I played 'The Wayfarer' on my live broadcast yesterday, as it's my latest tune and it has a certain haunting quality to the melody. I have tried to work out the notation, but am finding it seriously difficult to do, only managed to work out the A section so far, but the B section has got me a bit foxed.
On my next live broadcast, I will play this tune again and try and talk a little about the way it is played.
The second tune - Wild Steed, has been around for a while and I composed that in 2019 and is a straight forward jig. Once I have figured out Wayfarer, I will post the music notation to both tunes.
Let's hope I can figure the first one out.
I would encourage you to try to learn to play these tunes by ear if possible, because it makes your performance sound so much better.
Here is the musical notation for anyone who feels that it might be useful:
    Wayfarer:yt3.ggpht.com/...
    Wild Steed:yt3.ggpht.com/...
I now have a simple paypal account at www.paypal.me/...
If you wish to show your support for my channel and the music I freely share.
A big thank you to those viewers who have already been kind enough to already show their appreciation.

Lovely, the Wayfarer sounds so haunting! I really like how smooth the transition into the next song is, amazing work 💗

@@peakfiddler Would you consider a tutorial on these? I'm still a beginner and can't quite figure out music notation on my own yet, but I find your tutorials (and your begginers lessons as far as I've come along them!) to be very enjoyable, even those I cannot follow yet.

This is a beautiful melody. Very moving..I love Wild Steed too.
Wouldn't it be amazing though to have a piece of software that worked out the notation as you played. I really do appreciate the time you spend working out the notation. It's so valuable. I think with time I can learn to play it by ear. Not that good yet!

I did find one once, but it added too many tiny notes and looks overly complicated, so I now do it all by long hand, but it's easier to read.

Just posted the notation in the community section Marcia, I struggled to get my head round the Wayfarer, but today it all fell into place and took very little time to notate. The link is in the video description if you have difficulty locating it.

Already tabbed out the wayfarer, that string crossing from the D to E string is tricky

Love the sound. Are those gut strings you're using? If so , what is the make?

    • @peakfiddler
      @peakfiddler  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Sorry to dissappoint, I use Pirastro Tonica Medium gauge, but I like it once they reach 6 weeks old and become less bright.
