Don't mind their hypocrisy. We cry for the ongoing evil but when the celebrities speak up, it becomes talking down the country.
Nigeria still has a long way to go is an understatement. Today the economy is shattered with daily rise in price of goods and services. David Adeleke as a Nigerian spoke about this, but Nigerians came for his head... Hypocrites everywhere!

The fact remains that, if she is in Nigeria, the heavily corrupt politicians will never give her the opportunity to excel to the position she is currently occupying in England. Before she attained that position, no Nigerian politician knew anything about her. Nigeria's politicians must be told that, Kemi is representing a political party in England and not in Nigeria. They should leave her alone to focus on her new responsibilities for the people of England.

Kemi Badenoch is actually well within her rights to describe Nigeria for what it is. Pride for our country does not mean blindness to a point where we cannot criticize the madness in the country. On the contrary, having a passion for and true pride for our country should in fact, be a driving force to call out things in the country as they are. A country rich in oil wealth yet, poor to the letter. A country where election results are written behind closed doors. A country of over 200 million but cannot conduct any credible elections, while Ghana of just over 30 million does it every four years without question or doubt. A country where insecurity walks bold and brave in the streets, leaving the poor masses at the mercy of imminent danger, while the political elites hide behind the veil of armed police and military that should be protecting the masses. A country where the rich and might insert themselves into office and oppress the rest of the population both politically and economically. A country where the likes of Farotimi are thrown into jail for speaking out against corruption. A country that has completely abandoned its teeming youth and condemned them to abject penury. A country that spends billion on election machinery and equipment they knew full well would not be used in the election. A country where basic schools no longer work, leaving our children and their parents consigned to outrageously exorbitant fees. If you cannot even educate your little children, despite your oil wealth and your politicians and ex office holders own billions and trillions stashed in foreign accounts, what is there for Badenoch to be proud of about Nigeria? A country that can barely fund its budget but spends billions on presidential planes and renovation of official residences for political office holders. Common electricity, we cannot provide fairly consistently, yet, we cry foul play when the likes of Badenoch call us out for what we are...for who we are! Please, if there are people to be blamed and cast aspersion at, let them be our corrupt leaders, both past and present and not Kemi Badenoch. The only way to answer Badenoch back is by facing up to the mostly self-inflicted wounds that we bear and get to work fixing our country massively. Fix our electoral system and you'd see our leaders wake to reality because they would no longer be able to manipulate themselves back into office, no matter how terribly they perform. Look at the issue of land revocation in Abuja? Who would investigate it? Do we have any functional institutions that can stand up the high and mighty in Nigeria? Pride should not be mistaken for blindness. I think any prideful and right thinking Nigerian should be as disgusted about the country as Kemi Badenoch is!!!

What many fail to realize is that Kemi is publicly calling out Nigerian leaders, not the country itself. Everyday Nigerians on the streets understand the point Kemi is making. Arise must use its platform to speak the truth and stand with the common people, not with corrupt officials.
While poverty exists in India, their leaders still make efforts to care for their people. In contrast, Nigeria operates like a jungle where self-interest prevails over collective welfare. The real issue lies with the leaders, the media, the elders, the churches, and the deeply ingrained corruption in society as a whole.
It is rare to find a Nigerian overseas who is wholeheartedly proud to be fully associated with Nigeria, except for those who benefit from the corrupt practices. Nigeria MUST change and that change will only come when Nigerians both at home and abroad are free to express their opinions regarding corrupt leaders and practices in the country.

Those that really belittle Nigeria are those that selected Mr. Okpebholor as the governor of Edo state.
Those politicians who own houses and bank accounts abroad. I have not heard or seen any politician of any civilized country doing the same in Nigeria.
Those who enjoyed public education in Nigeria, but today, can't offer the same opportunities to Nigeria children are those that denigrating Nigeria.

Kemi told her truth about her Nigerian experience. Would you rather she lied about her experience. There are crimes in the UK, but the police are proactive in preventing and arresting criminals. To correct Rufai, not everyone in the UK lives on welfare. The welfare safety net is there to catch the tie vulnerable in society. One thing you can not say about Nigeria. Rishi was able to easily associate himself with his motherland India because India, as we all know, is a thriving democracy and more advanced economy, unlike Nigeria. We can't blame Kemi for our woes in Nigeria. We have our politicians and religious leaders to thank for that. Nigeria must own its wahala.

Rufai is a critical thinker. The story the woman painted does not portray her history in Nigeria. She wasn’t talking about the present, she made reference to when she was growing up and that her depiction was a lie. When it suits her, she will extol Nigeria to leverage her political career, when it doesn’t she will bring down the same Nigeria to leverage herself. She isn’t fighting for anyone, she is a politician who would use whatever is within her means to achieve her goal. And that’s just the simple truth about Kemi

Some of the panelists stand the risk of being seen as displaying eloquence in stupidity. Kemi was simply saying our leaders are corrupt, and their actions are impoverishing Nigerians. Thank you for your surmise, Dr. Abati. You made a great point. Some of our leaders need to rethink their actions and work towards changing the negative public perceptions. Rufai erred for calling Kemi a hypocrite. Comparing living conditions is taking Kemi out of context. And, what Oshiomole spewed is exactly what Nigerians, especially those abroad, are talking about. Governance is a joke to them. If any politician says that in the west, he would be asked to resign the next day. Thank you Dr. Abati - yes, Oshiomole has turned himself to an overlord. Our democracy is a joke. You see people looting the treasury to LORD over the masses. May God help us, Amen.
