That mixer should be handy around your place once you get it going !! I'm closing in on 80 (in 3 weeks) and when I was 20, I worked for one of my uncles who was a general contractor. He had one of those mixers sitting in his yard. If memory serves, it was a 2 wheel trailer type unit. I think it may have belonged to his dad (my Grandfather) who also was a contractor. I know they used one of those mixers to build a concrete bridge over the Feather River in Northern California back in the early 1900's when my Dad and his 3 brothers were young men. They hauled all of the cement there from San Francisco on a 1 1/2 ton Model A truck. My Dad said they would load 5 tons of cement on the truck before my Grandfather would agree that it was "loaded". I never heard or saw the mixer run. My Dad, uncles, and the mixer are all long gone. My Dad was born in 1913. He had two older brothers, one younger one and four older sisters. Large Italian family.

That's super cool. As a kid I remember one well, being used to clean up a train derailment mess. I would spend hours there watching it work. After the mess was cleaned up, they left the steam shovel behind. We use to play in it... the steam engines and boilers were still intact. I remember the Erie name on it. It brings back memories. The wood was green and the roof was black. It was there until the early 80's. I have no idea what happened to it. My dad may have taken slides of it, back when it was cleaning up the mess. When I start going threw his slides later in the winter, If I find them, I'll send them to you. Looking forward to more videos on it.

👍👌👏 A steam shovel! Now you're talking! The concrete mixer will definitely come in handy for engine foundations you will build in the future. Mixing concrete yourself is way cheaper than the costs of ready-mixed concrete. I bet Nana Catscan will like the mixer too.
Best regards luck and health in particular to all of you.

Pretty exciting! Looks like the machinery is complete.
The undercarriage might pull somewhat easier if you disengage the steering "clutches" (sliding gears) by the track sprockets. With them engaged, you are turning 3 shafts with plain bearings and 2 bevel gear sets. Also allows tracks to move independently to steer it. Stiff springs to defeat, forget how that goes together. Also looks sunk in, dig ramps.
There are 3 Erie B's that I get to see frequently, 2 of them getting boiler work. 2 have the bolt on second drum for crane work. I have video of one of them working, set up as a shovel, on my YT title page. Also 4 long videos of a 50-B steam shovel working.

Also for Alternator get Voltage gauge light flick I have ideas try if rebuilt or buy new one what can do get back battery post connection put small metal thin washers size of 10 cents metal coin with hole in middle of threads slip over on then one on post first in then connector also another washer put bolt on tighten up then put rubber plug on to see how works plus on cold give a squirt of high quality pentriotion fluid on each so won't corrosion on ! Hope try that out give more Volts by .5 and fully Amps too battery to and you be impressed by works it old Farmer trick to I learn long time ago and help save Electrical plus Alternator and Starter plus any additional stuff! See Volt light flick out faster plus Voltage gauge on gauge better too and be amazing on fast Cold weather Starts to!

Couple other items. (1.) I have several pieces of video that I never put up of trying to move sunk in shovels, with their engines running. They just can't climb out of the hole without help. More friction in the drivetrain than in the frictions. Usually dig ramps for the tracks and flag down a passing D8. (2.) It seems people had a habit of taking off the dipper stick to use the machine as a log loader. Then the stick somehow disappears. The machine looks complete otherwise, gears look good, hope to see it running!

There was one kinda like this way back in the woods where I grew up. Not really sure what make model but looked a lot alike with wooden cab. Had been there since they homesteaded in the 30's, no way to get it out, the trees had grown so huge. Some new developer took over the homestead 40 acre site in the 2000s and literally flattened every single tree on it. Did not see the steam shovel anywhere when I went there to see the progress, I am sure they just scrapped it, kinda sad.

Enjoyed the video. I am hoping the engine on the concrete mixer is in repairable/running condition. My cousin in 1981 converted it to run of the PTO on a tractor using the 1000 RPM mode, but have the original motor on would be GREAT!!!
