Sticky Zoom H5 covered under warranty. I had an H5 that got sticky so I contacted Zoom to see if they had cleaning suggestions. I told them I was the original purchaser, the date I had purchased it and that I had kept it in the case unless in use, and I never spilled anything on it. They replied the unit with this problem was covered under warranty regardless of when I bought it, which was 2016. They asked for the serial number and sent me an RMA. I shipped it out to them and today, got a new unit, in the box, with all the accessories. Yeah Zoom! Now that's a good company.
I bought my H5 in 2018 and it‘s terribly sticky. Zoom refused to send me a new cover and just offered a small discount for buying a new one. No thanks, never again …
@@e.h.9990 Same here. I bought mine in 2016. I contacted Zoom support and they told me the warranty is 3 years. Their out of warranty offer is a $100 discount on a new H5 or a free silicone case to put over the sticky recorder.
Thank's for this video, I do not understand why it gets sticky, it is a mistery. I have started with alcohol like for screens, then a house cleaner for glass... I will try bicarbonate... I will try and tell you...
These techniques are trying to be helpful. But really do not bother. I contacted Zoom. The sticky case is a manufacturing problem which has now been resolved. They told me to send it back and they sent me a brand new one, box and all. If you do not like the sticky case, do yourself a favour and get a unit that you will enjoy. I am sure Zoom would prefer that you were happy - that is the best form of advertising.
I contacted Zoom and they told me to clean it up with nail polish. Quote: "gently rub the covers off with acetone-free nail polish remover and a cloth towel. However, this option is only recommended if the covers are unscrewed first, otherwise there is a risk of damaging the inside of the device with the liquid." The company and their products are a joke.

Oh, I meant to add for those who are curious about it. The reason Zoom lists for the stickiness is 'hydrolysis.'
91% Isopropyl alcohol did the trick for me - 20min of rubbing and the sticky feeling is gone, didn’t damage any labels, looks good enough.
This is soooo helpful thank you

@@russell8930 did you need proof that you bought it.new ?
The Armour all has to be the all original version to work.
WD40 .......good a sticky stuff remover and worked for me!
For me, common liquid bleach, a micro fibre tissue and 20 minutes scrubbing totally solved the issue. No answer from zoom support.
Mine is hella sticky. Like, who chose this plastic?? ? Awful decision.

why the heck would zoom make such a crap surface!!!
I think it's a failed attempt to make a great grip-surface. At first it was fine! I guess they did not test it over time...Understandable though..
