Comfort is very useful for road trips when you set the cruise and following distance. If you don't have Comfort selected, every time your set speed is faster than the car in front of you, when they move out of your way the car accelerates too aggressively up to the set speed. With Comfort, once the road opens up the cruise will gently take you to the set speed. Otherwise, every time traffic bobs in and out of your lane in front of you, the car is gunning it and you're wasting gas for nothing.
Ive found on my 2018 S3 that "auto" mode is basically the default "middle" setting. It revs out higher and gives me more boost after 4000 RPM compared to "comfort", the throttle is a bit more sensitive to input on "auto" mode compared to "comfort". So, auto is a nice balanced mode the way I see it. Dynamic of course is ferocious power at all times LOL, I get into trouble REALLY fast in dynamic, only use if I know I am going to race. Comfort I only use on long highway rides. In any mode though, my S3 is incredibly fun to drive because there is so much power and it handles extremely well.
I'm in a city and use comfort mode most of the time as I can't drive that fast anyway. It makes for a smooth and dignified drive. I switch to dynamic on the highway - love hitting the on-ramp and letting the car take off.
I use comfort four when I'm taking long trips on i-95 or going cross-country and it's basically just what it sounds like, comfort and it gives you the best and most comfortable ride experience imo.
comfort changes the steering ratio in opposite of dynamic. dynamic is less wheel turn for a corner, comfort is more wheel turning for the same corner. The are many more things like shift moment suspension exhaust etc check your manual
thank you for this. i recently leased my second audi & didn't understand the functions. i keep it in comfort because dynamic drains the gas fast. but the performance is worth it.
Audi performance and handling is great! I miss that because I’m driving a Jetta now….so far no electronics issues with the Jetta though but it’s such a boring car to drive.
Comfort mode for me is anytime I’m traveling. But a quick 15 min drive to the gym is dynamic. Auto is when it’s a drive under 45 min and you don’t know what you’ll want ;)
Love these comments - not a single shred of fact to support what anyone is saying. Subliminal suggestion maybe? Oh dynamic must be faster cos it’s called ‘dynamic’…. Really helpful. Where’s the facts and figures
I know there's no video Comfort is good if you're driving in the city cuz you'll burn less gas and still have power and I noticed that cuz if you keep it in Comfort mode even if you give it a little gas and get on it your gas it tells you that you're getting like 26 Mi to the gallon 20 mi to the gallon even if it's in the city if you keep it uncomfortable if you put it in Dynamic even if you're driving slow you still getting very low gas mileage so if you worry about your gas store in the week and you live in town you're driving into town every day comfortable will save you a lot on your gas
This is well-said and perfectly explains why to use comfort mode in an Audi! Thank you very much for sharing. The Audi was great for comfort and performance but I drive an Acura Integra now.
I use comfort because there’s no need to waste that much gas just driving around. At $5.50 a gallon with a V8 S5, I spend $75 every 4-5 days in normal mode. Dynamic mode is worse. I have to fill up every 2 days.
YIKES! Since I filmed this video, this car became riddled with electronics issues. Long story short, I got out of it when used car prices went ballistic and purchased a Jetta as an interim ride. That car is boring and lacks performance but when I put it on Eco Mode, I get well over 40MPG. I'm thinking about picking up a BMW 2 Series M (without run-flat tires) next.
Not everyone buys an Audi as a performance car and the Q3 for example, certainly is not. My wife takes to kids to games with hers. Even in Dynamic mode it's not a performance car with the 2 Liter Turbo engine. She is fine with Comfort mode. I use it in Dynamic but find that shifting gears myself provides better results: higher revs.
Honestly I was looking for the comfort setting because I don’t want to pull into work everyday with an annoyingly loud engine. I work in tech so a loud car just brands me differently and I keep a different persona for work lol
The tech unfortunately ruined this car for me. Handling, performance, comfort a d styling were all great but the electronics failed resulting in an “SOS” error.

@@selimyetkin5664I have a 2023 a3. I was on auto but didn’t really feel fast. I am on dynamic now. But I leave I’m drive. So if I put in comfort it’s the same? Do you go in between sport and drive? I’m new to Audi. So not sure what best way to drive. I do outside sales so don’t want it killing gas but also not slow. Can you let me know. Can I go in sport mode in any driver mode? That confuses me
I think I'm right in saying that Sport mode refers to the powertrain/transmission. Selecting dynamic mode normally automatically allocates Sport Mode for the transmission. However by using the shifter you can change your transmission mode no matter what drive select mode you are in i.e you can switch D or S transmission modes in confort, auto, dynamic or individual drive select options. Please let me know if this correct.
Thats also my question. Doest slapping the shifter down make it go into dynamic + sport transmission ? Or does it just tweak the transmission? When I wanna change quickly from whatever mode to dynamic to I have to click through all modes ? Or do I just move the gear stick down? 🤯
In dynamic the throttle response is faster. So you have to push the throttle less to get the same acceleration. The engine's horsepower remains the same.
To my knowledge that's not an Audi drive mode selection. I think that Audi launch mode entails turning of traction control, kicking into sport mode and then mashing the brake before releasing to accelerate rapidly from zero mph. I've never tried Audi launch. Have you?
@@IrixGuy I just got my s5 Cab and don't have Launch..but then again, from what I understand, it's not a drive mode but a way to best gauge 0-60 speed times or whatever distance you choose. I recently put in comfort mode on a 2 hour road trip with the kids. It was in cruise and very comfortable.
It is a comfortable ride but the electronics issues ruined it. I now drive an Acura Integra that has been 100% reliable so far (after 10,000 miles).
