From season 1. May change your mind on the pillow fight.
Ted: All right, fellas, we got team meal in an hour. After that, it's either gonna be movie night or a pillow fight. What's it gonna be this time around?
    All: Movie night.
Ted: All right. But I tell you what, y'all say "pillow fight" one time, and we'll never watch another movie together again.

Everything in this show relates to something that happened before. The writing is amazing in that regard. The pillow fight is only one example of things that repeat from the first season. Roy talking about his grandad's death, the boat guy having dealt with a cheating partner, Higgins love for jazz, etc., etc. there is always a connection to a song a barbeque sauce. Even when Keely took Rebeca's advice and hired a friend. Of course it didn't work out because like Nate, she wanted to be the boss.

Until we see the finale, this is my favorite of the season. And the whole struck by lightning thing I realized goes back to season 2. On the double date with Keely and Roy, he tells Rebecca to never settle for fine and that she should find someone who makes her feel like she's been struck by lightning. I caught that on a quick rewatch the other day.

The talk Colin and Trent had was one of the most brilliant pieces of television I have ever seen.
And I would pay some good money to see the outtakes of all the Jamie & Roy scenes.
And maybe the last handful of episodes felt off because the characters felt off. And this episode was all about them settling into comfort again.
I think this episode just barely beat the Christmas episode as my favourite of the show.

This episode was incredible! One of the best in any season. Roy learning to bike, Ted finally becoming a real coach, the pillow fight Ted hinted at in the 1st season, Rebecca realizing she can find happiness and love, Higgins rocking out, Trent and Colins talk, Wills threesome, and Piggy Stardust...it just had everything.

This episode was such a breath of fresh air for me! There were moments in the first five episodes that I enjoyed, but none of them really resonated start to finish. This one did, though, and I hope it's a harbinger of a stellar rest of the season. A few things:
    - The Rebecca-Dutch guy thing was meant to be a romcom sort of plotline. IRL would it be the best idea for Rebecca to be doing what she did? Maybe not. But that sort of thing is exactly what would happen in a romcom, and Rebecca needed a respite to let loose, so it worked for me.
    - The pillow fight was a callback to 1x07, where Ted gives the team the choice between movie night or pillow fight and they choose movie night. So here, they did the other option. ETA: Just saw that other people mentioned this. Oops.
    - The Roy-Jamie stuff was definitely a highlight, and I hope the dynamic (Roy in particular) doesn't revert just because they're back in Richmond.
    - Just when you think Jamie's dad can't get any worse, THAT bomb is dropped. As bad as we knew he was, I can't say I ever expected to learn that he forced his 14-year-old son to lose his virginity to a prostitute (which, btw, the age of consent in the Netherlands is 16, so ... double yikes), something that traumatized Jamie so badly that not only has he blacked out the memory of the act itself, but he thinks Roy is referring to the *prostitute* being traumatized. This is not the last we've heard of Jamie's dad (or his mom!), I'd bet.

I think the reason it seems like there is more filler is because the episodes are longer. Up to the end of season two the episodes were 35 or so minutes, the last few expanded to around 50. This season they have all been in the 50 or so range. The jokes aren't packed as tight and there are more dramatic moments, so the show is flowing differently. This one though, just brilliant. (And the second I saw "triangle offense" I knew his inspiration was going to be something like total football.)
About the pillow fight: season one, Ted asks "pillow fight or movie", and they choose movie (the movie winds up being The Iron Giant). He then says something to the effect that once they choose pillow fight they won't choose movie again. They finally chose pillow fight. Little detail: I loved the two waitresses sitting and laughing while watching the pillow fight.
Overall, great episode. It was kind of like five (edited) versions of Beards Night Out (since we didn't get Beard's story this time, otherwise it would have been six) with everyone ending up at the same place.

I do love how he foils Roy but turning what should have been a “punishment” into something positive, sightseeing a place he clearly loves. And teaching Roy to ride the bike! Any parent who has taught their child to ride a bike will tell you, it is requires A LOT of patience. He is super patient and encouraging throughout. I’ve noticed this about Jamie this season - he is trying hard to motivate his teammates and encourage them. He is becoming a leader for the club.

It’s incredible how many people seem to be misinterpreting the “Did we….?” scene. Dutch Pilot (which I am calling him until we learn his name) answers no to her question knowing she meant “Did we have sex?” but says yes to himself because the question he is asking himself is “Did we fall in love?”
Also, I didn’t think it was possible to hate Jamie’s dad more than I already did, but Jamie’s story about how he lost his virginity made me want to see his dad get punched again. The fact that he can’t remember the experience says that it WAS traumatizing, no matter how flippant Jamie is about it.

Funny when Ted sniffs the Arthur Bryant BBQ sauce, when Jason doesn’t have a sense of smell. Also the God voice was Hannah, but credited as God as Herself.
Boat Man is like a Dutch version of Ted, that was what I was thinking the whole episode. Also it was very rom-com the whole Rebecca and Boat Man.
The whole episode is a love letter to Amsterdam, the birthplace of the idea of early Ted Lasso and the friendships with Brendan Hunt and Jason Sudeikis.
Struck by lightning is a callback to something Roy said to her in Season2.
Rebecca and Sam broke up. Sam has a budding romance with his head chef at the restaurant.
Roy learning to ride a bike and being taught by Jamie was so cute! Also it might be a homage to Sarah Niles (Dr Sharon) who doesn’t really know how to ride a bike even though her character does. Watch the FYC Ted Lasso to see the behind the scenes on filming her bike scenes.

Excellent work with the music overall, it isn't Amsterdam without some Hazes (singer of the song Rebecca and her beau sing together). It must have helped that the British were involved, because the American track record on depicting the Dutch is cringe as all fook. I think the point with the psychic is that Rebecca is obsessed despite not believing. She is searching for the shit she said in everything, and since it was all generic, eventually she will find it, so it is a self-fulfilling prophecy. A lot of things she said can mean a lot of things, the green matchbook, the shite in nining armor, etc. And they are using it for a lot of misdirects. The dutch guy was probably to have her feeling that spark again, and knowing what she wants for the future. I feel that this episode was about everyone getting a glimpse of what they need in life. It's just a single day/night on their holiday, but now that they know, they can pursue it in real life.
-) Rebecca needs to let loose, allow herself to fall for someone (if you pardon the pun).
-) Ted needs a purpose, an impact on the team so he sees that he is there for a reason (and not skipping on his boy's childhood for idle fancy).
-) Roy needs a strong bond that survives all the ups and downs and needs to fight for it (it's like riding a bike, y'know).
-) Jamie needs to be the happy good lad his mum always wanted him to be. (Side note: At the bridge, he is mimicing his dads movements and speech patterns right before the punch in "Man City")
-) Colin needs to get that burden of a secret off his chest and come out to the whole team.
-) The team needs a way to deal with their differences and issues in a manner that doesn't draw others down. Fight each other, but with soft weapons.
-) Higgins needs to come out of his shell and realize how amazing he can be. Find confidence in his base (or at least bass).
This episode was so warm, because everyone got what they needed. But none of it really lasted. Now they need to get what they need on a more permanent level.

When the Bulls management ridiculously broke up the team after championship #6, I followed Phil Jackson, Ron Harper etc to the Lakers, became a huge Kobe fan along with a lot of the other guys there, so I don't have anything against the Lakers. I won't lie though, I don't care about LeBron whatsoever, lol.

I think the idea is that it is heightened because it is 'away', and is trying to encapsulate that feeling of being in a new place, all the norms go out of the window, new experiences and mind altering thoughts! It reflects those moments where life seems to be in technicolor, bigger than our regular life. I also think that some of the 'weird' that you were getting is actually 'dutch' 😆they do have a different way of seeing the world, their culture is also much safer and well ordered, so the love interest guy is a bit more of a likely person to meet.

It's so fun and crazy, but I live near the windmill Roy and Jamie go to (I biked passed it every day). As well as the other locations in Amsterdam I've seen lots, of course. Because the windmill is close to the city just bike south along the river Amstel and you'll see it.

I liked this episode. Finally ended feeling hopeful again. It was less of a filler episode than the holiday and Beard ones because in this one almost all the characters had some sort of growth or realization. The only characters I can think of who didn't were Beard, Higgins and Will. The team's growth was in their bonding and feeling upbeat again.

Will had a threesome and Higgins was able to play on stage instead of in his living room. Seems like both might have realized something about themselves and their lives. It was certainly a step to a new level for both.

Ted sent Rebecca 15 texts. So someone cared.
That's Arthur Bryant bbq which is from Kansas. Also sunflowers is the state flower of Kansas.
So far Rebecca has 3 things come truish
    Sam and green book
John and "nine in shining armor"
Hot dutch guy " upside down french...safe"
There still the family, mother and lightning.
    Roy/Jamie forever
Trent/Colin = older gay man mentoring a younger gay man. Beautiful.
Rebecca telling Roy that he's an asshole for leaving Keeley.
Yes triangle offense by the Dutch is famous and they were super successful with it.
I think lots of things got resolved so now we move on to the last of the story. It's only 3 seasons so this is the end of *this* story as Jason Sudeikis has said.
    Onward.

Dude, I don’t understand how you could possibly call anything in season 3 a filler episode. That makes absolutely no sense. Beard after hours and the holiday special are filler. It’s not a bad thing, but they are. Every single episode progresses everybody’s story, with the exception of Nate, and only Nate, because he’s no longer with the team. Love these reactions, usually agree with ya, but had to point out the one bad take I heard

I think the Rebecca storyline could have worked, but I agree the falling of the bridge was dumb, and the man himself felt stale and boring, I just don’t think he was a great actor and I felt the moment between him a Rebecca (which could have been genuine if done right was forced).
The team disagreement was dumb (I get the idea was to show the team isn’t as unified as they should be but it was a bit rushed), the pillow fight was a good way to end it tho since it’s a call back to teds suggestion for the team in ep 7 of season 1, however the show kind of just rushed all of the teams scenes in this episode, and they could have led to the pillow fight better.
Liked the Collin and Trent moment,
    Like Roy and Jamie moment
I can see why this episode was important but it was a bit jarring. I felt it had similar vibes to the coach beard episode last season, however this episode was a bit better cause it was more story focused.
However I personally liked episodes 3 and 4 better than this episode.
I think episode 5 was bad and this episode was jarring but happy Ted had his realization regarding the triangles and hope we will
    See the team improve now.
Don’t love beard telling red it was a full batch. Maybe Ted had a OA Leno effect, however what I would like to belive is that Ted as someone who has never tripped before just had a lower tolerance then beard so Ted felt the full effects of a weaker batch when beard did not
