Junkanoo is a Bahamian cultural celebration, a street festival, that includes costumes, choreographed and freestyle dance,and music [horns, whistles, conch shells, cowbells and goatskin drums]. It is held downtown Nassau on Boxing Day and New Year's Day, usually beginning at 2 a.m. There are many junkanoo groups [major and minor] that compete for cash prizes and bragging rights.
Junkanoo also takes place on the major Family Islands.
It is worth a visit to the country.
