There's so much to enjoy & admire in this video, in fact, too many to choose a single favorite. Loved the nativity at 11:27; the decorated vintage car; the home resembling a gingerbread house at 18:30 and farm animal display around 17:27. As for simple, tasteful, house facades, I liked 22:52 and 29:53. The "angel avenue" was a neat idea, and also early in the video I saw a gumdrop-lined sidewalk, which I had never seen before in my 56 years. Of course, it also must be said that the basics always warm the soul, including reindeer grazing, snowmen, Peanuts, the Grinch, and a good old-fashioned candy cane lane sidewalk. Those never get tiring!!!
Wonderful! South St. Louis indeed carries on the tradition of St. Louis celebration of Christmas. When I was little many eons ago, we always went to downtown St. Louis to look at the department store windows, which were moving renditions of everything from Santa's workshop to family Christmas dinner. Life was centered around these old departments stores, Stix, Baer & Fuller, Scruggs, Vandervorts and Barney and Famous Barr, that were huge, where you had everything from dry goods to shoe repair. Today's malls do not even compare to these former giants of merchandise and service. Yes, service. You did not have to carry your packages around, they delivered them in their fleet of delivery trucks. You would come for the day and have lunch in their gourmet Tea Rooms; it was a splendid experience in a peaceful time to live. I miss those times.
I've heard so many stories about the glory days of department stores and wish that I could have been alive to experience them. Thank you for sharing your memories! -Ken
WOW! I am floored! I admired all the residents' houses that are lit up! I too am a huge " LIGHT ~ IT ~ UP" for JESUS fanatic. I light my house up every year also, unfortunately there's only 3 houses on my block whom decorate every year, ( the exact opposite) of the St.Louis Hills residents. Keep up the great displays, St.Louis Hills! YOU GUYS ROCK!
What an absolute delight! Lovely homes, fun and colorful light displays, beautiful Christmas music…just wonderful! I especially liked the soft, tasteful music. Just sheer perfection! Thank you for the living Christmas card, Ken!
So lovely house with all fantaisie décoration of Christmas. Just say "Merry Christmas Happy all your houses" And thank for your great job of all houses on your chain, even better in next year!
Let us know the timestamp of your favorite house below. 🎄
Happy Holidays!
