  • Miranda Hart, the award winning star of Miranda, is joined by co-star Sarah Hadland and BBC Head of In-House Comedy Mark Freeland to give a master class on the hit sitcom. The session examined the show's origins on Radio 2, how the BBC2 commission came about (and the later effects of the switch to prime time BBC1) and the creative process at both writing and shooting stage. It also explores the future of the series, and what its success might tell us all about British comedy today.

I watched Miranda on Bear Grills not long ago and I remember her saying she wished she could be more fearless, and it struck me because, actually, writing and starring in a comedy sitcom and to play the type of character that Miranda is, especially being a woman, is one of the most fearless things in the world. I admire her deeply.

The difference between sitcom Miranda and the personal one proves that she is very talented. She is real and warm and no wonder people are drawn to her.The fact that she can write and perform silly comedy while remaining humble with her success is brilliant.

Miranda is such a sophisticated and intelligent woman in real life,I think it speaks to her genius that she can write and act such an outrageous character and be so convincing in the role that we actually believe that's how she really is but it's obviously not.I don't think she gets enough credit for being a really gifted actress as well as a comedian.I'm hoping people will start to see more than just her comedic gifts with Call the Midwife.

17 minutes in I'm wondering why Sarah Hadland has been invited. She's clearly being ignored by the pre scripted interviewer. Plus Sarah was only introduced by her name and not what she does, as though what she does doesn't even rate a mention. Plus the interviewer can't even deviate and add lib from her list of written down questions.

They all appear to be wearing body mics, yet the sound is terrible, clearly recorded on the video camera, thirty feet across the room. So amateur! Like a school play.

What the Fuck is the interviewers problem???
From 9:21 to around 17:00 (maybe later as well), she is constantly on the Feminist shit. Miranda, as a classy woman, brings the conversation back down to earth each time, and she is strangely likable. This sort of thing is so prevalent on the BBC and elsewhere in English/British TV, but this presenter's agenda is made particularly obvious from 9 minutes onward, directly suggesting "positive discrimination", which the BBC head then admits he is involved in. Info: girls are hot. If theyre also funny, producers want them to perform. No reason they wouldn't. But the fact is, in the vast majority of cases, men are simply funnier than women, and that is why they go into standup comedy. And Very few of Them hit the bigtime either. Jesus Im glad I don't live in Britain.

The “breeding ground” comment was not found funny by the man here. Horrid interviewer I agree. Ruins the vibe.
