Great razor with no gimmicks, slim head to get under the nose, handle has good grip and doesn't feel cheap, their shave gel and balm smell nice. Glad there are more alternatives to Gillette

I was disappointed with the safety razor, single blade and needed to be extra careful with it else an easy cut. Gillette and Schick was a toss-up between both brands, basically whichever was cheaper at the time and neither of them was cheap when it comes to their head replacement but a lot more comfortable than a safety razor for sure. Dollar Shave Club was the new kid on the block and I did admit that the home delivery concept was nice, and the replacement blades were so much cheaper but I was having problems with their shipments and from time to time there the handle was nice, but the razor heads was still a bit expensive in general but far cheaper than the other two. Overall I stick with Harry's and sometimes forget about them until I get a shipping update from FedEx that I am getting a delivery sent to me. Realizing "oh yeah I was running out of razors replacement this month". Although I do have to admit DSC does have a LOT of many options to choose from in terms of toiletries though they do get to be expensive VERY fast and is a subscription-based service it can get out of hand if you're not keeping an eye on it like a hawk. Long story short, I like Harry's they are simple and fair with their products, they don't push you to hop into a new product with every checkout or promotional item that comes with some sort of hidden fees like additional shipping fees (had happened to me with DSC), so if you are a cheap person like myself, Harry's is the best choice to go with while having a good product that rivals those of Schick's and Gillette's offering without the burden of using different heads that doesn't go with just a handle.

At last I can ditch my Wilkinson Hydro which I defected to following the Gillette advert, though the shave was not good with the hydro and Gillette much better. Harry's is definitely equivalent to Gillette and cheaper , lets hope it stays that way , as long as I don't have to subscribe and just buy it in Boots when I chose to. However I see it is now owned by the big guys Wilkinson !
Both Harry's and DSC are now owned by Unilever. Basically a Unilever version of P&G's Gillette(minus the tech that Gillette posses that is). It's not the same company anymore. Go for Schick or Dorco instead.
I started using a gillette fusion 5 when i was 16 then i bought a safety razor last year but cause im still young the first 3 shaves with a gillette platinum blade cuts my face a lot so ive gone back to using a gillette cartridge razor for now got a harrys one coming on tuesday cause ive heard great things from them but im still sticking to lathering up with a brush and toobs grapefruit shave soap
Update I used Harry's razers for a couple of weeks I didn't care for them. But I still love there bodywash and can't find anything better so I'm sticking with there bodywash
Harry's is like shaving with a cheese grater the stubble it left behind a gillet I already had 2 months use on cleaned up the stubble up with no nicks no burns
Hadn't thought of it as a cheesgrater and really wanted Harry's to be better then Gillette plus give Gillette a run for the money. But I think all these blades are massively overpriced, and, having grazed myself yesterday with a Harry's (removed a patch of skin from my chin and drew blood) I'm cancelling my Harry's subscription today and returning to Gillette. I wish Harry's luck but if they can have my business again at a much lower price and a more flexible head.
Me neither. Their razors were always overpriced but useable. however, since they went woke and decided that my intersectional group (white , cis male) is responsible for all the ills of the western world, I will not opress them by insisting they take my money.
Thanks for the review. Very helpful. After 50 years of shaving, I am trying to get away from Gillette blades so I too can "be the best I can be". I'm going to try Harrys...hopefully they will work out.
@@twangoldenbass well...I’ve been using Harry’s for 8 months now and sadly....am not as pleased with them as I had hoped. I can’t seem to get a consistent close shave. I will stick with them for now and probably will try something else (not Gillette) till I find something that works.
@@TheAirplaneDriver Try getting a DE safety razor - once you get the technique they offer a much better shave but not many people know that as they don't have the marketing budget of Gillette etc.
Unbelievable, talk talk talk....all I was looking is, I tried Gillette on the left side of my face and Harry on the right and XYZ was better, that's it
If I go about 3 days without a shave Harry's just rips my stubble out. I'm half japanese so my stubble doesn't grow fast. Maybe 1 or 2mm in a few days. Just plain hurts when I shave. I'm using a decent Edge brand gel cream also. I've tried leaving the shaving cream on my face for a few minutes before shaving I've tried different concentrations of water and shaving cream nothing seems to help. I truly believe it's just the razors. Literally feels like I'm just dry shaving. Trying to find something that works better.
I find that I get a better shave by far with Gillette vs Harry's. I also find the five blade Gillette version is far less likely to cause nicks compared to the three blade type.
I use Harrys, been for the last few years, I get 8 blades each month... decided few years ago, anything that is sharp of the face needs a decent set up, use 2 blades a week
I don’t think the Gillette Mach 3 will ever be bettered, 2 blades isn’t enough and you get pull when shaving, 4 blades is too much, the blades get clogged up. I don’t know what the sales have been for other products but I’d bet that the Mach 3 is the best selling razor of all time (possibly after Bic disposables).
I switched from Harry's to Gillette, I work on the military so shaving every day is a must. Gillette far outperforms Harry's any day of the week and making the switch has been probably the best decision I have made in my life.
a target store near me has two full aisles of Harry's razor blades, soap, shaving cream. I was thinking about switching, but I have a rough & tuff beard. so can Harry blades shave it. also I have sensitive skin + after I shave sometime my face gets irritated from shaving. it's hard to find a good razors today
I still use Gillette because I love the power handle that houses a battery. It micro-pulses the blades over my skin better than hand pressure alone. The cooling lubrication strips are another benefit. Hate paying the high price though.
@@iamthestormthatisapproaching69 I got rid of TV due to ads and block em at any opportunity. However, hunted both down after reading comments on here and agree with the general consensus. Not a Harry's or Gillette fan now :o( Going to grow an enormous beard.
Because of my Amer-Indian(Guatemalan) background, I only need to shave three of four times a week. I use a Philips/Norelco electric shaver(leaves my face as smooth as a baby's behind), then to "fine tune" my face, for that "ideal"/optimum shave, I use a Gillette Fusion 5 or comparable, or one of my three shaving handles(with the "ball", without and the Fusion power[vibrates with a AAA battery]) and a Fusion cartridge razor(still using the same one for over six months) that has a precision trimmer on the back for the corners of my mouth and sideburns. I use the disposables (Bic)razors that the hotel staff leaves in my room if I don't want to clean my electric one. Need to shave slowly and with GREAT care for a decent shave. P.S. I still use my Mach 3, Mach 3 Turbo AND my Gillette Sensor(had it since the early 1990's) until my five packs of SENSOR cartridges run out. Once in a while, I use my Schick Hydro 5 as I like the weight of the handle and it leaves me with a decent shave too.
I shave my head all the time. Every few days or say, with Gillette the prices are more expensive and the blades don't last as long however with Harry's, the shave is closer and the blades last longer. With Gillette I can get 2 weeks out of one blade, with Harry's I actually got a month out of each blade. I purchased 12 blades from Harry's for $20 USD and Gillette is $45U SD for the same amount. Go with Harry's, thank me later.
OneBlade Core does it for me. It's just as easy to use as Harry's, but the result is so much better since it only has one blade on it. Also, you save money over time since cartridges are more expensive than SE razor blades. Though I would also recommend a shaving brush since you can get even closer to the skin without damaging it.
Honestly, my only regret about buying Harry's is buying the Winston with the Chrome finish before the graphite finish came out. Just a more appealing colorway to me.
I went back to Gillette after Harry’s added the useless Trimmer Blade. Maybe it works for squaring off sideburns, but the cartridge is too bulky for any precision work and it often cut me under the nose while using the main blades. Then I had to stop the bleeding before starting my day. Now I’m using a Gillette MP-3 and inexpensive disposables for tight in work under my nose. With such limited use a 6 pack of disposables should last for years.
Gillette has dropped their prices and it really reflects in the most current quality. I have been using Mach 3 forever, never had a reason to stop using until recently. The blades I purchased from a well known pharmacy chain were sharp but they seemed to be angled wrong. This happened the last 2 times I bought blades at 2 different locations. It’s obvious in my opinion they changed the materials or the place of manufacture. I am not even gonna bother sending the unused blades back. I will try Harry’s.
Neither blow me away re shave quality. I still prefer my safety razor where you can change out the blades for pennies and enjoy a clean sharp shave each time. With practice it's also equally fast plus you don't get ingrown hairs due to the single blade.
Been using Harry's for a while now and I now have the best shave I have had for years. Although Harry's DON'T recommend their razors for head shaving I have found even here that it's the smoothest my head has felt for many years.
Double Edge Safety razors and choosing your own razor blades is the best and is less irritating. Using proper shaving soaps and prep will help the less experienced shaver still using cartridge razors too. Shaving like our grandpa is also better for the environment as razors last a lifetime and blades have no plastic waste and can be recycled. Not to mention razor blades are much cheaper than cartridge refills.
Facial hair has different textures and thickness. Facial skin again is different concerning prep and allergies of product. This what you have to consider when shopping for shaving and maintaining your facial look and skin. It is indeed a hard to find comfortable product.
I find Harry’s and DSC razors aren’t great for sensitive skin. I was using Harry’s for a few months, but then Gillette came out with the SkinGuard and it’s completely blown all other cartridges out of the water for me. I have desperately tried to get into DE shaving, but it takes too many passes (with, across and against the grain) to get a close shave, which causes mad skin irritation. So, coming back to cartridges I think and, as I said, the SkinGuard is incredible for sensitive skin.
I actually think all the multi-blade heads aren’t that good. The old 2 and three blade cartridges were way better, so I find I get a better shave with Gillette’s disposable razors which are way cheaper.
I bought a Fusion 5 and I do like it but it can snag off and on. Harry’s sent me a trial offer with 1 shave Gel and 1 🪒 and 8 replacement blades 21.00 value for 3 shipping. Can’t wait to try it out and I will be doing a comparison and then chose the best of the 2. Great video.
I used Gillette for years and loved it. My only problem with them is the price. Harrys are around half the price. I do find that I get a closer shave with Gillette though
I gave Harry’s a try when it first started popping up on my local WalMart. It really irritated my skin and gave me the most bumps on my face since I first started shaving with single blade razors. I like to shave against the grain and the WalMart brand, Equate, has really been a good razor. They’re relatively cheap, are always in stock and provide me with a good shave. I also only need to shave about twice a month because I don’t care if I have a stubble and because my facial hair grows slowly.
Had my first Harry's shave today and it feels great. It looks simple but elegant. It's easy to chose blades, Gillette is confusing. U don't want to buy the wrong blade. I think I will stick with Harry's. I don't like spending so much time trying to buy something.
At 74 years of age, I have tried both products. They are both good. From your review there is no slam dunk winner but you missed one major difference - customer service. Set everything else aside, which is the best to deal with? I wrote to Harry's via email and received a meaningful, prompt exchange. Try contacting Gillette. There is a phone number, but when I contact a company I prefer it in writing. Gillette provide no email contact or even an address. I do not want to provide meaningful feedback to a call taker who may or may not pass it on. Bottom line, I do not do business with a company who makes it difficult for customers to reach them. They are putting their needs ahead of their customers'.

What about dollar shave club?
It's not worth it. You can search up Dorco I think thats name. But they make dollar shave clubs razors and if you order from them. Its cheaper
Dollar shave club is a scam, priced up bargain bin cartridge razors of shitty quality. Aldi use them as their own brand
Both Harry's and DSC are now owned by Unilever. Basically a Unilever version of P&G's Gillette(minus the tech that Gillette posses that is). It's not the same company anymore.
Go for Schick or Dorco instead.
My hairs feels very dry and brittle i can't move my hands along my hairs what should i do?
I started using a gillette fusion 5 when i was 16 then i bought a safety razor last year but cause im still young the first 3 shaves with a gillette platinum blade cuts my face a lot so ive gone back to using a gillette cartridge razor for now got a harrys one coming on tuesday cause ive heard great things from them but im still sticking to lathering up with a brush and toobs grapefruit shave soap
Switched to DE shaving over a year ago. Best decision I made, cheaper, no gimmicks and a better quality shave.
But I
think all these blades are massively overpriced, and, having grazed myself yesterday with a Harry's (removed a patch of skin from my chin and drew blood) I'm cancelling my Harry's subscription today and returning to Gillette. I wish Harry's luck but if they can have my business again at a much lower price and a more flexible head.
I love Harry’s it’s the only shaver that gets all my hair
I wouldn’t go back to Gillette
I will never buy Gilettes razor, cant support that company.
Me neither. Their razors were always overpriced but useable. however, since they went woke and decided that my intersectional group (white , cis male) is responsible for all the ills of the western world, I will not opress them by insisting they take my money.
Alan Dawson Triggered lol
Alan Dawson I knew they were sexist but didn’t know they were racist..
Josh Rhode They’re neither lmao. Triggered
I stopped buying Gillette when they starting to get preachy about what it means to be a "real" man. No thanks.
Just got a Harry’s razor and 4 refills for 28 quid on Amazon.
Thanks for the review. Very helpful. After 50 years of shaving, I am trying to get away from Gillette blades so I too can "be the best I can be". I'm going to try Harrys...hopefully they will work out.
Did you switch? If so, how do you like Harry’s now?
@@twangoldenbass well...I’ve been using Harry’s for 8 months now and sadly....am not as pleased with them as I had hoped. I can’t seem to get a consistent close shave. I will stick with them for now and probably will try something else (not Gillette) till I find something that works.
@@TheAirplaneDriver Try getting a DE safety razor - once you get the technique they offer a much better shave but not many people know that as they don't have the marketing budget of Gillette etc.
If you're a man that respects yourself you won't use Gillette. Use a safety razor och Philips OneBlade. Don't go anywhere near Gillette!
you mean the post 1971 Gillettes :) Cause they made some nice safety razors from Gillette.
HaasGrotesk It’s not that serious 😂
It’s crazy how so many products today are on a subscription basis.
Drop both. , use Jeremy's Razors.
What’s the Gillette in the beginning? Looks like a Gillette Fusion 5 Proglide In black and chrome?
Hello.
Have you ever used the Gillette fusion 5 proglide power razor? Is there any difference shave wise when using a manual handle
Thanks
Where did you get the mist from? Couldn't see it on your link
I have start using Harry...after gellite...Harry is good brand..
Simple Harry’s. They sell Razors and Don’t try to make you feel bad about being a man. Smash the thumbs up if you’re still boycotting Gillette.
Agree
Unbelievable, talk talk talk....all I was looking is, I tried Gillette on the left side of my face and Harry on the right and XYZ was better, that's it
I still never got an answer
It'll vary from person to person so only you can decide that. For this guy, Harry's was better and Gillette needs to up their game
Thank you for sharing great tips
Any razor as safe as Gillette skinguard but finer in cutting?
Great review!!
I use Gillete foam for shaving
I use Harrys, been for the last few years, I get 8 blades each month... decided few years ago, anything that is sharp of the face needs a decent set up, use 2 blades a week
My Gillette razor blades last me a month. Why would anyone want to go through two a week when you can use once a month?
I don’t think the Gillette Mach 3 will ever be bettered, 2 blades isn’t enough and you get pull when shaving, 4 blades is too much, the blades get clogged up. I don’t know what the sales have been for other products but I’d bet that the Mach 3 is the best selling razor of all time (possibly after Bic disposables).
I absolutely agree. Can't say I'm a big fan of the company but the mach 3 is the best all around blade
I switched from Harry's to Gillette, I work on the military so shaving every day is a must. Gillette far outperforms Harry's any day of the week and making the switch has been probably the best decision I have made in my life.
Gillette pushes transgender i won’t use their products
i WON'T be buying any more Harry's or Gillette's razors.....I'm tired of being HATED by WOKE corporations !
@@jordansheppard6643 who cares what they push. As long as their razors work idgaf what their ideology is.
@Bernardo Trujillo disposable ones work best for me. Is only like $6 a pack.
a target store near me has two full aisles of Harry's razor blades, soap, shaving cream. I was thinking about switching, but I have a rough & tuff beard. so can Harry blades shave it. also I have sensitive skin + after I shave sometime my face gets irritated from shaving. it's hard to find a good razors today
It’s been over a year yes harrys can handle that
I've used both Harry's and Gillette Fusion, and they're both similar in performance. I also use my vintage Gillette slim adjustable too.
I still use Gillette because I love the power handle that houses a battery. It micro-pulses the blades over my skin better than hand pressure alone. The cooling lubrication strips are another benefit. Hate paying the high price though.
Thinking of shifiting from cartridge to safety razor
Big Deuce - 10 razors, $3 - works great and great value
Harry's all the way, been using for 2 years, best razor I have ever used, and NO I do not work for them LOL
Great vid as always Robin ! 😁
Both do cringeworthy ads
Never watched any harrys ads
@@iamthestormthatisapproaching69 the Gillete comercial attacking men was wack
@@iamthestormthatisapproaching69 I got rid of TV due to ads and block em at any opportunity. However, hunted both down after reading comments on here and agree with the general consensus. Not a Harry's or Gillette fan now :o( Going to grow an enormous beard.
Redondo9 harrys dosent have ad’s ???
And is it necessary to use a shmapoo before conditioning it?
And, how many times a week i can use a conditioner?
I've tried both ..For me Gillett wins hands down.. way better.
I use Philips 9000 series & Gillette Mach 3..... Don’t see Harry’s in stores here
I shave my head all the time.
Great Video Men!
Do review on osmo Clay wax and tigi bed head manipulator Matt wax
Im in love with this new background!❤
Answer: Jeremy’s Razors.
You mean subscription service or as an employee?
The guy is a Malcom McDowell look-alike. From when he was young in the late 1970s.
Facial hair has different textures and thickness. Facial skin again is different concerning prep and allergies of product. This what you have to consider when shopping for shaving and maintaining your facial look and skin. It is indeed a hard to find comfortable product.
I switched to Harry’s a couple of years ago but they jacked their prices up & their razor eat my face up now. I’m looking for a different razor.
Good review
I find Harry’s and DSC razors aren’t great for sensitive skin. I was using Harry’s for a few months, but then Gillette came out with the SkinGuard and it’s completely blown all other cartridges out of the water for me.
I have desperately tried to get into DE shaving, but it takes too many passes (with, across and against the grain) to get a close shave, which causes mad skin irritation.
So, coming back to cartridges I think and, as I said, the SkinGuard is incredible for sensitive skin.
U should try the new Shavelogic Razor!!! Supposed to be the best cartridge razor u can get!
This is a very underrated channel ❤️
I have both of these razors and I like my Gillette more. The Harry's didn't feel as smooth going across my face compared to the Gillette.
What about boldking?
Had my first Harry's shave today and it feels great. It looks simple but elegant. It's easy to chose blades, Gillette is confusing. U don't want to buy the wrong blade. I think I will stick with Harry's. I don't like spending so much time trying to buy something.
@desertmandan123you’re mad over razors bro. Grow up
I do like Harry’s but I do get cut but they are new razors at the moment
harry’s soap game is on top
