imagine putting on numerous different costumes, makeup, sets, just for 240p... 2006 was an amazing time to be a kid in highschool tho... man this song/album brings back the memories!
For those who don't know, this song is part of a concept album about a girl named Kezia who is to be executed by a totalitarian rule, every song is a point of view from ppl involved such as the prison gaurd, the executioner, Kezia and this song is the view from the priest who questions his faith over the whole situation.
They called me the man with the blood of Christ honesty But tonight I drink with heathens and the finest of our blasphemies In wine there's truth but in silence there's surrender A screaming for the silence in stunned suspicious terror Built a temple in my life and used God to seal the pillars After twenty years of fighting young heretics and killers I watch my temple fall to pieces at the first signs of oncoming weather Fell to my knees just like Jesus in the cave, knew I would die But my lips could only; I am not your son, so why have you forsaken me? There's a hole in my heart but it just makes me unholy Crucified that night and walked away with alter-egos Like the prison priest who preached his dead and buried gospel While my faith is in ruins my duty breathes strong I'm a parrot in a cage saying prayers to belong to a textbook Of my crying, lying, dying history; a time so full of life that I was anything but me
Rody's got fucking pipes. This guy is one of my favourite vocalists. wide clean rage and a clear scream. it's hard to find a vocalist who does both well these days.
He is legend is the most under rated band of the last 20 years easily. Every album they get better and better, they're still so fucking good 🤌🏻🔥 I played with human abstract one time in 07 so I love when I see their name came up, and then BTBAM goes without saying, they're one of the GOATs 🖤 you have excellent taste lol
As for BTBAM I think The Parallax II: The Future Sequence makes it somewhere in my top 12 albums of all time alongside other Progressive or Alt-y music
I definitely recommend this album (Kezia) to anyone that likes this song. The album is out of this world amazing. Their second studio album (Fortress) is great too, but it's a little more refined.
Fun fact: The actual members of Protest The Hero were busy on tour and Vagrant needed a video so they dressed some random dudes up like Flying Monkeys and they made this.
i can tell you exactly what mathcore is... its a metal style where the time signature changes constantly. if your a musician you know what im talking about
PTH is the best band ever, because they are so well rounded. They can do any genre like progressive metal, sceamo, hard core, math core, and dare I say it... punk.
18 years ago.. Jesus I can remember the obsession I had over this album and the love I had for this band. I was able to see them live in small little venues and also chilling under a bridge with Moe and Arif. 😂
ditto. i wasnt much into metal either but all it took was turn soonest to the sea and im hooked. im not an expert about music techniques or terms and those fancy acronyms..but one thing i do know for sure is pth has lots of difficulties in their songs and i thoroughly ENJOY them. plus theyre far from shabby-looking..ha
@@staydoogan I don't know if you're the guy who started the collapse of the comments over a decade ago or not since it's all wiped, but same to you, man. Craziest guy on TH-cam to start comment beef with me was a flat earther with 200+ hours of video on his channel looking at the horizon and preaching from his office.
5 other songs with calm acoustic parts, bass tapping, screaming, time signature changes, and slapping and popping? I dont think he will be able to :D PTH owns.
Greatest Band ever. They inspired me to learn the guitar and start a band. I didn't even like music prior to PTH. What other bands are like protest the hero? (dreamtheater?)
You gotta remember though that they still are young and still like to have a good time!(: Even if that does mean they make fun of their music, doesn't mean they dont take music seriously! I think they're amazing and nothing'll change my mind about that!:P
I remember seeing this video when the Kezia album came out … I was 50% scared cuz I hated the witch and those flyin monkeys when I was young and 50% into the type of sound they had.. the hardcore/metal kid in me was like fuux yeah but the young happy normal child in me wasn’t liking the memories this video brought back lololol
I fell to my knees like Jesus in the cave, I knew I would die But my lips could only say; Im not your son so why have you forsaken me? There's a hole in my heart but it just makes me unholy Crucified that night and I walked away with alter-egos Like the prison priest who preaches his dead and buried gospel While my faith is in ruins my duty still breathes strong
Also try to check out Dillinger Escape Plan, but they're pretty noisy if you prefer just melodic stuff, although Setting Fire To Sleeping Giants is pretty okay if you ask me.
Eric Pineda You could forgive me for seeing warped tour 07 and thinking “Scene Kid” lol I was just born then so I guess it’s great that a new generation of scene kids will be coming in 2020!
There 's a little bit of Watchtower in this song, even though the vocal lines of Protest The Hero are so much better. They're really great, one of the best bands of the moment.
Come on people it's just his opinion. Don't hate him for that. Instead I would recommend he listens to something from 'Fortress' as that album has a wider variety of vocals used in it.
protest the hero is one of the best bands Ive ever seen live. you people need to stop being all elitist and accept that there is a new generation out there putting there own spin on what is death\thrash metal.
WTF did I do? You quote my comment out of context and then call me an idiot, and I get this. In order to keep this comment relevant, this is a great song by a great band.
I have to agree with SilenceSoSudden. It's not that they change the tempo. If you listen with a critical ear, you hear the time signature changes, they alternate between adding and taking away a beat for every measure.
imagine putting on numerous different costumes, makeup, sets, just for 240p... 2006 was an amazing time to be a kid in highschool tho... man this song/album brings back the memories!
The tape copy's high quality. Much music has one in a basement somewhere.
We were in gradesxhool 😂
Nhl06 ost
No kidding.
I think the only video on my channel is a grainy old GWAR video from back in 06. The year I dropped out to apprentice in a tattoo shop
@@GreyGreyGrey59I was a senior in high school 🤣🤌🏻

Wow
yes, Kezia
Insane. I used to love this album and literally just now found this out
First time hearing this in years and it gave me goosebumps.
Absolutely
Super fire.
Haven't heard it in around a decade and it still holds up aside from modern mixing standards.
Insane arrangement.
Its open goes so damn hard
Still doing understand how a band like this doesn’t blow up.
First time hearing this in years 23’
Protest the Hero is too unique and amazing to be in any genre!!!!
I listened to this song every day in college when it came out, and it still surprises me to this day. It's so good!
They called me the man with the blood of Christ honesty

A screaming for the silence in stunned suspicious terror

One of the most bad ass intros I have ever heard. Very creative breakdown, especially with the bass boom at 0:25
!!!!!! Its open is so boss!
end of this song = one of the greatest riffs ever!
Rody's got fucking pipes. This guy is one of my favourite vocalists. wide clean rage and a clear scream. it's hard to find a vocalist who does both well these days.
between the buried and me
the human abstract
he is legend

Oh god damn just realized this comment was 16 years old lol all those bands were still super relevant lol but still
He Is Legend is prolly my favorite 2000's band
As for BTBAM I think The Parallax II: The Future Sequence makes it somewhere in my top 12 albums of all time alongside other Progressive or Alt-y music
@TheOfficialDrovix their last 3 albums have been so Good(he is legend) and BTBAM is just on another level 🔥
"With my faith in ruins my duty still breathes strong
I'm a parrot in a cage just singing prayers to belong" genius
The Outro was insane!!
PTH IS THE BEST!!!!
saw them in concert was the craziest thing ever!!!
Rodey is my idol!!!
Commenting for 2 reasons. 1. This is gold 2. old ass feed NEEDS LIFE!!!
To this day one of the coolest music videos I've ever seen.
I definitely recommend this album (Kezia) to anyone that likes this song. The album is out of this world amazing. Their second studio album (Fortress) is great too, but it's a little more refined.
best production values on guitar and drums for me, this is my holy grail!!
really need some HQ versions of these
Remembered this song after 10 years or so. Still great
Fun fact: The actual members of Protest The Hero were busy on tour and Vagrant needed a video so they dressed some random dudes up like Flying Monkeys and they made this.
That's wild.
Its a fact.
😲 I never knew this!! Lol that's awesome!
Definately dude... His unique, passion filled vocals, combined with their Mathcore guitar and drums make amazing music.
1:10 is my favourite part of any PTH song honestly. so fucking good
Confirmed that this song still destroys in 2024
the breakdown at the end is so fucking sick
i can tell you exactly what mathcore is... its a metal style where the time signature changes constantly. if your a musician you know what im talking about

This is the most fantastic music video I have ever seen. I don't think I've ever laughed harder. The song is amazing itself.

i love how people think that after dissing someone they can end it with "god bless you" and think that they won't get an angry reply
