    If you fly from Auckland to Sydney or Melbourne on the 9am flights you should almost certainly be on a 787 or 777. I think they make sure that business class is available for the business travelers.

    • @tfft
      @tfft  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A very (very very very) controversial topic my pronunciation has become. I'll just note, my chosen pronunciation came from an article in The Fiji Times explaining the difference between overseas/tourist pronunciations and iTaukei local pronunciations. The conclusion of the article being, most locals pronounce it "nah-di" and most tourists add an "n"... Now, if The Fiji Times is wrong, well then, I was bound to fail lol.

    Whilst it may feel that the cabin is smaller during boarding with those style of bins; it's actually more pleasing to have while flying when they're all stowed away. Makes the cabin feel more spacious compared to the traditional bins on non Boeing Sky planes.
    I have not flown on any A320s that has those overhead bins yet but i would guess it's similar to the 737?

    • @tfft
      @tfft  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I disagree. A320/321s are larger and feel more spacious as it is. 737s have the sky interior as a way of fitting more bags, yes, but also to make the interior feel much more spacious when they're closed as you mentioned. In an A320 family aircraft though, the original design doesn't feel claustrophobic to begin with. Thanks for watching 🩴

      @@tfft - Air NZ's Q300 and ATR72-600's turbo prop fleets are deemed not to be s security risk and the cost of installing security screen facilities at small regional airports like Hokitika, Oamaru, Invercargill, New Plymouth, Gisborne, Napier, Tauranga, Nelson, Palmerston North only have 2-4 flights a day would be expensive to fly to regional airports for the locals, especially flying on 2nd level doemstic airlines like Air Chatham, Orginair, Soundsair, Barrier Air, Sunair which have a important to regional centres.
      That said, flying out of Dunedin and Queenstown on either Air NZ turboprops or domestic jets, you have to go through airport security screening to access the departure gates.

    I have been trying to check out airlines flying the Ho Chi Minh to London route as like you I want to try out different aircraft's business class product. Going direct to the airlines web page I cannot find out the aircraft used without going through the booking pages and giving all my details. Do you know of a better way, but I know even if they say which aircraft they use it does not guarantee what lands to take us.
    The last ten round trips have been with Emirates, previous to that it was with Qatar their hub lounge is fantastic. But Emirates wood me with a slightly cheaper fare and limo service in the UK. Emirates use a B777 with the side seats in the two seat configuration, which climbing over the isle side passenger while they sleep at my age of 79 is not easy. the bed /seat is narrow and as I need to sleep on my side does not work too well. So I suffer that to enjoy the wonderful seats and lay flat BED on the A380. I can sleep like a log and on awaking enjoy a beer at the bar and even a meal at a nice table. With newer aircraft coming along it would be great to try them, but would like them to be near or better than the A380s products.

    What is wrong with Air NZ lounge at Nadi. It has been upgraded to same standards as Air NZ's other international lounges. By the way, the seats on the A320neo/A321neos are slighter wider including the centre middle due to the slim line designed of the seats.

      @@tfft - Your comment was a a bit confusing. It sort of came across was mediocre compared to Fiji Airways lounge. If you are 'reviewing' an airline lounge, you need to visit it first like other airline TH-cam reviewer's then check out the Fiji Airways lounge. Saying 'I read it was nothing to write about' can be seen as being 'bias'.

      Yes, MANY people have pointed that out in the comments on my Fiji videos. I'll just say that, my choice of pronunciation came from Fijian sources (The Fiji Times, specifically). It would seem to me, those that visit Fiji pronounce it "Nan-di" and the iTaukei who are originally from their pronounce it "Nah-di"... so I chose the latter. Thanks for watching 🩴

    As a New Zealander living abroad, I think the new livery is awful. It's too 'busy' at the rear part of the fuselage with the silver fern there. They should never have got rid of the Teal colour, which is part of it's heritage and then continued to only use the Koru in the design. Imagine a 787, or 777 in the '81-'96 livery. I don't feel motivated to book with them BECAUSE of the modern livery. If they eliminated the huge silver fern and placed a small one after the name (like where they used to place the flag), it would be much improved.

From what I've been told, 'Nan-di' is the frequent A/NZ pronunciation where as the iTaukei will generally pronounce it 'Nah-di'- either way, I'm fine if I'm wrong, but just noting it wasn't pulled out of thin air 😊

    I've recently flown AKL - Cairns return. The usual outstanding service from AirNZ. 787 across and swapped out for an A321NEO on the way back. I do prefer the 787. Food was tasty. Pie, salad and ice cream on the way over, beef curry and brownie on the way back. And yes, there is an AirNZ "All Black" aeroplane in each of the service classes, even the domestic fleet. Cheers from AKL.

      Ah this is the "becuase we can" effect. So, they did away with Business Class for domestic routes as part of their restructuring in 2001 when the government bailed them out as a way to cut costs. Then... just two years later they realized, "hey! lookie here! we can make a profit, charge pretty hefty prices AND not have to deal with business class! Let's just keep doing this!"
      Literally the exact same story of every airline in some way during covid lol.
