The TF185 was the farm version and had usually had the round bar swingarm. A lot of people ride it but swapover the later model TS185 square/box swingarm and its better borks. The TF185 tank is bigger too.
Brilliant build, simply elegant. Admire your vision and engineering expertise. I am looking at acquiring the TS 185 for the reason you explained why it is a great bike for local use, country roads and trails and weekend drives. Again, thank you for sharing.
Love it mate. The TS185ER was my first ever bike at the age of 11. Could not touch the floor at all and had to pull up next to walls and vans to lean it on to get off of it. Scared the shit out of me every time,
That’s a nice build’ wish I had a workshop guy’s ‘ great vision 👍 an underrated weapon I’ll add too ‘ what a machine then ‘ and NOW ‘ up there with the power valves imo 👍
A more technical question if you're willing to answer... I have a TS185 build I'm working on although... Kind of stuck on something interesting I have seen on your's and was wondering how you got around that. How did you bypass, The "variable displacement oil pump, Suzuki's unique force oiling system C.C.I"? Since I cannot see the T2 Oil Rezivour as you mentioned taking that out along with the airbox... 1)did you build it into the petrol tank? 2)running premix 32:1? 3)simply did the necessary removal of the flywheel side main bearing shield plate. which according to various forums have lead me to believe is necessary to prevent heat sees or damage of the crank bearing because premix doesn't penetrate certain working parts that the CCI system does. Sorry for the long-winded question but it sparked my interest. From South Africa, so when I'm not playing with Lions ;), I enjoy taking bikes apart and asking long-winded question I hope to have answers to. Local mac's are horrible with advice and 2 stroke racer build advice.
Hey Daniel, Good question. If you pause the clip on 0.09 sec you'll see a small stainless tank opposite the muffler. Thats the 2 stroke oil tank and utilised the Factory oiling system. There should also be a pic or two on the blog thats linked in the video notes.
I wish I could send you a picture of my 1975 T185 build. I love what you have done. Through out my build I couldn’t find anybody else that had really taken the bike seriously enough to do a quality build and it makes me really excited to see that you have. I am almost done with mine now it would be really fun to share it with you to compare the different styles and choices we have made. How can I send you a picture of mine? I really think you would enjoy it a lot for the same reasons I’m enjoying yours. The little tow stroke has such a good platform to start with if you have vision. Awesome work dudes! I guess I could try to attach a url but I’m not sure if that works or not? Let me know if there’s an easier way to share with you.
Your bike is amazing! I have the same bike and am having an issue where it starts sputtering around 3500 RPM. I think I've narrowed it down to an ignition issue, any recommendations on what to replace first, coils, resisters, ect?
Tom, do you think you could modify a Kawasaki 250-G Super Sherpa, (2001 model year)? It has slightly more power and weight (stock) than the TS185 but with your creativity, engineering skills and modification expertise I would not doubt you could create a unique masterpiece using the Super Sherpa.
I am curious about the “electrickery” as I own a 1973 and wanna run modern 12v lights. Is there any links or advise as to setup for a 12v swap from the 6v?
@@PurposeBuiltMoto is that a old family secret than? You don’t know what you did so you can’t tell me? Or did someone do it for you at their shop for you?
@@theworstpilots7686 Not at all. Its just not the sort of thing I can take an hour to explain over a TH-cam Comment thread. I might have put some details in the build blog linked in the video notes if you want to look there.
Can you explain how you converted the bike to 12v using the stock stator? Just a 12v reg/rect can do the trick? not very experienced in the way of electrikery as you say lol I have a TS250 im looking to convert and keep the battery charged Love the build
Hey, local Aussie, just got a ts185 project. Wher'd U get front fork springs? Def's be using yous black box and switches on my build. This thing looks mint!
Hello, i have a little question.. I have a suzuki 125 ts (1976), and I am looking to rebuild it in a "cafer racer" style.. Did you modified the original exhaust pipe to build this one?
The TF185 was the farm version and had usually had the round bar swingarm. A lot of people ride it but swapover the later model TS185 square/box swingarm and its better borks. The TF185 tank is bigger too.
That chuckle at the end as you brap it. Ahhhh

Ah man that stuff is music to my soul, the crackle of a well tuned 2 stroke

Hey! The bike looks gorgeous but I was wondering how much it cost to build?
fuck yea, hope there's more 2t buildings in the future. they're always success! cheers
Nice builds.. 👍👍👍
Holy crap I bet that pipe annoys the hell out of the cops 😂
breathestrongcycling would you have it any other way?

Happy to talk about your sherpa project, james. shoot us an email through purposebuiltmoto.com
hey mate you do realise these things use cci suzuki oil injection system that requires you to run the oil pump to lubricate the main bearing?
staunch oner yep that’s why I built an oil tank and run the oil injection
I am curious about the “electrickery” as I own a 1973 and wanna run modern 12v lights. Is there any links or advise as to setup for a 12v swap from the 6v?
This is a hard bike to do as there are no kits. You really have to know what you’re doing

KidneyThief50 bit too complicated to explain, best to do your own research and learn yourself
Does it take mixed? Where’s the oil tank?
There’s a small tank under the seat
Love the build. Got a TF125 79 model and plan to do something similar. Was it easy getting it road worthy?
Yeah it wasnt bad at all, we did have to fit some fenders to it though!
Who made the pipe and where do I get one?
It was done at pipewirk techniques, so you'll have to talk with Noel...

How much did this cost too make mate and is it legal on all Australian roads??
We made this one on a contra deal, but builds like this in our shop run about 10k or so.
And yep, the bikes been registered in QLD and NSW

Elle est vraiment magnifique !
The Exhaust was hand built, and the muffler used is an FMF Shorty for a KTM 125
@@PurposeBuiltMotook thanks! Do you have an idea what cost an exhaust like this?
Every Suzuki ts185 ive seen had a bent rear brake lever
Licence plate hey ?...
YYYYEP! mounted off the shock mount and swingarm
