The safety pins are often sold as "basting pins" (referring to their use when sowing).

Super informative Derek. I have a tendency to bulk up on “what if” stuff.

It's always a balance. I don't carry 40 feet of webbing, a sam splint, a stove, or a bunch of pulleys, but the day may come where I wish I did.

And I’m the guy that does! Haha! Just not the splint.

I kept expecting him to tell me why he always has a sam splint in his bag 😂

At 0:28 you rig a descender in quite an unorthodox way, is that safe? What are the benefits of that way of putting the rope through?

It's called "C rigging" the bobbin. It's less friction than the normal "S" rig so it's useful if the rope is stiff and thick like muddy PMI pit rope.

A little roll of duct tape about 5 ft in a super small roll ,will close cuts ,won't take up any room ,if ur going to bring tape might as well work wet

Where did you source your battery pack? The aqua seal? My old VPI caving bud, Joe Zokaites, came up with the backup compass, needs a little trimming as you receive it.

Oops, see that it’s an Anker. Have most of kit gathered from things around the house. Thanks for your website and lists for kits!

Nice Video again. I have a question, could you help me picking up a new headlamp for caving? Because I can't really find good videos for "Caving" Headlamps and who could help me more then you? Nobody hahah

Dr Lyle Moss said that his backcountry first aid kit was just two items: bandaids and narcotics.

My mistake. The use wasn't mentioned. Chapped lips are a nuisance; just surprising that is included for an emergency kit.

@@stevereames1836 You can use it on anything that gets chapped.
