Every year on the 4th of July, Jim Lindberg throws a block party BBQ for all the family's that live on his street in Manhattan Beach. Jim has a few buddies come by with acoustic instruments and jam for the kids. Couldn't meet a nicer guy, ill be a fan for life.
I had the privilege of meeting him after a show in Atlanta and saw him duck out after the Bro Hymn. I went to the bus and one of the crew told him I wanted to meet him for a picture and to get him to sign Punk Rock Dad. Very genuine guy and I thought it was cool that he took time from a phone call with his wife to visit with me. Great guy!
My life wouldn't have been the same if I hadn't come across Jim Lindberg and Pennwise as a 16-year-old in 1991. This is good. I root for Jim and wish him all the best.
I met Pennywise in 1999 in Colorado Springs. I hung out backstage, had beers and Pizza and spent the time before the show talking to Jim. Right before it was time for him to go on he got me a beer out of the cooler and said it's time to go. I watched the show from the side of the stage then stood side by side and sang The Bro Hymn. That night proved to me that Anything is possible if I TRY. I still have the empty bottle and a PW Tattoo on my back as a reminder. PENNYWISE FOREVER
Not only is this song beautifully written from a musical and lyrical standpoint, it also has very deep spiritual undertones. This is something that I also picked up on in the lyrics in some of his Black Pacific material.
The South Bay has changed a lot over the last 10 -15 years. Jim is a South Bay relic. I love everything about this... the vid by Broza, the instrumentation, the lyrics.
I remember watching “The F Word” when he talked about why he was leaving Pennywise. I got it, especially as a father myself. I’m super stoked to see him coming back. He has greater control of his schedule and can easily balance family and work; allowing him to enjoy both again without the impact of others. Fuckin good on you Lindy.
Damn dude. This was good. Been a Pennywise fan since the beginning and old school punker from the beach. Jim and an acoustic Pennywise need to tour with an acoustic Rancid and Tim Timebomb and maybe some acoustic Mad Caddies (our homies to the north in SB). I listened to a lot of Unknown Road when life wasn't the best trying to get a path in life, fights on the beach, spending our last few bucks for concert tickets and getting life squared away going to the Middle East and having a career. I really got my ears tuned to punk after Unknown Road came out. I've seen Pennywise more times than I can count but this is just unique and really fitting for us old guys. Epitaph, I hope you're listening because this is what should be produced, not some of the other new stuff you're signing.
Not sure if you've heard Ten Foot Pole's acoustic work, but its really good. Carry's a fair bit of the original energy, more allong the lines of this rather than Joey Cape's singer/sonwrighter type stuff.
@@PinstripeJim To me the TFP sound was about manic timing changes and the prominent arrangement of all instruments. IMO that set them apart more than whoever was singing. I can overlook Dennis' voice for the superiour song construction through the Unleashed/ Insider era. Not a huge fan of some of their later albums, but their unplugged work is among the better acoustic punk projects out there.
@@bushleague3472 After Scott left and I saw them a few times with him, I stopped listening and following them and converted to Pulley. Now Jim's shizzy is what I found recently and had no idea he had an accoustic side.
@@PinstripeJim Yeah, one song has Dan Palmer from Death By Sterio ripping a sweet flamenco solo, drums are present on most songs, uses the bass to fill things out rather than stacking the guitars. Good stuff, what an acoustic punk album should sound like IMO.
Awesome to hear Jim in a different tone, still expressing some of the anger but directed differently. Still as powerful as usual. Can't wait to hear the rest of what he'll bring
I don't hear any anger? I hear examples of him giving of others issues and how to deal with it and it sounds happy not angry. Maybe there's an attitude.. but isn't he a Punkrocker!! Lol
Saw Jim perform this song at Slamdunk festival in Leeds just yesterday. It was the first time I'd heard his solo music and thought he was brilliant. Got to shake hands with this guy and get my picture taken with him. He came across as such a decent bloke. I really hope I get the chance to see him and Pennywise again
OMG… love Pennywise, but this acoustic song is just awesome! So catchy, great lyrics, and how he nods his head after every dime that is thrown into his case… very sweet! Greetings from Germany 👍🤘
been a fan of pennywise and jim for 30 years they have motivated me and made me into that i am today.....i never would have walked cross country with out all thier jams in my headphones everyday.....the hardest miles were made with his voice imspiring me to continue everyday
I wish I was sitting on that bench while this happened. You would have saw me lose my fucking mind completely. Not because of Jim or pennywise but for the simple genius of this song. Straight awesome.
I've been a Pennywise fan since 1997 when I played Top Skater (SEGA), I was only 12. I've now had a Pennywise tattoo on my wrist for almost 10 years and this makes me wear it proudly. Awesome Jim, just awesome. Been stuck in my head all day! Landed on RUOK day here in Australia, perfect.
That's because punk mentality is dead. Now it's just a sound of music... today they worry more about how they dress then being counter culture. Crass was right about punk.

Just gonna post up on that wall and not talk

Literally the best voice in punk rock music, pennywise and his solo gig is already legendary
Everything God makes is good. We have God's palms, revere it. Thank you, Jim.

This is why I wade through all the indie songs- for gems like this.
Wow absolutely incredible man! I've been listening to you since I was 12 and now I'm 35. I need the entire hardcopy album!

We need more young musicians to keep punk going. It worries me
The problem young musicians dont have enough money to work in places, and with people that actually can make good quality music...
When they do and this channel posts the music they make the comment section is plagued with gatekeepers lmao
