I’ve been looking at the pocket for years, but finally just ordered one. I can’t wait to get it on the river!

It's a great boat, I especially like mine solo.

@@travelbywater9378 I’ll be primarily solo, but I wanted the option of bringing my wife, my dog or a buddy along.

She's a beaut! Sold the prospector to make room in the garage for her.

This looks like a nice boat! I’m still on the fence between this and the Prospecteur 15. I feel like with the higher rockers and being .5’ shorter this would be perfect for river tripping and white water but unsure about how nice it would be on open lakes. I appreciate the video

I do more than half my paddling with it on flat water. It's not bad. Tricky to solo in much wind, but the Prospector might be too.

The prospecter 15 is ok but not great on flatwater. You’re better off with two boats or a 16ftr if you need a tandem for everything

Very nice review. I think you are just going to love that boat the longer you have it! (I have one too)

I am already loving it. Buddy asked me, "taking the sailboat out soon?". Nope. Lol.

Thanks for the review. Looking a balanced, solo canoe for small river and bayou, and paddle to remote hunting spots. 59lb is very nice. While I don't see myself using it for whitewater, non where I live, I may face windy lake with whitecaps from time to time. Thanks for the overview.

If you aren't going to be paddling white water there are other Esquif models that may work well for you. Echo or Prospector 15.

Thanks, it's a really fun boat. Canoes are just amazing.

excellent review, thank you. I think this will be my next canoe. I've paddled the Esquif Canyon before and liked the way it handled a lot. I have a Clipper Yukon, so a smaller river runner would be useful to me.
Where did you film this? Looks like the Pacific Northwest?

      @travelbywater9378  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I have paddled a few Clippers. Great boats, like Esquif, good bang for the buck. This was filmed in South Eastern Ontario on a couple of tributaries to the Rideau River.

How do you use a paddle float for self rescue? Super interested in your technique for that. I've got the same canoe btw!

I have a couple of sturdy bungee on the yoke. Canoe handle and shaft goes through the bungees, paddle float on the blade. Reboard like a kayak.

such a great little canoe eh? i've had one for the last 7 years and it's a lot of fun with the wife and i, and i love solo'ing it. i'm a big lanky guy and it's got a playboat like feel for me.

Yeah, I am living it. I have used it mostly solo but want to get the kids out in it more.

I don't like those grab ropes with holes drilled in the hull ... no no no.

    • @travelbywater9378

On the bow and stern? Came from the manufacturer like that.

@@travelbywater9378 I know ... they are not needed. Why drill 4 holes in the hull for something not needed?
