Ok that was great! soothing, and made me smile! I will be adding this to my warm up list and the list of videos I have to relieve the stress of the moment! Love it!!
Thanks a million for pointing me to this video during the Kila Live - US Show tonight, Ronan. Hope to see you all play live in person once this COVID-19 madness passes.
I especially like the Bodhran he has chosen for the instruction. It is my observation that players dwell far too much on what kind/quality of drum one has, versus the enjoyment of improved technique. Compared to other frame drum/hand drum histories, the Irish oats were dumped out of the Bodhran basket & thumped with a stick off the ground..... yesterday. Thanks for the straight forward instruction.
How ya Ronan, great to see you'm still playing strong. I have a question for ya, What is the best mic to use for stage work, all the best yo ya jigger x
Brilliant Video Ronan I've been looking for a video from you doing this for years. I could never master the long tipper being held in your fingertips but now I have this to go on its time to get back practising. I saw you play this with crazy accents on it live in a pub as part of a festival near Oldcastle years ago and I've been trying to figure it out ever since how you were getting that many hits in that short a time. Is there a particular style tipper you would use or could you do it with any long straight one just as easy?
Look at that beat up drum and that absolute legend. They say originally in marital arts, you didnt change belts. You started as a white belt and practiced so hard that your belt got dirty and turned black over time. And by the time you were a true master, it was just a scraggly piece of shit. That drum looks like the equivolent of an og black belt
Bodran tapped together for dear life lol
_taped_ , even
Half way through I put the Bodhrán down and started dancing 😂
A true master of his instrument.
Go Raibh Mait Agat! I'm learning through you, self taught 🎉
