Can you relate to any of these moments?
If you want another great moment as a guitar player then you should register for my guitar summer camp with Paul Reed Smith: bit.ly/PRSMDTyler
We're taking suggestions for which model PRS Guitars to give away during the event, too... let me know ;) BTW, YES-you can access the event recording indefinitely with your ticket even if you're not available for the live-stream at any point :)

I just received my first secondhand guitar less than 24 hours ago. No cable or anything yet so I just plink-plink-plinked across the _5_ strings it currently has. It was a conscious thought that it's going to take LOTS of practice for it to finally sound like something. For now, that practice is about not numbing (silencing) the other strings while trying to target any other single string next to them. lol!

    My top 5 guitar moments:
    1. Buying your first guitar, bought by you not you parents.
    2. A guitar pick given by your guitar teacher that he used to teach you that day.
    3. Your first complete song in open chords.
    4. Your first intro, riff or solo that actually sounds good.

man.... I had such a great moment in my life one year ago. My wife was pregnant, only few days for the baby to pop out and we had a gig. Well, our lead singer couldn't come for a good reason, he had a honeymoon, but we decided not to cancel the show. I would be singing. I'm not a greatest singer out there but better than mediocre. Just few weeks to practise and I knew I had to have a new guitar for the show. It was only a Ibanez gio series but c'mon, red and black and shiny new. I didn't dare to tell my wife about it and the package arrived couple days before the show. I was able to transport it to my music room without her knowing nothing about it. Which of course was a good thing because the plan was to have the baby after the show right. We rocked the heck out at the venue, with 20 people watching and I didn't blow my cover up :D The story didn't go so well after 6 months when I acquired a helix and a tight esp metal shredder with active emg's simultaneously... :-)

Met Steve Vai in 2014. I was working at a hotel and he stayed with us during his visit. I was in gueat/artist relations. Spent an incredible day and a half with Mr Vai. I even got a chance to play EVO in his hotel room alone while he taught me some stuff.
That, is an experience I will forever cherish. How often do you get one in one time with your guitar hero?

My first guitar was given to me by my father in law. Its an old Yamaha acoustic with a really nice sound and bringing it home was an amazing moment. I wanted to play something electric so I bought a used Godin Session Custom. Bringing it home was an awesome moment but an even better one was when I realized how much I love playing it.
Still waiting for those phone calls though... :)

funny story (or not): I was learning to tap on guitar 2 mins before watching this vid and had my guitar plugged in... I saw that Tyler uploaded a video and clicked it right away as any sensible person would do... (love ur vids Tyler btw) and i reached the part of the vid when he was learning to tap... I forgot to pause the vid and went to drink water... I came back and thought my guitar was playing itself....
    I almost fainted.
