I honestly think that Young Do doesn’t want Eun Sang to go to Kim Tan, not just because he hopes Eun Sang will eventually go to him but also because he really thinks she will end up deeply hurt if she perseveres in her feelings for Tan
Let’s remember that Young Do lives in a world where he has never seen a love story conclude happily and that Tan is after all the son of a man who couldn’t make any of his women happy or even give a proper title to the woman he « loved ». Young Do probably thinks that Tan may end up behaving like his father and he doesn’t want to see Eun Sang end up like Tan’s mom
