Kineticist are Jedi, between the first issue and the second you can have a full space Oprah game of D&D

It's great to have a reviewer who has actually tried some of the material being reviewed. I've already subscribed, I'm looking forward to more good stuff.

Hey thanks man, that seriously means a lot! So far I've only reviewed material that has hit my table, and I'll try my best to keep it that way (or at least clarify when that isn't the case). ✌️

This was a great look-through. The class/race options here are so varied and, at least for me, really shows how possible and easy it is to transform any monster or npc type into a playable form.
On the thief skills, the option is so nice to have and it's also really nice to use just d6's in my opinion, not unlike the Thievery skill in White Box: Fantastic Medieval Adventure Game (FMAG) which effectively a reorganization of the Swords & Wizardry: White Box rules which is an OD&D retroclone that includes the Thief class... the point being that d6's are really simple and easy enough to play with (lol).
Although I do want to say that I actually don't mind at all using the default thief skills, mostly because I see them as supernatural in and of themselves, which I believe is a much more generous interpretation that allows for thieves to automatically succeed at the mundane versions of hiding and sneaking around and gives them the ability to quite literally meld with the shadows that they hide in, or to walk across squeaking floorboards or on dry leaves without so much as a single sound. In one of my favorite games, Hyperborea 3E (formerly Astonishing Swordsmen and Sorcerers of Hyperborea), thieves are explicitly said to be able to use their skills to a preternatural degree, and that interpretation to me justifies the seemingly low chances to accomplish what is for most people simply impossible.
However that is just my interpretation of it as it makes thieves much more useful as they are in my opinion, and having the optional skills system for those that need it is fantastic. More folks should definitely try out Old School games and you're helping that immensely!

I agree with your take on thieves having near-supernatural abilities! My players seem to respond better to x-in-6 chances over percentile rolls, but whatever works best for your table is always the best option!

13:26 I am looking into doing a setting similar to around 1630s Europe (Thirty Years War) with Gunpowder Magic being discovered. Working on it...

Hephaestan's are just Vulcans renamed to be named after the greek version of vulcan.

I really like this. I would love OSE to have the same variety of race and class options as most modern ttrpgs.

I really like it, too! Check out my other videos on issues 2 and 3, the class options keep expanding, and two of my favorite modern races make an appearance. \[T]/

Funny that the "Hephaestans" are just Star Trek Vulcans under another name.

Admittedly I'm not much of a Trekkie, but I can totally see the connection! Between them, the Kineticist, and the lazer weapons from issue 2, there's a ton of potential for a sick sci-fi campaign using OSE! 🤘

What’s with the annoying and repetitive Wii-like background music?
