It's adorable 💖
I like when shows like this take the approach of “let’s experiment with your style and play a fun dressup game” rather than “your style is wrong and we’re gonna fix you”. It doesn’t feel malicious or judgy like the old “What Not To Wear” shows
What not to wear was an awful show.... I loved it 😭😭😭
@@chelseadiemel41 Same! It was one of my guilty pleasure shows, I got SO mad… but still kept tuning in 😅
Same
@@TehBuggy Same. So much same.
It definitely taught me how to dress for corporate America though...
Usually dressing alternative/goth is a means of self expression. We feel more comfortable, more ourselves when we dress like that. It may be monochrome, but there is so much texture to be had. Lace and velvet and leather and silk. Dressing like that is only the aesthetic part of a music-based subculture, but it kinda goes with the territory. Usually goths are lovely, well-educated folks with kind, thoughtful natures. Underneath the boots are usually glittery unicorn socks covered in white cat hair.
The cat hair is so accurate 😂
it's cool, not for me but sometimes people pull off an impressive look, that first person is killing it.
Yeah! A sizable portion of my friend group is varying flavors of goth, and I have yet to meet a goth that wasn't nice. Did meet an emo girl that stole my book, but she's not representative if the other emos - all the other emos I've met were perfectly nice too
I have worn all black since I was old enough to care. 50 years? Don't change. Nobody cares and laundry is easy.
What a great reason for a monotone wardrobe. Seriously, who can be bothered to sort clothes?
My friend does this but I always feel a little sad when she's interested in something with color but limits herself to only black. She's recently picked up some dark jewel tones so I'm glad she's letting herself have a little fun. Do what ya like but you don't have to limit yourself to only what you know!
Not easy to de-fur when you have a bunch of cats,,… (cough cough me, who has a dark wardrobe.)
The hard thing is finding a specific top in the wardrobe but it's a price I'm more than willing to pay

We had a show like this in the UK called "snog, marry, avoid" where this pretend robot in a booth would rip the shit out of someone's look, ask a bunch of strangers on the street would they "snog, marry, avoid?" to make a point about how unlikeable they are, then transform them to make them look "normal" and poll the strangers again. It was horrific. Would live for kris to react to that one.
Definitely! That show is a nightmare!
oh my god, i used to watch the hell out of that show. This immediately made me think of that haha i remember that show also gave them shitty wigs for the makeover, they loved the choppy brown bob look for some reason.
Yesssss Emily boo is on one of their episodes
Oooh I remember that one. They gave a transgender girl male clothing once...it really húrt looking at their face when it was done. I could feel the pain and despair O_O
@@Burnthiswitchomg do you remember what episode that is? That's absolutely terrible!
I live in Melbourne Aus, and I can say that all of these "befores" you would see on the streets of the city any given day and no one would blink twice. I love the self expression of these people, they're so authentically themselves.
OMG, same!! But Melbourne also has people who dress in expressive styles, and people don't really care. You get more of a positive reaction in Melb than a country town/ community
Goth here, it's not really about covering up but more that we just like how it looks and how it complements our outfits! Makeup to us is like jewellery!
Not the way I posed for the photo🤣🤣🤣

as it goes: under every goth girls studded, strappy 6" platform boots, is a pair of fuzzy pink unicorn socks (analogy for punks/alt/spooky looking people are usually actually super kind hearted sweeties and thats a secret for the homies to know)
This is so true! My boyfriend and I are goth and we both wear very fun socks all the time.
But actually. There are probably pink fuzzy unicorn socks 😂
Fr tho
Underneath my black boots are a pair of Pokémon/sonic/rilakkuma socks. Lol
@@AS_I_am25 love it!
I have been wearing goth/alternative fashion since I was 14 years old. I’m now 36 and I could not see myself in any other style. I was a nurse for over a decade and now I live on a farm and I am the gothic shepherdess 🐑 🖤
I wish this show was the other way around. Should definitely get plain dressed people and give them an alternative makeover 🖤🖤🖤🖤
“The gothic shepherdess” sounds like the title for an awesome graphic novel, featuring sapient Eldritch sheep and their human confidante, not gonna lie.
That's a good point. I'd say most alt people have dressed plain at some point. But not many plain dressed people have dressed alt at all
@@ShintogaDeathAngel aww that’s so sweet. I love my sheep and they act all like pets and more like dogs than sheep. I have had a crazy life… probably could write a book about my life tbh 🖤
@@julietmoore9778 yeah I live in leggings and oversized band hoodies when I’m on the farm. That’s a pretty normal outfit. But also so many people say they love my outfits when I’m dressed up. They say they don’t think they could pull it off. But you really don’t know if you like alt style unless you try it.
you are so cool
12:15 "oh wow.... why not?" GOT ME LAUGHING out loud in my apartment. That immediate response is great. Love you kris
maybe if they gave the first girl a brunette wig, she wouldnt have looked so washed out.
I think they should've let her dress how she wants
The eyebrows were killing me
the wig and makeup are just no, they did her 0 favors she looks so beautiful in her own style
Kris, being 78 years old, you are beautiful just the way you are. Please don’t ever change.
If Kris is 78, she's aging like a boss.
@@InteriorDesignStudent 😂 yep shes definitely 78!
Surprisingly by the looks of how she's currently maintaining herself as happy like that, Kris will be aging like fine wine
yall im pretty sure shes like 27??
@@aussiekid2008
It's a joke because the person meant their 78 but they thought they were saying Kris was
Sadly from experienced people who dress differently or at least in my country, get barked on (even though I'm not a furry) or like 2 days ago I got spat on multiple times and horrible curses.
I'm not the only one who that happened to her, my friend's experienced the same things
( ore style is alternative and emo/goth)
And the worst thing is that those people who did it, did not care about the fact that we're still human beings and we have feelings.
And all me and my friends did was expressing ourselves and dressing differently than others
awe im so sorry I think you seem really cool and id totally be your friend 🥰
That's really sad and pathetic that people feel the need to respond to you like that. I think that's born out of their own insecurities. They don't dare to be themselves, so they just take people down who do. I think it's really powerful you just do what you like. Stupid that you're being bullied for that!
@@kruimell83 that is so sweet thank you:D
I dress quite weird, and i get alot of mean coments in real life, and i even have peoples stalking me or taking pictures of me and laughing in public.
When can we get rid of makeover shows? Telling everyone that they're not good enough? Telling your audience (usually young girls) that they're probably not good enough either then. Ugh, it needs to stop.
This is a show on TH-cam, and the people getting made over choose to do it themselves.
@@slytherin_4_lyf418 but there is a reason these shows exist, and it’s probably not a healthy one.
I used to watch this on Snapchat. If i remember correctly, there was an episode where the girls boyfriend genuinely hated how she looked after the transformation even though she was in love with the look and was willing to incorporate parts it in to her style. It was sad to see him hate how she looked.
That is sad😮
@LeeLeesBanter it was like you can tell from her body that she felt good and confident and his attitude was just tearing her down.
He must be very insecure if his love is conditional & superficial.

I must have missed that notice that it was supposed to be phase🤣 Fell into the Goth rabbit hole when I was 13 and still going hard today at 34 🦇🦇🦇 I swear, if these people dare to show up at my door I will have them on the run in less than a second, this is a violation to our freedom to express ourselves.
Hey we fell in at the same time And we're the same age. I went away from it for a few years but recently have gone back because it makes me much happier. And people always think I'm way younger than I am so that's a plus too 😅
People volunteer for the show to just try something different. They choose what they transform into just as kind of a grown up version of playing dress up. Nobody said they were in the wrong for being alternative.
They don't just show up, it's all scheduled in advance and the participants want to try something different.
@@AshChiCupcak Awesome! Welcome back to the comforting darkness then😅 I only ever take "breaks" due to being way to deeply invested in historical re-enactment but I guess that does not really count, those breaks lasts no longer than a week as most hehhe
@@_MaryRose_ I "took a break" due to some massive burnout and a depression rut that lasted for years. Lost all interest in everything I enjoyed. Still struggling to get out of it but it's helped greatly bringing the things I love back into my life. Got weird looks at the school for a bit when I took my kids up there but now they're used to me 😂
One show that won’t ever be cancelled is the call me Kris video show, she simply marvelous!
I love the individuality of all of these wonderful people . As an artist I can really appreciate the looks. I'm 58 and would love to look like all of these girls before the makeovers. Super cool . I do wear black and have 12mm gauges but idk if folks could accept me looking like them. I totally would love it. Love the vid Kris.
I grew up and lived most of my life in a small, southern town and I'm a neurodivergent, queer, colorful, enby. Nobody bothers you (for the most part). They may look but you get used to it. I don't even notice anymore. Take your risks, girl! Life's short, have fun!
I remember watching this show called "100% hotter" when I was YOUNG (like no older than 10). The show would take alt people and make them "normal". It was really weird seeing people who I thought were cool, and that I wanted to look like be called ugly and be changed into something other than what they wanted. They would come back to people in Peter episodes and 9/10 people went back to their old style and didn't keep with the "new look"
There were so many of these and I truly never understood and the “friends” they get to talk about them always grossed me out like eww why are you friends with them if that’s how you feel? And i know some their words were twisted but some were actually just mean af for no reason
Watched it too! 😂😂
pov you just had a anxiety attack but then Kris saves you and you feel happiness again
We had a similar show in the UK called "Snog Marry Avoid?" Ran from 2008 to 2013 I think.
It had a snarky computer telling people how bad they looked, had clips of mostly men answering the question
"Snog Marry Avoid?" Ended in a big reveal to friends and family of the new look.
I used to watch it on TH-cam to see all the cool alternative people
Lol I'm pretty heavily tattooed (including both sides of my head, 3 face tattoos and most of a full body suit) and this show inspired my Halloween costume a few years back. I covered all of my tattoos and dressed basic AF. Funny enough, none of my coworkers even noticed till I told them. It's funny how people stop noticing your tattoos over time 😂
Kris as someone who dresses goth and lives in a tiny southern town of 200 people ✨ jUST GO FOR IT ✨
You’ll have the best time
I’ve been dressing this way since I was 8 and now I’m 2 years away from 30.
It’s so freeing and I feel so powerful when I go out. It’s like having big dog privileges, but you’re in big stompy boots and a face beat to the gods. And the people who are worth talking to will talk to you despite how intimidating you look, that’s how I ended up dating my now husband.
Yes! I am now 52 years old, and can attest to what you're saying. You do YOU! And age is just a number. 😊
Kris seems like the most understanding person. Like the first girl looks so intimidating Kris was just like “Aww she sounds so nice and shy, I feel like we could be best friends.” We love u Kris don’t change ❤️
It's so common for women my age (50) to judge kids who dress emo. I don't dress emo but I absolutely love that look on anyone. Every time I see a kid dressed like that, I have to compliment them and I genuinely mean it. I wished this was a common look when I was a teen so I could of had a lot of fun with it. At 50, I'm too old for it now.

2:56 okay so I do like angel-core/fairy core, and I have a lot of experience in sticking out like a sore thumb. For me it started off as a form of a confidence booster. I PERSONALLY feel deeply uncomfortable if I don’t look the way I do. Like I don’t know how to express it, but dressing outside of my style makes me wanna vomit when I look at myself. And I have a wide range of styles, but I NEED to be in an outfit that falls under one of those styles. It makes me feel extremely beautiful and happy to be dressed in the way I do. For some people I’ve heard it’s like a mask of courage. They may feel a little low in self-confidence, and the outfit they choose helps with that. I felt the same way growing up. When I wore a certain outfit I felt like a different person, someone who’s unstoppable.
Angel-core/fairy-core sounds beautiful! ❤
I very much so started my “goth phase” because of Robert smith. I don’t know why but punk cabaret, punk, grunge, and goth aesthetics have always stuck out to me. Thank you Kris ❤❤❤
Kris approving and being impressed by these alternative people makes me so happy. Kris is a real queen, we love her
Shows like this reminds me of those fashion shows that takes really creative artists and beats them down to make boring black dresses. I would only watch the dresses theyd make at the begining of the episodes because i was sick of the bland designs they chose for the final fashion show.

I fully appreciate Kris showering these people with empathy and kindness. Everything she said about the way they all initially dressed, I agreed with. It's so funny because it's usually so true that the people who dress up kind of scary or crazy or weird, are usually some of the sweetest people. Usually why I try to make friends with them lol

There was a reality show called The Swan about 20-ish years ago, it was on network primetime TV. Women were picked apart physically by a team of ppl, and then they all underwent multiple plastic surgery type of procedures on their faces and bodies, in hopes that at the end they'd "win" and be labeled as "The Swan". Truly horrific idea, and I can't believe it was actually executed.
Yeah that show was actually horrific. Doing major plastic surgery and still keeping them on a 500 calorie a day diet and extreme workouts. Plus so so much plastic surgery!!! You get a brow lift, you get a brow lift, we all get a brow lift!
I remember that show glad it got canceled

I had a recurring nightmare when my mom was pregnant with my younger siblings. We would all be on an old boat, and everyone except me and the new baby would disappear. The boat would then get attacked by alligators, and the new baby would roll off the boat and be eaten.
His mom with the lemon juice on the beach 😂
My mom had 3 platinum babies and our hair stayed that way until we were like 16 and eventually refused to let her "naturally bleach" our hair. I never even knew how dark my hair was, or that I had curly hair until I was in my 20s. And yes, those seagulls kill!
KRISTOPH!!!
Ok so, when I was 13, my mom sent me to church camp. I met this girl there who wore clothes I was seeing for the first time. she had a head full of braids hanging loose kinda like dreads, she wore a pyramid studded belt and boots, and I was fascinated! I came home and the old pre teen me was dead, I was now a goth 😅 and thats when it started. Hot Topic, eye liner, Tripp pants and band tees and accessories. I didn't wear another dress until I was in my 20s . My mom said she sent me to church camp and I came back satanic 😂😂 I'm 34 now so the fashion has toned down a lot but, I never outgrew the "Phase", I still wear mostly black, have tattoos and piercings and dreadlocks. So yeah that's the event that triggered my alternative aesthetic. I met a girl and thought she looked so cool at 13 😅

It was *very* common back in the 80s and 90s to collect a lock of your babies hair, not child's, but a lock of your babies hair.
"THE LOVE OF MY LIFE" Kris I'm so happy for you!
Hey Kris. I'm Goth and so is my husband. Our goth style is more along the Victorian goth line.
What got me into goth? I watched 'the craft' when it came out on 1996 so I was 13. I looked at Fairuza Balk as Nancy and fell in love with the look right there and then. A few weeks later I bought a spike studded dog collar and still wear one to this day at 41. 🖤
LOL, I wish my dreams were half as cool, usually they are about me investigating my own death... weird, I know.
Kris - you are NOT boring! You have a great personality and have honest character.
I think a wonderful transformation for you to try is to get you that drag mom and work up a drag King persona.
Then you and Caleb can hit the Texas trails as buds!
0:18 That was an amazing compliment lol and the thumbnail gave me a jumpscare 😂😂😂 17:39 they all looked so pretty, and I loved them so much! Have a good day Kris ❤
As a goth myself , I bloody loved this and how open minded you are Kris❤ the world needs more people like you
Honestly, I want a show where they take people with extreme goth looks and people with extreme cutesy looks and have them make each other over. Style swaps are more fun than making people look generic.
This was made during or since the Pandemic, as the make up artist was wearing a mask. And she was talking about skinny jeans being out of style and they were in style not that long ago. This is a kind of dumb show, fun, but dumb (unless the people really want to do this). Kris's take on the first girl's make up, looking like drag, was spot on.
I think one of the worst reality shows was “playing it straight”, only watched the US version on a ranch, it basically became hunt the gays via stereotypes, the confessionals were even done “in the closet” 😅

one of my reoccuring nightmares is my house being turned into a kind of liminal space maze, and I'm being chased by some kind of, clown. . .thing?
0:13 the face I make when people sing Happy Birthday to me
My recurring nightmares are always where my younger siblings are in danger and I’m the only one who sees the danger, but when I try to save them, they call me ridiculous and paranoid and walk right back into the danger.
I had this recurring nightmare when i was little, where basically me and my friends were adopted by this man and woman who i have never seen before in my life and one day the mother called me into the kitchen where she was staring at the wall when i walked in. When i said hello? Her body still faced the wall but her head turned 180 to look at me, then her arms and legs fell off and then the nightmare ends after that. I would wake up screaming each time🤣😭
During hs, I stood out a lot throughout the years. Small country school filled with farmers, jocks and normies, I stood out like a sore thumb. I'd either dress cottage core or overly large button up shirts with something wrapped around the throat up to my face or a pair of spider earrings on the end tips of my collar, standing up with them folded over. Neon another day. Rainbow colored eyeshadow I'd do before leaving. This was in the mid to late 80s lol
i am literally obsessed with watching those makeovers like it’s an addiction at this point
I love all the goth styles and am a goth myself! I love things that are not the norm and think that they are beautiful. I hate this show for taking that away from people and telling them that there style isn’t okay
Yes!
Facts I love to read that style and watch it people should be more accepting of this style
Exactly! Beauty comes in so many forms! There's nothing wrong with looking like everyone else, but there's also nothing wrong with not looking like everyone else. This feels like they're taking everything with any interest or personality and stomping it to death.
Right. Why don't the put a Uno Reverse card on that and make those little "girl next-door" kind of girls and put them in goth or cosplay styles? Turnabout is fair play. 🤷🏻♀
I would adopt all of these girls' aesthetics if I wasn't a coward-
i live in the same small town as you and am super into fashion. i get a lot of heads turning to look at me when I walk around with crazy outfits or weird makeup. Still, it's so worth it even though it's kind of scary to branch out especially because I'm a teenager and everyone else my age wears fucking lulu lemon so I get judged but its just so fun to dress up. There will always be supportive people in my life who encourage me to put myself out there.
I'm 26 years old and I'm still in my "emo" or more of a e-girl "stage" lol. It all started around 14-15 when I just realized I really liked the feeling of walking into a room and having ppl make a "off the bat opinion". I think it was really fun to just confuse the world. I would walk into a store, see someone who dresses similar, we'd stop and talk, and everyone around us would be confused...It was great. I think after a while, it became comfortable. Just like moms who wear sweaters ALL winter, I wouldn't leave my house without my choker lol. It just became who I was and it made me, me. I don't know if this explained much but tbh, I don't rlly know why it stuck or 100% why I was so drawn to it in the first place. YOLO ig lol!
Also!!!!
LOVE U KRIS!!! Ur pretty great and always put a smile on my face!
The types of shows that do makeovers to make people look more “normal” always bum me out!! I have been more interested in like witchy Fashion for a long time, and it wasn’t until just a couple of years ago that I finally allowed myself to dress the way that I had always wanted to, the same thing with my home decor, and I will say that I am a much happier person (except for the clinical depression and all that jazz) being more authentic to myself.
Basically, my advice to anyone who may need to hear it be yourself, wear fun clothes, decorate your house with things that bring you joy, and don’t wait until you’re almost 40 to do it like I did!

And as someone who also lives in Texas, just Monday I went out in a gothic witchy outfit, and I tend to go out in random outfits whenever I get the idea for them. Even funnier- I always make sure to stop by my place of work to show my coworkers 😂
