness wise, but it's 15 miles so it will take anywhere from 7-12 hours depending on your speed
amazing vid, vt has a really cool high point
yooooo vlog content is good!
Good luck on Denali 😂😂
please make more travel vlogs like this!!!!!!
So cool, loved it! 👍👍👍👍👍
Looks like a great day out!

just fyi you can drive up mansfield.
Height same as Ben Nevis. Interesting
