When they first revealed the White Ranger figure, they had a small video of how it was made and in one scene you can clearly see they were using low res screencaps from Rangerwiki. The sculptors probably make due with whatever they have while Hasbro doesn't seem to have an archive of actual references on hand.
I don’t really mind the line going on a break, since this actually gives me a chance to save up enough money for when the line eventually returns either under the same name or a rebrand.

I'm honestly shocked that they never recalled Izzy (DF Green) because so many had the issue of the breaking head and as far as I know, it's basically unfixable.
I got my first lightning figure (Dino Charge Red) when wave 1 was hitting shelves, but I didn’t start full on collect the line until 2020. I owe a lot to this line. It got me interested in the entire power rangers franchise. Before that, it was just Dino Charge for me, and I’m so glad that I got into this franchise. This figure line has some high highs and low lows, but I was willing to stick through it. I really enjoyed collecting this line, so it’s sad to see that it’s “gone,” or taking a break. I hope it comes back, but if not… it was fun while it lasted. Thanks for keeping us up to date with the line through Lightning Storm. I tuned in every Saturday. Great video documentary, too.
It's crazy to see all the footage of the reveals of this line. A great documentary of the evolution of this line that we all have come to love and kind of hate. The team evolution is crazy as well. Amazing video Josh !
I truly think this hiatus is due to the factory they switched to in Vietnam. I bet they’re switching factories, but then again it’s Hasbro and nothing they do makes sense so… they also did a 5 year hiatus with GI Joe before announcing the classifieds line. It just doesn’t make sense to bog the line down with so many unfinished teams. Either way it’s a boneheaded move on hasbros part. It’s clear Hasbro doesn’t quite know what to do with the brand.
I feel like they had a basic plan - run through the three-year Nick contract that had already been made (2019-2021), then make their own all-original series and give the franchise a huge push - but developmental woes (and probably the pandemic) have severely messed up that plan. And now here they are with nothing to put out there show-wise until their relaunch is finally done. The factory-switching explanation could make a lot of sense, and timing it with this hiatus in the media side of the brand would just be a convenient aspect for them.
I'm sitting here thinking to myself that, there's so much more that Hasbro can do with this line, and it's a shame that we might not get a chance to finish the teams that are still left to be finished. I know I'm about 10 months late, but I didn't get a chance to watch the video when you first posted it. I told myself that I'm content with the teams that I have. Most are complete except for the ones that are still missing Rangers, but worst case scenario the line doesn't come back I have a pretty nice size collection of lightning figures well over a 100 I'm sure. I would not be surprised if Hasbro Executives have been having meetings on what direction to take the lightning collection and Power Rangers as a whole, I really hope they bring it back better than ever.
And I finally get around to watching this (in the early hours of the 30th anniversary day in the UK, at least). Beautifully-made, Josh! It was great to get to relive the past five years for the line, to remember past reveals and to see you somehow looking so baby-faced in the first Lightning Storm when it was only three years ago, haha! Of course, it's also frustrating to see all those missteps and issues once more. Hopefully, if and when the line returns, lessons will be learnt and things will run more smoothly... but I won't hold my breath. At least your coverage of the line can always be relied upon. Thank you for everything you've done with the Lightning Collection line over the past years!

Yet I personnaly think the edition doesn't go harsh enough, there much more problems not covered like in regards to figures consistency (SPD team and the white/silver lines, Zeo and the golden wrists, Lost Galaxy acessories...), the looseness of the pinless bodies, the monster line scale not matching the Rangers and the regular released monsters, the Remastered Green-Red Dragon Shield debate, ZAP plastic quality complains (mostly on Megazord and Dragonzord)... (there could also had been the addition to some fans posts/videos trying to advocate the line while suggesting other fans solutions like hair dryer before changing heads, or painting the figure themselves - this would illustrate well the fandom reactions during the time, while others were dropping the boat, others were afraid and trying to keep them in, almost desperately. Because we all knew this line could end if things didn't get better) And also distribution (including overseas). For example, Brazil was talked in the video because of Mega Power Brasil coverage, but distribution here was really inconsistent, just a couple Waves were very easy to find, and some were near to non existant, and we only got the 1st ZAP release, ironically they announced ZAP Tigerzord here. The line had a great start, but the missteps keep coming one after other... Nevertheless, the video is still great, and I'm sure it took a lot of work to put together.

These marketing people going all out about how these are the most realistically-detailed figures ever and I can see fuckin' Saba RIGHT THERE with his side symbols completely unpainted.
I'm pretty sure that was a prototype (it was several months before the figure actually released), and the final figure did have the paint on Saba. That is very funny in hindsight, though, with how many of the LC figures did lack details. Feels like a bad omen or something.
Before the hiatus I just need the green ranger helmet, saba & White Tigerzord. As far as the figures I want the rest of the turbo, lightspeed, time force and I want a darkconda monster figure
Really hoping we get some final product reveals on or around the anniversary, as the mood seems very dim atm, they should go out on an explosive high, not a whimper.
In retrospect, a problem the brand had was that its ambassadors came off as condescending and unprofessional as opposed to the goofy approach I think they were trying to achieve. I think they would have done better with more of a polished Nintendo Direct approach--20-30 minute well-edited videos where Power Rangers got a segment with their other brands.

I'm not that into Power Rangers but I like Dino Fury (first show I've watched) and have the Lightning Collection Dino Fury Blue Ranger and I know they've done Red and Green but I wonder how long it'll be before they put out the Black and Pink Dino Fury Rangers in the Lightning Collection.
Hopefully the hiatus won't last too long and they can continue the incomplete teams, including Black and Pink DF Rangers (as well as Gold). You will have to wait a little while - a year at least - but that gives you plenty of time to try and get Red and Green!
Well editied, but some constructive criticism. This video does not feel like you did it. Its a clip show.. I feel like it should have had you do an introduction, explain what a lightning collection figure was, why it was a big deal. How they changed over the years. Like... This didn't feel like a documentary, it felt like a youtube clip show... Sorry man.
Some of the decisions highlighted in this video remain baffling. The Pink Ranger cel shaded figure, certain paint apps being skipped when they're part of the most iconic imagery of the suit, the cringy embarassing attempts to connect with fans. Ultimately i think they did a good job trying to please as many people as possible and balancing between deep cuts and high demand choices. Its just sad that the line goes on hiatus right as theyre about to begin 3 new teams, plus that leaked Samurai figure never saw the light of day.
It's super-frustrating to have the line pause after they start three new teams, for sure. Especially as somebody with a lot of love for Turbo, I hate that, after all this time waiting for the team to be started, I'm now waiting an unknown span of time for them to (hopefully) continue them. As for Samurai, I think Josh deduced that Spin Sword was from a Shinkenger vinyl figure, though I could be wrong?
Yeeeeeea, I was hoping to at least get an In Space helmet or Mystic Force figures but I shouldve known better because its Hasbro. They cancelled the Overwatch figures I was collecting, and I heard they cancelled Fortnite as well. Keep in mind, WITHOUT saying anything, that's 3 times this garbage company did that. I honestly do wish Bandai still made PR figures, and even to go as far to say that I wish Saban bought back Power Rangers. Even though we got 2 years of the same season, it was still under someone familiar who had long experience on the franchise. Whoever wrote for In Space - Wild Force, RPM, hire them again. Hasbro doesn't know what to do with this franchise and Netflix doesn't either. People praise Simon so much, man literally dropped one of the coolest Sentai designed team to repaint some Dino Fury suits and call it ''original'', couldn't comprehend how to write for a series with 11 rangers, thought it was controversial for us to adapt Lupinranger VS Patranger cause lul soft America, couldn't adapt other Sentai because ''reasons'', then left the franchise, took everyone with him, and now Cosmic Fury is the end for what I grew up with since MMPR? this is how it ends? bruh. If I had to go back in time, I'd say PR ended with Mystic Force because how it ended with Mystic Mother and it all came full circle. I would say RPM but it ended on a cliffhanger. At least those shows weren't cringe as it is now. Idk man, I'm just frustrated with how people just handle this franchise. What they did for In Space - Wild Force, do it again. It isn't that hard, but I guess it is with diversity hires right out of 1 week of college who write and work on this show cause they check a box. Simply put, we don't know yet. As far as I'm aware, there are releases still slated through to early next year, before the hiatus even begins.
