Today's Highlight:
The murder toll continues to rise in 2024 as this country has recorded a total of seven murders between Wednesday and Friday.
A Mom was killed and her son injured following a shooting in San Fernando on Friday 27th December, 2024.
• A woman identified as Monica Ghany was shot dead and her son injured while seated in a Nissan Tiida motorcar along the King's Wharf in San Fernando.
• Ghany died at the scene while her son was taken to the nearby San Fernando General Hospital.
• It is reported that the mother and son had moments earlier left the hospital before they were shot.
The killing happened a short distance from where a man identified as Bam, of King's Wharf, was killed on Thursday night during a shootout with another man known to him.
• Around 10:40pm, 'Bam', who lives at King's Wharf in San Fernando, exited a black motor car at Lady Hailes Avenue.
• Moments later, he traded bullets with an occupant of the vehicle but was killed.
A man was gunned down at Bagatelle Road in Diego Martin early on Friday 27th December 2024.
• Nicholas Smith, 19, aka ‘pipe’ of Andrew Trace in Diego Martin was observed nursing gunshots wounds at the location and subsequently succumbed to his injuries.
On Saturday 19th November 2022 Smith’s elder brother Curtis "Faddy" Smith 25, was gunned down in front Starbucks located at Narsaloo Ramaya Marg Road, Chaguanas.
A Missing Sangre Grande man was found murdered inside his burnt vehicle on Thursday 26th December 2024.
• The deceased identified as 32-year-old Dane Hosein Jr. was found inside his Nissan Almera motor car registration number, PBT 4139 that was burnt at Bois Bande, North Eastern Settlement in Sangre Grande.
The slapping of a Venezuelan woman is believed to be the motive for the drive-by murder at Rodney Road in Chaguanas on Wednesday 25th December, 2024.
• The deceased was identified as38-year-old Javeed Mohammed aka Mafia, a well-known fish vendor, of Aranguez Main Road in San Juan.
• On Christmas Day, Mohammed was killed by two men on a motorcycle.
A man was gunned down while asleep at his Toco home on Wednesday 25th December, 2024.
• The deceased was identified as 29-year-old Kelvin Ramsamooj of Monsegue Trace, Toco main Road.
A man was shot and killed in the yard of his Cunupia home on Wednesday 25th December, 2024.
• The deceased was identified as 29-year-old Prince Campbell of Johnathan Trace, Cunupia.
A Point Fortin man was charged with the murder of truck driver, Ronald Marchan, which took place on Wednesday 18th December, 2024.
• The accused identified as Dominik La Chapelle of Point Fortin appeared before a Master of the High Court on Monday 23rd December, 2024, charged with murder.
