To be fair, this has nothing to do with David losing people, not much anyway.
I'm not sure anyone realized, but David had a REALLY abusive mother, and I've had similar parents.
She basically forced him to live the life SHE wanted, and guilt tripped him every time he wanted to live his own, crying and balling when he disobeyed, he couldn't even spam his leg for stress relief, she told him to stop it.
She was basically putting him in a nightmare life to live through him so she could say she was in the Arasaka family, I mean think about it, what type of people REALLY wanna join Arasaka? That's exactly why he is the way he is, he's got psychological childhood trauma, of being guilt tripped into not doing what everyone else wants.
Think about it, it's what lucy keeps saying to him, he needs to live his own dream, but he can't, he still keeps his mothers ashes, wears her jacket, hesitates to knock out the Arasaka guy even though hes clearly just wanting him to test the cyber-skeleton, it was so bad he was on the edge of betraying his whole crew and Lucy just to not let his mom down.
At the end hes like "look mom, I'm at the top of Arasaka tower"
It's so ingrained deep in him he does it with everyone, he carries on maines arms and "just keeps running" Endlessly upgrading because that's what maine wanted for himself, now carrying on his dream.
And lastly, living for Lucy at the end, just to accomplish her dream.
This all comes down to the emotional and psychological abuse of his mother, if she never constantly shamed him for basically not doing her will, none of this woulda happened, he'd have stopped upgrading FAR earlier, and noped out with Lucy LONG ago to live in some other safe location.
Just for Context there is a way to Cure Cyberpsychosis.
Mike Pondsmith, the guy who created Cyberpunk has said that cyberpsychosis can be cured by love.
It's Human connection that helps a person recover from it and love is the strongest form of connection.
That is why David is this resistant, his Love for Lucy litteraly keeps him sane.
I've never heard of that. I really like that tho. A bit of hope in that fcuked up world is awesome
But the real reason he was resistant in the first place was because of how much Gloria was such a good mother to him.
Give Maine some credit to
Yeah. Gloria did 80% of the Prep. Maine did another 20% and after that his Love for Lucy carried him to the End.

There’s some kind of beautifully twisted irony to David fulfilling the 3 wishes entrusted to him in the most skewed way possible:
-His mom wanted him to get to the top of Arasaka Tower. Well, he got there, at least physically.
-Maine wanted him to make it big, and man he definitely made a name for himself after this shit and his psychosis
-He got Lucy to the moon just like he promised, after she decided she just wants to stay where she is and live a comfortable live with David as her partner.
There’s probably more in that regard but these are the ones that stand out the most and let the show end on a pretty strong note
Bittersweet
David's life, from start to finish in the series, is foretold not just by the opening but also his "theme song" title + lyrics ( performed by his english VA no less )
Song: let you down ( which they release with sasha's story on yt )
In the game you can get a drink named after him, which canonically is only ever done for true legends of night city, so he definitely fulfilled that 2nd wish

It must've done. I could've flooded my living room floor when I watched it. I felt like a part of me died when Rebecca did and I'm so glad Lucy didn't take off her helmet like I thought she was gonna do. I think I might've cried myself into a coma if she did

love her character but she was literally just davids glorified hype man and thats how NC will remember her, if they will at all. Smasher literally squished her like a bug, he at least gave David the respect of giving him a chance for any last words, maybe even an offer for joining together, and wasted a bullet on his head. That is why David has a drink, he pissed off Adam enough to be a nuisance
Dammit CDPR had the bag and blew it with their mediocre buggy game. It's sad that this is faraway the best way to experience CP2077.
I don't even blame them. It's just they didn't have the capacity to realize the vision. I wish they got another chance at it.
@Blackman Whitesuit they did have another chance at it. Get the game now. Cyberpunk literally was number one on steam charts for at least a month or two when this show released. The game is in a good state now though I think certain elements are lacking like for example Adam Smasher is still a little bitch in the game and cops represent zero threat at all
The cyberpsycho quests make the game worth it all by themselves. There's moments of genuine terror to be had.
The YT channel How To Drink has made his own versions of the Johnny Silverhand, the Jackie and the David Martinez, and he even invented his own version for Rebecca.

But it is not mediocre by any metric, maybe mediocre by CDPR's extremely high standards they set with Witcher 2 and 3 but still a very high quality game compared to the rest of AAA games in the industry with some memorable characters and a really good story with some flaws. They had to deal with a lot of technical problems and they really had to delay this game 2 more years tbh, as I think they were really struggling to optimize and creating the city itself took too much of the budget which made it difficult to polish rest of the stuff. It could have been so much more but a very good game nonetheless. The hype ruined it imo, if this came out without the overrated hype, the expectations would have been more reasonable for a Studio who is trying to get used to a city based cyberpunk RPG as opposed to a dark fantasy setting. Cyberpunk 2077 felt more like a Witcher 1/2 type situation where they are trying to get the feel of things. Expect a major improvement in the new expansion and the sequel.
Also mediocre by what standards? Your expectations? The game still has some of the best world building, characters, world design, art design and open world level design in the entire industry. The game has serious issues and flaws, but it's far from mediocre and excells at many things. There are moments where you feel this is the best game ever and then you go this doesn't work, it's crap. It's somewhere in between mediocre and phenomenal. The game has some extremely well crafted and amazingly thought provoking side quests in gaming history, but there are some unbalanced elements in the rpg systems and gameplay. Also it has the best combat in action RPGs involving shooting. It's way better than anything Fallout, Deus Ex, Outer Worlds has ever done. Weird mix tbh. I really can't rate it accurately. There are both equal amounts of amazing stuff and bad stuff.
Aaron actually put everything together relatively quickly, pretty cool that he understood the story well from only one episode

I don't think so. Not only was Aaron not a part of the reaction, for reasons unknown, but he didn't watch it on his own. And with his job in a reaction channel watching things on your free time is kind of tiring, he has said this before just like the others, so without this he might actually never watch the show. Be glad
It's super cool how, at the end of the series, Rebecca was given an ice cream and a puppy and lived happily ever after and that's definitely what happened and I'm not crying, you're crying.

I love how fast paced it was. It's refreshing to watch an anime that doesn't drag its story for too long.
Although I admit that I would have liked to watch 1 or 2 more episodes to see more of the first team and more of the timeskip transition
1-2 eps before and after main dies would've been great, seeing the team handle it *together* would make an already tragic ending even more fucked.

To my knowledge and maybe it's a theory, but Adam Smasher being full borg and not having Cyberpsychosis is due to the fact that you need to have emotions in order for your brain to fry. He was a mass murdering killer before he got the upgrades so he was almost born to be the best suited for them, until the Cyber God V comes along of course. His appearance is a little downplayed in the game, but the history with him is fantastic and I think they did a great job showing him here, kinda like hearing about how powerful Vader was in the OT but actually getting to see him do shit in Rogue One.
Also some fun little extras, you can get David's Jacket in the game, you can get Lucy's apartment and meet Falco and, if you go to where Rebecca died in the show in the game, you can grab her shotgun Guts in a nearby bush.
He is a cyberpsycho. Mike Pondsmith (Creator of Adam Smasher and Cyberpunk tabletop RPG) identified Adam Smasher as a "high functioning cyberpsycho".

Smasher is a cyberpsycho, high functioning, like Johnny and V, Maine and David lasted so long because of the fact they are actually good people, but they both went psycho because they started treating chrome like an item, and not themselves.
@@livingphantom You have to know, lore wise, Cyber Psycho refers to an entire suite of psychological problems that come from "chroming". The TV shows sorta distills that to only mean the violent psychos but not all Cyber Psychos are insane random killers. Adam is considered a high functioning Cyber Psycho. His sociopathy is his Psychosis.
Fun Fact! The bar "Afterlife" in night city, where most of the hot shot mercs hang, names drinks after famous cyberpunks. One condition, you have to go out in a blaze of glory.
At least 6 months before the release of Edgerunners, they added a drink called the "David Martinez" to Cyberpunk 2077 (the game) that you could buy in the Afterlife.

I was upset that Rebecca was killed off. She was definitely one of the best supporting characters on the show. Her character development and her personality was amazing. I was really hoping she would survived this.

Trigger actually did two episodes of Visions. They did The Twins and The Elder (the one with the old Sith guy). They have some serious range, not just over-the-top crazy!

This finale is so hard to rewatch, but I really appreciate y'all doing it and bringing in a fresh pair of eyes for contrast.
It's honestly a tragedy, this was THE PENULTIMATE point of the show where everyone balled their eyes out and it just so happens that it's one of the videos you lose the footage of. I'm glad it's up here for TH-cam closure, but damn this would've been an amazing reaction to watch raw

I agree with Rick's nitpick here. This show was already amazing as it is, but if i could have just one more episode, I wish they could've shown more of how Arasaka was a constant threat in the shadows, and how that pushed David to more cybernetics, and Lucy to become more distant, trying to kill anyone tracking them. It was the main tension point in their relationship, and it feels like things could've ended better for them if they just had one decent conversation. Obviously they're both extremely dysfunctional and incapable of healthy communication so i get it, but if Trigger could've shown how Arasaka was this super scary threat constantly hounding them and pushing them to extremes, it would be perfect.

Thank You for putting this up even though you lost the original footage. And yeah I completely agree with Rick that this is the best video game adaptation I have ever seen. Having put in over 200 hours before watching the show, it felt like a love letter to the game and Mike Pondsmith's TTRPG.
I wasn’t expecting to cry rewatching this 😅 by the way the ending credits is supposedly the aftermath of the fight, Lucy’s reaction fits perfectly to reacting to David’s death

I like to imagine the entire chase pokes fun at how bad the driving and driving AI was in the game at launch... just like police and trauma team just spawning out of sight real close to the action.
They should make a season 2 where suddenly there are realistic car chases and just call it Edgerunners 2.0

A great easter egg for the show, is if you go to Afterlife (main club) in the game you can buy a drink called 'David Martinez'. The club is famous for selling drinks named after legends who have died in the city.
I think I speak for a lot of people that we would love to watch someone from Blidwave play CP2077.

I did say on an earlier part to buckle up as the end was brutal, as it often is for most in Night City, you don't get happy endings. Adam Smasher is not just Arasaka's thumping right fist but he's also the game's final boss. You have to play all the way through to get even with him. I always make sure I do as he's now owed not just for Johnny Silverhand but for David and Rebecca as well.
That song literally traumatized me lol. I can't listen to it without bawling

Fighting Atom Smasher in the game was a blast! Took alot of firepower and inhancements to beat him. I think I used almost all the ones I had. FUN!!!

"Mr Studd" is an available option in universe for the discerning gentleman looking to improve on what nature has gifted them with. It's referenced in CP2077 in the quest "Burning Desire" - V has to help someone with a faulty implant known to them as Flaming Crotch Man.

I loved this car chase so much ,cause "in law" the cars flying all over is a meme. Some might complain but it´s not getting boring when cars randomly rain from the sky or crash through wall when you play your game.
God damnit :( I really wanted to see their original reaction to the David and Lucy in the air scene and Rebecca death scene.
Well that's really tragic. The most anticipated reaction I was looking for...
I love this world and anime it is one of the most faithful adaptations I've ever seen. Nearly everything in this show is in the video game. The guns, mods/chrome, cars, locations, the music, UI, Hacks and certain characters you can see the show like Rogue and Wakako are in the game.
And now when playing cyberpunk 2077 everytime "I wanna stay at your house" - By Rosa Walton comes on the radio i just sit in the vehicle feeling sad.
Also yeah there are plenty of cool references to Edgerunners in the game now. Including the graves of the crew and the drink at Afterlife the David Martinez. If you make it big in NC and go out in a blaze of glory you get a drink named after you at the Afterlife club.
It is the to my knowledge the second worst fictional world to live in. There is only 1 world worse than this and that is 40k.

can you look into the background noise that often pops up in the videos? like it's humming and humming, but sometimes shuts down. For example, you can hear it in the "david" segment here, and how it shuts down at 19.32.
If it's just some dude with a drill outside on the street, then, whatever)
But if it's some kind of PC cooler that just too close to the mic, it might be worth it to rearrange it.
