I've been a long-time subscriber now and I admire your dedication to always atleast try to make all these used (also sometimes abused) cars look and feel as good as they can, for many of them it is what they deserve. I wish all used car dealerships around where I live would do the same. If they did, then looking for a "new" car would be a rather joyful experience as compared to what it is today. Every car in basically all the used car lots, sometimes looking as rough and ragged like when you first buy them and featuring them in your videos, they'd charge a premium price for. Expecting the buyer/customer to do all these small (or in some cases rather large) fixes by themselves after purchase. It's sad and frustrating. Keep on doing what you do, it's bloody marvellous!
There is no doubt, since the pandemic, everything has become so much more expensive, be it a haircut or a bill from a garage., Garages know that we need to use them to keep a warranty valid or simply just stay on the road so they can nearly charge whatever they want. That is a lovely A class and the new owner will be delighted. Good job.

In the summer of 2023 a friend asked me to go with her yo choose a second hand A class. We looked at several cars at a mercedes dealer and I was shocked. The cars had a lot of problems that I wouldn't find in my 15 years and 1 day old Citröen C4 has. All the door handles where lose, the centre console in pretty much all cars was wobbly, the parcel shelf was starting to flake and in general, I dint got that premium, built to last feeling I was expecting. Then we went to see some Astra's and those looked so much better built. To be clear, none of the A class had more than 60.000km
The A class is just a PCP or lease cars to get people who don't have Mercedes money to buy the A class which is not really a Mercedes at all unless you get the higher spec stuff. The low to mid spec stuff has the drivetrain from a Renault Megane. Anyways it's a car for idiots to try and look cool.

Appreciate your honesty Matt. It´s the sign of the times - used cars are just like luxury watches these days. The buyers are fewer and far between and they don`t part with their money easily cause they don`t have a lot to spend.
Someone correct me if I’m wrong. Car brake discs are made of cast iron. It dissipates heat well and is relatively cheap. Cast iron by its nature rusts very easy but doesn’t degrade its efficiency. Rear discs are prone to surface rust due to the front discs actually doing all the real work. Too many rear discs are replaced that would not fail an MOT for brake efficiency.

Whenever Matt says hes going to do a gearbox service you just know probably 90% of other dealers dont do that..first off most customers wouldnt know if its due and secondly if its working fine most just dont bother. The plan usually is hope it lasts 6 months and a day then its definitely someone elses problem.

My understanding Matt the engines are chain driven not rubber. As long as regular oil changes are carried out there should be no issues. I drive the 2017 Megane 1.6 dci. And it’s been superb.

Rear brake discs and pads for brembos (which i doubt they use) on that car is around £150 possibly £120 woth some discounts. (Parts only). Feels like a high labour rate to get to over £400!

Matt, stay with your current approach! You sort out your cars thoroughly. I would happily buy a car from you - and that is a very rare thing for me to say. Your reputation for selling good cars is your long term future; your USP. Without that you’d be just another dodgy car dealer.

Hey Matt, you always check the tyre tread depth when inspecting these cars, but I had Pirelli P-Zeros on my previous car with loads of tread left that had to be replaced to get it through its MOT because the side walls were cracking. Do you find this is a common problem? Cheers.
And out of that net profit shown at the end you also have rent on your premises, heating and lighting, wages, advertising, insurances ... I hope the YT channel brings in a decent income to offset that!

Yes. So knock another £250 off that net margin so it works out around £800 to pay wages, property, advertising, insurance, fuel, warranty etc. 😢

I love the fact that you do give the facts. But I’d still like to see how customers warranty expectations and you handle warranty claims, Do you think if you strive to give a perfect second hand car increases or decreases what they expect?

Matt, stay with your current approach! You sort out your cars thoroughly. I would happily buy a car from you - and that is a very rare thing for me to say. Your reputation for selling good cars is your long term future; your USP. Without that you’d be just another dodgy car dealer.

i hate EV's with a passion, doesn't help i nearly got killed by one, because of how quiet they are, i much prefer Hybrids and surely they are the future.
All electric cars scare me as they are too darn quiet.
How does them being quiet almost cause you to die?

@@SOULSEEKERBEATS Only an issue if you don't you look before you cross the road. Also my pure petrol car is often not heard by pedestrians walking in the road around car parks even if I'm right up behind them.

Hey Matt, you always check the tyre tread depth when inspecting these cars, but I had Pirelli P-Zeros on my previous car with loads of tread left that had to be replaced to get it through its MOT because the side walls were cracking. Do you find this is a common problem? Cheers.
And out of that net profit shown at the end you also have rent on your premises, heating and lighting, wages, advertising, insurances ... I hope the YT channel brings in a decent income to offset that!
