A pleasurable running session. You can't beat a lengthy goods train to add a little interest!

Hi Lynden, Many thanks for your comment! Yes, I agree and if I'm honest I do prefer running freight trains.🙂👍

@@crewelocoman5b161 I do also like that most of your wagons have loads, whether it be farm machinery, coal or a sheeted load. I've recently been modeling some open wagons and adding sheets just to add a little realism and interest!

@@lyndengrant1657 Spot on! There's nothing worse than seeing open and flat wagons running on a layout 'empty'. The tarpaulin sheets are a brilliant cover solution for open wagons and such a common sight back in the day. Tubes for flat wagons. I used part of an old TV aerial on one (a bit hard to get now) but the thicker plastic 'party' straws are a good solution. Good idea to ballast them as well. It's all good stuff!

@@crewelocoman5b161 I've had a pack of the old Smiths wagon sheets for about 30 years so that's what I used! Good to recycle bits and make them into realistic loads too!

Great session, nice to see all four lines running. That 110 takes me back to a birthday around 1995ish? When I got that Hornby pack. Although I see yours has had a detailing job as usual, very nice! I think my favourite this video thought is the clan. Very much the BR standard version of the bullied light Pacific. In fact did you know the next batch were to be allocated to the southern region named after old railway owned ships? They were never built due to steel shortage but a new build is underway and will be numbered as one of the southern allocated machines next in line. Plus I really like the Stove R on the end of that train :)

What's happened to 'Night Ferry'?🤔Many thanks for your insightful observations. The DMU wasn't a bad representation from Margate circa 1980s, although I came across a comment on some model forum/blog that remarked that you can't polish a t..d which I thought was way off. It was a huge advance on the 1950s Tri-ang Metro-Cammel but obviously falls short of the current offerings we are used to now. Yes, I was aware that another batch of 'Clans' were planned after the initial ten. I believe it was the exceptional performance of the Bulleid light pacifics on the Highland line in the 1948 trials that was one of the inspirations for this unnecessary class. The 'official' excuse being 'for routes that excluded the Britannias due to axle loading and the for harder Class '5' jobs '. Yea, pull the other one! For the Southern Region?? Why? What work were they expected to do that 110 Bulleid 'light' Pacifics were already more than capable of covering?! Having said all that, I will look forward to seeing 'Hengist' completed with rectification to the boiler draughting undertaken which was never taken up in BR days when a Clan missed its turn on the Rugby Testing Station in the early/mid 1950s. By that stage it was obvious to all that steams had no future.

@@crewelocoman5b161 Good spot, I didn't realise the name had changed. Cheers.
I don't know really why the standard 6 down south. The rebuild light Pacifics were basically unofficial BR standards themselves. Like you say an odd choice, probably why they weren't given priority.

@@Night_Ferry Indeed. R.G. Jarvis was instructed to rebuild the Bulleids along BR Standard lines which included appearance as far as possible.

Always a pleasure to hear from you. D'nyer know, a few years ago we had some neighbours around and as things do the subject matter of my trains came up so I said no problem, we can view them on the big screen. I expected the husband to make a comment, but no, it was his good lady wife who remarked first, please don't take this the wrong way, but it's those coal wagons that I really like above all else, they look so real, how did you do it? I replied, no need to apologise, that tells me everything I need to know, you 'get it'.
As always, thank you for your comments and contribution.
