Why can't some teachers explain things like this so people can understand easier. (dumb it down enough for easy understanding) There should be an mandatory test to be a math teacher on ability to explain clearly and simply.

because most math teachers are bad english teachers. and english teachers dont teach math, otherwise it would be easier.

In our school, we learned to use the MAN method (easier to recall) combined with Berry method for quickly factoring trinomials. M means multiply two numbers that equal ac or c. A means add two numbers that once multiplied equal to b. N means the numbers that you got as a result of finding the two terms that make up b. Use Berry Method to factor the trinomial given the two terms.

this way of doing it is more complicated then the way i was taught. instead of breaking down the 5 look at the 2x squared. what multiplies to give you that? 2x and x is the only combination. so put those in separate brackets with room for another number. now look back at your 2x. can you get -3 or 8 from that? yeah, you can get 8 by multiplying by 4. so put +4 in the bracket on the right. now look at x. that can be multiplied by -3 to give -3. put that in the bracket on the rleft and boom you are done. its hard to explain by typing but for me it is way easier.
