  • Hello All! This week I made 2 (well technically 3) mixed media tags using Dina Wakley paints and stencils and a really awesome Tim Holtz technique for the focal points. I made a beautiful background but just couldn't seem to pull it together with the focal point I had made so I wind up shifting gears midway through and wind up with 2 tags that came out beautifully. If you'd like to see the original Tim Holtz technique ( I modified it a bit with some newer products he has since released) the link is below. As always I love hearing from you and check out my Instagram to see what I made with the unused focal point and the mop up tag from the video. Stay healthy!

Once you relaxed and just went for it they turned out great. I understand the over thinking, it is the death of creativity. The bee is my favorite of course.

Thank you! And yes, the Bee is one of mine too, I want to get the smaller version of it as well.

Love these tags! I get overly committed, too. It’s a struggle.

Really enjoyed your vid. I finally got some Dina Wakley and Tim Holtz stuff and just have to get over the hoarding phase.

that hoarding phase is real. It's part of the reason I don't get any of the DW collage books. I know I'd never use them lol

Love the video. These tags both turned out delicious. I actually laughed & found myself nodding in agreement about over attachment to my background. I'm like a dog with a bone, I can't let it go! It's even more frustrating when I have focal points that I really want to use, for example, to represent a challenge as in Dina's gratitude. The new one being community. I don't want to go with the obvious people stamps, but my idea won't work!! As for the products affair, yes, I hear you. I have Dylusions sprays so keep telling myself I do NOT need Dina's gloss sprays. But each time I see people create with them, I crave them 🙄 Stay safe. 😊❤

Can I ask what do you do with these tags? I really like them. I'd use them as framed art on a table or on a wall, like several together.

You can ask whatever you want! I mostly use them in replace of cards, which I don't really enjoy making. So I'll make a tag and send it. They also get used as bookmarks a lot (the back is big enough I can take notes) sometimes i stick them in art journal pages, or use them as actual gift tags on presents. The sky is the limit!
