It’s hard because you’re in shock and traumatized so even though it seems irrational now in hindsight, when you’re in that place and so scared you can somewhat understand why you could believe those lies.

My dad earned a trip to Disney world when I was a kid from his insurance company for their conference, one of the nights they closed a huge section of the park and we all went on rides, had fireworks and the food stalls gave out free treats and it was the most magical night of my life.
