That's not a bad idea. I'll take that into consideration for sure. However, our video library only goes back to 2008. Team Demo races were not documented with video until then. Past year's only had a single camera for scoring purposes and most archives have vanished. Fans and teams own copies of races they video taped from the stands, but our actual archive is small.
Aaron, visit Team Demo .com, click on the TEAMS page, then the Figure-8 banner. There are documents and instructions for joining the Figure-8 division. Becoming part of a demo team requires living around the Illinois area and connecting with a current team's driver or owner for more information.
Photos are in Reckoning's 2012 gallery on TeamDemo.com. Go to the Teams page and click their banner, then 2012. There's also more video of it in the bonus section of the DVD.
No, there are certain models not allowed. Chrysler Imperials and Checker Cabs, for example are not allowed due to their weight and frame strength. All fuel injection is banned too. First 2 rounds are for "Metric" cars - 1980s and newer, while the Finals is unlimited - 70s Caddy's, Merc's, Thunderbirds, etc. Twice a year we run "flip-flop night" including this video here, where the first round is the 70s-era cars and the next two are Metric. The makes/models don't have to match within a race.
Sponsorships help to some degree. Teams also have connections at some local junkyards to buy/trade cars back and forth. Otherwise, its out-of-pocket for the car plus motor, tires, batteries, gas, etc. Basically everyone works a full-time "real job" in order to pay for their destructive hobby.
Hi, The race is scored based on laps. The first driver on a team to complete 5 laps, legally, around the 4 turning tires is declared the winner. There are no additional points for hits or how the race was won. Just laps. Thanks for watching!!
Hello. I have a request please. Could you ever put up coverage of a full match, no editing? Maybe some classic matches from older years. I'd like to see what a full match looks like. Any will do.
This is a bit more like our UK Banger Racing. To all our American DD friends check out some UK Banger Racing and DDs to see some real high speed follow ins and hard hits
