She was born here at the house and lived here all her life, was the daughter of John Whitehead Greaves (the founder of what is now known as the Llechwedd Slate Quarry), and aunt of Portmeirion founder, architect errant Sir Clough Williams-Ellis. Known especially for her legendary afternoon teas, guests can now stay in a bedroom named after her, and partake in the delights of Miss Hilda's Classic Edwardian Ceam Tea!
