Finally! The one lesson that cleared out all my confusion with the minor scales. Everything makes perfect sense. Thank you, Brian!

This man is, hands down, one of the best guitar teachers today; truly gifted. The "Eric Clapton" of guitar teachers.

That's a brilliant lesson, Brian! Love the minor sounds and I like how you stacked them together for comparison! ♪💕

Brian, these last two lessons have been utter grand slams! It's as if you knew instinctively what I have been emphasizing in my practice lately! I'm 68 years old, and time is precious to me, so these laser-focused lessons are perfect for me. Keep 'em coming!
BTW, I'm a premium member ... I need to utilize it more!!
Thank you for plain-spoken, common sense teaching. I pray you're doing well. 🙏

Great job juggling complex and simple. Often wisdom is figuring out how to make things simple.

I’m a beginner enjoying soloing but I’ve been stuck with using the Pentatonic and Blues scales and this video is the most helpful I’ve watched in a long time. I feel like I’ll be able to add so much more after watching this. Thankyou. 👍

Brilliant lesson, Brian. Further proof of how good a teacher you are. And special thanks for filling that void for me. I always liked the sound of minor scales, but never fully grasped how I should learn them nor understood which one to use in what context. This short lesson showed me so much already, now it’s on me to do my homework and practice.

Brian, you forgot to mention that the Dorian scale is the second mode of F major. It is the F major scale. So it is the major scale a whole step below the tonic minor chord, which is the easiest way to think about it.

Isn’t the diagram of the scale shown in the video upside down? Is this the way it is always shown in your lessons? That had me confused until I realized what was going on.

Great video! Reminds me of a VHS with young Marty Friedman talking about the scales he uses and how we shouldn't worry about identifying their names, finding instead our own scales by ear. 🤘🤘

Thanks Brian. Somehow The base scale adding that one note, set me going. Like the blue note, but even more better.

Whew whooo!!! Awesome jamming man! Thanks. Idk the scales but I hear them. I would like you to share u playing when u jam out for your soul candy. That would a real treat. This vid came up in my notifications, didn’t know I was subscibed. If I’m not I will be. Only so much time and so much to nteresting choices available on life’s info menu now. All good to u and urs and theirs and theirs ad infinity, eh? Thanks again. Peace
Sounds so good! I could listen for hours really…maybe a sleep track? 💤✌️❤️🫶☮️💟🙃✌️

Great lesson. I had learned the scales and modes, played mixolydian and dorian, but I hadn't realized you can mix all like this with the minor scale. I thought the minor scale was boring. First you work hard to learn the scales just to learn you can use notes outside the scales 😁

Once I noticed, could not stop wondering - why is the bridge pickup setup with the bass side closer to the strings than the treble side? :)

For those of us who are dyslexic it would really be an amazing help if you could flip around that guitar neck diagram so that it was facing the same direction as the one on your guitar

    • @activemelody
      @activemelody  ปีที่แล้ว

i get 10 to 1 complaints if I flip it that way. the vast majority want it to be oriented the same way that the guitar neck is when you look down at it. - same is true for tablature
