Glad you’re back! Any future videos of ls swapping into a 5 series? I just got a 550i because of you and strictly going to swap it. Would need all the help lol
I just bought a BMW 550i M Sport E60 and I would like to see a more detailed video of the parts that were mounted on that BMW to mount it on mine but with an LM7 5.3 engine
This 5 series was genuinely a hodge podge of parts and it’s why we never did a full break down. Mike now offers parts for the chassis including motor mounts and accessory drive parts so it’s very similar to a 3 series now
I have an 05 530 manual . What kinda basic swap can I do . I don’t need anything crazy I just want a different reliable swap . I love this body style .
Although you used the automatic in your 5 series, do you know if it's possible to use the TR-6060 manual 6 speed in the 5 series like you did in the 3 series? Thanks again for your help, something I've been wanting to do for years. Literally since 2008 when I purchased the car.
E60 stuff will be back in a few weeks, when Mike got sick it was the middle of the pre order and he had to refund everyone since he didn’t have the time to get everything going, once he has time they’ll be back in development. Very soon!
Only thing sexier than a BMW is a BMW with a LS motor. lol Amazing how much more power you make with removing the exhaust. That was a 5.3? I can't wait for the 1 series content. I been looking either a LQ4 or LQ9. Any thoughts on the 2?
Confirmed tach working, this car has a mpg gauge that is not functional just like a 3 series. if an oil temp cluster is available just like the 3 it should work fine.
You guys mentioned that this car has a radium surge tank with two hellcat pumps using a 6an feed. I thought about this for about a day & it made me curious, would this not create more heat and be hard on the pumps? I am not at all arguing, I guess I was just wondering how it wouldn't get the pumps hot going through such a small feed with so much volume. I understand if you guys don't have time to answer this comment.. lol
The 5 series uses two 450's, not the Hellcat 525's, and strictly due to the way the fuel system is setup, there may be some heating of the fuel, but its post regulator, and by the time it dumps back to the big factory tank, and is then fed back to the surge tank with zero head pressure, the heat is gone. On a setup like this the optimum way if you were worried about heat, would be to run a hobbs and trigger it off 5 psi or so. However a lot of ppl run double pumps all the time with zero issues. In terms of the pumps themselves, they're submerged in a tank thats continuously filled with cold fuel, heat shouldnt be an issue regardless of how they are wired to run.
@@lse90garage hobb or use an output of that Holley! lol I wasn't concerned about heating fuel, I was wondering about heat in the pumps, but most of all I was just trying to learn. I appreciate you answering my question!
@@Headsup9550 100% use a holley I/O, the reason I mentioned fuel heat, is because when most ppl are concerned with heat in a fuel system, its heating the fuel, not the pumps getting hot. Hot fuel can vapor lock. Pumps are designed to run all the time, so even if they're struggling, you just lose performance in LPH.
Do you have to cut any frame out or can you just put the engine in? Where do you get the wiring kit? Or how does it work and how much is it because bmw engines are too expensive to work on. LS engine way more reliable
Man please let us know if you have the mount kits available . 5 series has been sitting for three years in the garage . I’m a one man operation I can’t put them together myself . Please take my money sir✍️😵💫
Mike is currently working through a back log of E90 kits caused by supply chain issues, and he plans to start fabricating the E60 kits after that. Currently we have several sets out to customers and so far everything fits nicely and no clearance issues. Right now it’s simply a back log of work.
Mike built the jig for them this weekend, he just has to figure out his laser cut parts needed and they will be available. Right now it will only be the motor mounts and trans mount. Accessory drive is different from the E90
Unfortunately 5 series swaps are probably not something we’ll ever do for customers, this was a one time thing for a friend, and due to the interest Mike will be offering the mounts along side his 1 and 3 series stuff.
Hey. I am from India I was also planning to engine swap bmw 550d with Honda Civic engine or with Toyota engine, what are the things needs to be replaced? And what thing I need to have in mind while doing the swap.
Seeing as this channel mainly deals with LS swaps we can’t really tell you what’s involved with swapping in a completely different engine that we don’t cover. Good luck with the build.
@@jamesstephens8188 yes it is. David’s 525 is running Mikes CAN box and has a fully functioning dash, and there are plans to make a/c fit with his turbo kit in the future.

Mike still needs to remove the mounts one at a time and create a jig for them. Very soon though, it’s at the top of his to do list.
