"as right as you are doctor, lets hope those steps dont lead us into a beartrap or a landmine"
I'll be honest, I expected a shit ton of googly eyes everywhere once I heard "lone crew", what we got is better.
Same here
that's one of my other stories
👀🤡💩 Googly eyes are better than clowns or feces everywhere, but not by much
TBH, even if NOBODY ever answered, the guy would end up being a hero, because in our paranoia, humanity would be forced to push forward.
So, 2/3 chance hero, even if despised, 1/3 chance of villain? Not terrible odds lol
I mean we already broadcast into the void and gave sent probes. I think that ship has already sailed
Travelling at the speed of light? Wow, Proxima Centuri is only 4 years behind on our current events. I wonder how the Earendel system would react when they receive our first broadcasts in 28,000,000,000 years.
Yeah but it is so degraded after a distance I forget it just static.
Our broadcast are too weak to go past our local neighbours like bernards star. even if, the first message of humanity they will reciew for 3 years are litteraly Hitl*rs speeches. And besides that, The voiyagers will probely not be even past Bernards stars, in distance, when we start colonizing space.
That universe: Bye possible star track world, where new species will be carefully selected to join a type of union, and welcome grimdarkness 30k.
Personally I like stories that give that flip off the Dark Forest Solution. It is one of the weakest solutions to the Fermi Paradox, which I personally also feel that the Fermi Paradox is fundamentally flawed in the first place and give the First Born Solution the most likely scenario IMO.
How about "all of the above"?
@@davidtherwhanger6795 if the universe is BILLIONS of years old and earth is only MILLIONS….im gonna go with there was intelligent life before us and to think otherwise is insanely arrogant…especially way the fuck out in the boonies of our own galaxy. We are NOT the first born sentient intelligence.
The issue with the fermi-paradox is that we are a speck of dust looking for another speck of dust in a corridor 5km square and 15 km long. It’s gonna take a long ass time due to the simple nature of the universe and the amount of empty space in it.
I love the idea that humans will end up as the "ancient powerful race that had technology we couldn't hope to replicate"
The Dark Forest theory is a bit of a catch 22, as well as itself being illogical. FTL, if possible, would require vast amounts of power and (should) be detectable, even with basic instrumentation for observation like we currently possess. So the moment you decide to genocide another species for fear of them being a threat, either now or in the future, every OTHER species will also know exactly what/when/where you did. Leading to yet another "predator" in the forest to take THEM out, so on and so forth. It's like MAD, only with a never ending conflict.
Personally I think it's ridiculous in the lack of logic behind it. I tend to go with either we're the "first ones" in our local area, or that life is "rare", in that you only get a handful of intelligent species evolving per galaxy at best, which leaves a vast amount of emptiness and the unlikely event of said intelligent life ever meeting to begin with. Possibly existing at the same time, but interstellar and intergalactic scales being so vast, that a civilization may go extinct even if their paths would have theoretically lead them to contact.
@@volatilesky why would ftl be detectable with our abilities? If we don’t know how to do it, how would we be able to know how to detect it?
Dare to shout into The Dark Forest. (I don't know why, but this sentence fits.)
It's sad to think that in the future humanity lost it's balls like that. I truly don't think that will happen, I hope.
America displayed quite the lack of balls in the 60s, when they gave up being the first explorers of the quantum realm. All due to fear of "creating a black hole that would consume the Earth."
Bunch of babies...
You got it all wrong. Humans ALWAYS have been that way. This is the reason people are naturaly suspisios of the unknown, strangers, fear change etc.
Because when you are in a forest and some leaves move. There are two possibility, something dangerous to you did or not. If you are naive and believe no bad can happen, sooner or later, reality gets you eaten and your genes end.
If you are suspicious and careful and fearful, the worst it can happen is, you are losing a "potential" friend, The best it can happen is you avoid mortal danger!
On one hand you are losing someone that could be friend, but you are still having you tribe, so no big deal, on the other, you are losing everything at once and thre is not recovery. Nasty odds to play again and again and again.
The notion that everyone and everything is friendly and can be befriended is imbecilic at best and can exist only in the safety of the modern society so far removed from nature, that people forget there is litteral war among species every second for survival and simple existance. Something is eating something else, often even while the catch is still alive.
Why does no one EVER consider light lag in the Fermi Paradox solutions? Even if there are advanced slecies NOW, we're just seeing the billion year old memoirs!!
I liked this one a lot.
Love this story
Interesting to see a person driven insane by their own loneliness reached out to the rest of the galaxy for companionship.
Great if the aliens 👽 came …looking for that disco 🪩 ball 🕺 🤣
There’s one species of alien that does nothing but look for a party…and by Slaanesh they found it in us!!
@@widdershins5383 Slanesh 🕺🎉
Unfortunately, the broadcast reached Azothoth like a ringtone.
Lovely
And now we wait…..
CRY HAVOC!!!
People that truly believe in the dark forest theory are the most skittish around.
We mite not have developed quantum subspace communication tech to real time chat with our furthest probes. We will still be able to tell if someone FTL jumps into our system.
All warp and hyper space ships need at least ten light year range of radar. Any jump based drives leaves a sub space spacial fabric gravity burps. Sub light speed travel mite have passive radar but it will be like 1/4 to 1/2 a light year range. Our solar system is like 0.8 to 1.1 or 1.2 light years wide. The 1.1 and 1.2 is the directional tail of our systems traveling around the galaxy.
Only herbivores believe in it. The smart monkeys don't worry but listen closely and are best prepared for those who want to FAFO.
