I was gonna leave the comment about the same thing, but now I can just say ‘I second that’ instead. Still goong ahead with the transfer, but very good that TGG is quick to get the news out there. Personally I’ve been waiting for E&E (although I guess it’s no longer called that) since it was first announced, so if I don’t transfer it, it’s gonna stay on my mind anyway. Most people will probably migrate their characters eventually

I'm so glad Rockstar explains this so well on that alert screen there in the game. I'm also glad I'm on PC, and I feel bad for anyone who doesn't see this video and doesn't realize they just said goodbye to their friends on the previous gen consoles after transferring.
@NorsemanPatriot It varies for each console and for PC what you need to do, but you can search for "how to get into a solo public lobby GTA" to find what you need for your machine.
Just an update you are now able to transfer your characters to new gen wirhout losing your character on current gen. They will now progress separately so any orogression u make with ur old gen character it wont transfer to ur next gen amd vise versa
My problem is that I I usually play on the ps4 but I played the Xbox series x version on Xbox cloud. Now that that I have my ps5 I can’t merge… what the hell is this
It’s so stupid we can’t transfer our console save that was transferred to pc to one of the new consoles, the pc transfer separates it anyway so it’s not like any modded accounts would enter next gen
Having the new version I played last night for hours, I can see why it's not cross gen.. new game looks awesome. And they added new exclusive vehicles that don't exist in the older gen

Yeah… I transferred from one to series x after my one nearly had a total bricking of itself. Managed to fix it, but what set me over was the fact that One version had to rerender everything from time to time. What didn’t help was that many people moved from One to Series. I held out for as long as possible, but in the end… the One couldn’t keep up with Online anymore and I couldn’t find anyone to perform the heists with on one anymore, meaning all achievements that require groups could not be obtained because of bad rendering, monsterous load times, and aging servers for last Gen, resulting in ridiculous load times going between sessions. And let’s not forget the fact that the time it takes for new areas to load when performing heists, and all of the above happened with One version, when played on series X as well. The One console is now retired and living life as a DVD player.
Im totally fine with it deleting it on last-gen, but what isn't fine and makes me no longer want to do this anymore is the lack of crossplay. What the hell are you thinking rockstar? This is going to seriously tank your reputation even more. Every single time that I think that rockstar couldn't be even more pathetic, they do something even worse.

@@ZayBands23 you're completely missing the fact the games are different. As you can already see, the next gen version has additional features, the new car shop. How do you expect them to track progress on two different games for the same character? This is no different than migrating from Xbox 360 or PS3. The old systems are left behind and for good reason, they can no longer keep up.
@@dickfantastic7908 I highly doubt that these additional features could not be implemented. The Xbone or Ps4 could have sustained such an overhaul. This is just classic cash grabbing by Rockstar taking advantage of the fact that GTAV has lasted this long due to the amount of money still being poured into this game. They know what there fans are like and they’ve made it this way. Now with the recent release of the newer gen consoles, they know it will just net them more money to transfer over and lock future updates to newer gen like you said with 360/PS3. That autoshop was already in previously. They just added ‘Additional Features’.
Multi billion dollar company but yet they have to delete old characters when they get transferred. PS3-PS4 didn't have this. Lack of crossplay is understandable and expected, but this? They didn't even need to do cross-save...
I've never been happier about having no friends! The only thing I was worried about was a few money glitches I did years ago, because I heard somewhere that if any of your money is illegitimate you might not be able to move your existing character over. If TGG was able to do it, I'm sure I'll be fine! Looking forward to midnight tonight...only 13 hours left!
I just got my PS4 account back, after I migrated to PS5. I looked everywhere on how to do it and couldn’t find anything so I contacted Rockstar Support directly by email complaining that it wasn’t advertised clearly and they reverted the migration for me. Please share for others to see, hope this helps!

Ok so i was trying to figure out if your second character on the same account can transfer over with you. I couldnt find info on that anywhere. Thank you for showing this dude, now i can safely transfer both of my characters to next gen with minimal worries.

@@bpai1989 Yes, as you are still playing the PS4 version in backwards compatibility mode. I have added a friend playing GTAO with me on PS4 and him on PS5.
R* fixed this problem during an update last year. You can now migrate from previous gen to current gen without losing your character(s)/progress on previous gen. However, additional progress will not be shared between previous and current gen. This means when you earn money, buy stuff, or change your character's appearance on current gen it will not be applied to the previous gen account. Changes made to the previous gen account will not be applied to the current gen account. You'll have to decide which account will be primary and direct progress there or you could try to keep them both updated. Maybe R* will fix this sometime in the future so that changes to one account will carry over to the other.
Just asking but I have 2 characters on my ps4 and I plan on getting a ps5 in a few weeks (one of the characters are rank 130 and another is about rank 20) if I switch my rank 20 character does it mean I can't play with friends that have a ps4?
Honestly, when I get a PS5, that'll be the console for GTA 6. I'm not planning on getting GTA 5 for PS5 at all, unless the servers for GTA 5 PS4 will shut down
Unfortunately in the short coming years, I'm talking 1 to 2 years, if we're lucky possibly more, they're planning on discontinuing GTA 5 online on old gen consoles, ps4, xbox 1 etc Just like they did to ps3
the previous transfer left your old character on past gen making it a copy, now transfer literally means transfer this time. imagine if there was a bug or error while doing this and you lose everything

Well, I was really hyped for this when the first trailer came out because I thought that there were going to be game changing upgrades, then my hype was cut by half when they released the second trailer which ahowed 0 improvements, and now there's no hype at all because I'm literally not even going to download it

That weird I still have my character on old gen and new gen but any progress I make on new gen doesn’t show on next gen same with old gen so it’s like I have 2 different version’s of my character
The real question is: Can I migrate my PS4 character over to ps5 at anytime when I’m ready (when all my friends transfer) or is this decision final to where I can’t migrate at another time.
Yeah sadly I was too late, I didn’t see any warnings and rockstar didn’t state it anywhere so I now can’t play with any of my friends as they are all on old-gen. They should have been more clear smh 🙁
I left my friends behind. I had no idea that it has no cross-gen playability. And I had all the things to host heists, like rhe arcade, sub, facility, etc. Now none of us have the tools to do anything, aside from not being able to play together for a while.
So interesting theory I have: gta online might slowly transform into a game like elder scrolls online and would probably release maps for each new respective titles (like gta 6 map whatever that could be) and we might be allowed to take certain vehicles over to those new maps. A total shot in the dark I know but it’s not all that far fetched if you think about it
It’s probably what is already happening. It’s not called gta 5 anymore is gta online. They may release gta 6 story with the map expansion with Los Santos.

You can still play with your old gen friends, you just have to create a new character on old gen and level it up. I don’t mind doing it because I had two characters on both Xbox and PlayStation, so leveling up isn’t a big deal to me. Plus, I’ll have plenty of friends on old gen to help me level up again.
All I thought was gonna happen was our character were going to be copied to this new system...leave it to Rockstar to not add that tiny bit of detail. 🤣😂🤣

I think you are transfering progress in the account you're logged in, so yeah, both characters will be transfered you can check this at 0:13 in the video. It's written migrate profile.
One of our associated crews are hard core greifers their 3+ kd is honestly earned and they know every glitch they'll be on the new version as soon as its possible so don't count yourself too lucky they'll be testing out every glitch from thermal to god mode.
GTA V e&e gives only to XBox X & PS5. Xbox S don’t get all video enhancements since video card don’t support 4K 60 FPS. ALSO do frozen money glitch before you transfer it to upgrade to GTA V e&e and it’ll stay frozen forever ♾. All glitch’s have been fixed ppl working for ways around it also goto display setting and change to performance or performance fs

I was able to migrate my p4 gta account to the p5 version. But when I go back to my p4 version, I still have my account & everything on it. But bc I have the same gta account for the 4 & 5 version, it just tracks different progress. Say I bought a car on the 4 version, it wouldn’t be on my 5 version. But I was able to keep my stats, money, cars, properties, etc, on the 4 version, as well as having all of that on the 5 version as well.

Well, this is the new gen consoles, you can't expect Rockstar to be perfect and develop a crossplay from last gen consoles on a fly.
Even if they did a crossplay to ps4 and ps5 the ps4 cant handle gta anymore it's buggy as hell with the casino update

There’s no such thing as expanded. That’s why they changed the name to “next gen.”

@@bpai1989 Yes, as you are still playing the PS4 version in backwards compatibility mode. I have added a friend playing GTAO with me on PS4 and him on PS5.
R* fixed this problem during an update last year. You can now migrate from previous gen to current gen without losing your character(s)/progress on previous gen. However, additional progress will not be shared between previous and current gen. This means when you earn money, buy stuff, or change your character's appearance on current gen it will not be applied to the previous gen account. Changes made to the previous gen account will not be applied to the current gen account. You'll have to decide which account will be primary and direct progress there or you could try to keep them both updated. Maybe R* will fix this sometime in the future so that changes to one account will carry over to the other.

Honestly, when I get a PS5, that'll be the console for GTA 6. I'm not planning on getting GTA 5 for PS5 at all, unless the servers for GTA 5 PS4 will shut down

the previous transfer left your old character on past gen making it a copy, now transfer literally means transfer this time. imagine if there was a bug or error while doing this and you lose everything

Well, I was really hyped for this when the first trailer came out because I thought that there were going to be game changing upgrades, then my hype was cut by half when they released the second trailer which ahowed 0 improvements, and now there's no hype at all because I'm literally not even going to download it
It’s just 4K & 60 frames with better graphics like PC. Everything else the same. No expansion. Might as well just buy a PC so I don’t have to pay $10 a month to play it.

I left my friends behind. I had no idea that it has no cross-gen playability. And I had all the things to host heists, like rhe arcade, sub, facility, etc. Now none of us have the tools to do anything, aside from not being able to play together for a while.

So interesting theory I have: gta online might slowly transform into a game like elder scrolls online and would probably release maps for each new respective titles (like gta 6 map whatever that could be) and we might be allowed to take certain vehicles over to those new maps. You can still play with your old gen friends, you just have to create a new character on old gen and level it up. I don’t mind doing it because I had two characters on both Xbox and PlayStation, so leveling up isn’t a big deal to me. Plus, I’ll have plenty of friends on old gen to help me level up again.
So say you go back to PS4 after migrating your account to PS five will your PS five progress be lost?

@@DamoVII PS5 players can't cross play with PS4 players and vice versa newer XBOX consoles with old generation XBOX console, what if my friends still play on older console and I wanted to play my old console with them..then that now means I can't because my character is now gone.

One of our associated crews are hard core greifers their 3+ kd is honestly earned and they know every glitch they'll be on the new version as soon as its possible so don't count yourself too lucky they'll be testing out every glitch from thermal to god mode.

GTA V e&e gives only to XBox X & PS5. Xbox S don’t get all video enhancements since video card don’t support 4K 60 FPS. ALSO do frozen money glitch before you transfer it to upgrade to GTA V e&e and it’ll stay frozen forever ♾. All glitch’s have been fixed ppl working for ways around it also goto display setting and change to performance or performance fs

I was able to migrate my p4 gta account to the p5 version. But when I go back to my p4 version, I still have my account & everything on it. But bc I have the same gta account for the 4 & 5 version, it just tracks different progress. Say I bought a car on the 4 version, it wouldn’t be on my 5 version. But I was able to keep my stats, money, cars, properties, etc, on the 4 version, as well as having all of that on the 5 version as well.
Same issue I have now it’s not matching it’s like where I left off in 4 is the same. all new stuff in five doesn’t come back with me.
