Hey I dont know if you'll see this comment, but THANK YOU!! Im changing out the CV axles on my wifes 2013 Mazda 3 and this is basically the same. I appreciate you taking the time to make this video. 🍻
Thanks man. Yah, everything on this car has been super easy to do. Very user friendly design. I was getting a loud clunk from the back when I went over bumps so I did the trailing arm bushings in the back. Even getting that whole trailing arm was easy. I ended up paying the local mechanic $20 a side to press the bushing for me. But that passenger side axle was a bear man. By far the most difficult thing I have done on this car. I did all engine and transmission mounts, shocks, struts, end links, lower control arms, cleaned the throttle body, spark plugs and coils. Probably more but I can't remember. But this method will surely help. Let me know how it goes
How far are these supposed to go onto the cross shaft? so the metal shield just touches the bearing? Mine seems a little wiggly when its 'seated'. Just take a 5bl sledge and tap the edge of the CV joint just past the cross shaft bearing. a few firm whacks and the CV will pop out. Passenger side was easy...try getting the driver side out! The CV axle remover you use a slide hammer on is the way to go but the C clamp they loan you at autozone doesnt fit the driver side. There is supposed to be a pry groove on one side of the CV that you can use to pry out but I didnt see it.
That's a good detail to point out. And, you're straight to the point. Ya know, the new 3 is finally available with AWD. I'm just saying, because we both seem to have older 3's. But my 3 is no match for my Suby (w/ winter tires) in the snow.
Put a piece of wood and wedge it between the transmission body and the side of the female part to get the passenger side off. Once the inside clip is free, then its easy.
hello I had a problem with my mazda 3 2006 what happened is that I had an accident and the damage arrow and I changed it and when I tried it it came out and I hit the triceta and they told me it was because the engine ran on one side, Will it be possible to cut the arrow and put a small piece of soldered so that it reaches to enter to inside, or that you recommend me?
Hey man, good vid. Only thing missing is that you suggest pulling both half shaft and the axle out as one peice but then you don't tell how you got the two parts to separate...
Inexplicable6 sorry man. I decided to make the video after I got everything back together due to the lack of info on the internet. There were tons of videos for the driver side but none for the passenger side. So I figured it would be nice to make one that way people know . I just took that bad boy off and held it upside down (extension piece down) and smacked the piece that gets attached to the engine mount with a hammer. It came off with two hits. My bad for not telling you guys. That's kind of an important part lol
Nick Koziol I replaced about a week ago and my God that thing didn't want to come out took me all night also they gave me a axle for a manual so it was to large. had to wait til the next day the replace it. but after that it was super easy to put it back together
Anyone out there knows a trick to how to get it back🤔 i know every video on TH-cam saids just press it back on or tap it with a mallet but im having major difficulty with it
We found that the wheel bearing was out and we pressed in a new one for $50 at a machine shop. Those FWD cars don't have wheel bearing grease and I am adding a grease fitting on my Nissan wheel bearing housing.

What are the specs for the dewalt impact gun

When you remove 2 nuts bolt from haft shaft dose it expose bearing or not the 1/2 shaft bearing I am talking about
Probably should’ve seen this coming but I did this and both halves of the axle came out......along with most of my transmission fluid

So how do you get the bolt behind the cvaxle the connects the engine mount the one right behind the half shaft

Replacing a 2011 Mazda 3 today, I hope to make quick work of it.
I'm doing the same thing for a 2011 Mazda 3 this weekend. How did yours go?
how did both of yours go? doing 2010 3
Very helpful. Thank you!
The shaft that connects to the transmission is called Intermediate Shaft. Some auto parts dealer did not realize that is such a thing for a Mazda 3.
I'm about to replace the one on my driver side I'm guessing it's roughly the same thanks for the video
Mike d The passenger side is sooooo much easier! All you have is the cv axle and not the extended piece that comes off with the passenger side axle
Mike d good luck!

Mike d you should look at the video titled " removing 2005 Mazda 3 drivers side cv axle" he got his out with a slide hammer. Pretty smart
Mike d cool man. Glad you got it done

Awesome info. Gonna be swapping out my Passenger axle soon. Already got my Driver side done. That was fun. Not.

Didn't mention it dumps oil everywhere
Alex Guthrie It shouldn’t spill oil everywhere. Hopefully it’s not transmission fluid. You might have pulled your seal out
