I think silicone has a different paint for it. Neither the air dry nor heat set paints work for it.

That's correct. You'll need an A and B silicone mixture and the paint. I have tried a couple and I like psycho paints for the silicone mixture and Silc pig pigment paints. I'll include the Amazon links for you.
