Often there was no money in the eastern leagues. John did a few of the major European tourneys but if you watch his interviews they left a sour taste. He commented a lot on UE pullers getting passes in early rounds and stacking of the ladder right to refs readjusting straps from where they should be. Combine that with there being no money in it western pullers just couldn't be asked to go to the EU events.

@@stoneeh because John was already getting old and stopped competing much by that time. If Denis started with John (same era), that would be a great, but short rivalry (because of how fast Denis got unhealthy). Young John would most likely beat him most of the time imo.

Does anyone know exactly how many super matches in a row he won before loosing to Devon in 08’? Surely he lost a few rare matches in tournaments over those 25 years that we’re all aware of but I only ask assuming we’re talking about strictly super matches

Undefeated in his own weight class for 25 years until 2008 when he lost the supermatch to Devon Larratt as during this time Devon was hitting his prime 2008-2012 and John was coming out of it.

John pulled tournaments 2+ times a month from a young teenager through his 40's he literally has thousands of matches. As a result he had more armwrestling specific muscles than pretty much everyone else for decades.
