USD Aeon 80 Review - An Urban Skaters Perspective

  • In this video, I talk and stutter about the USD Aeon 80 from an urban skater's perspective. As someone who stutters, talking on camera where my stutter is out to play is definitely out of my comfort zone, and I almost wanted to bail on this video after it was edited. Thank you for bearing with me and supporting me, and I hope my perspective on this skate gives you some value.
In short, I love this skate, the unibody construction, and the frame length. The only thing I would change is having a more supportive cuff that is a bit more rigid to give me the support I'm accustomed to.
Thanks to INLINE WAREHOUSE for supporting me with this pair of skates. For 10% off, most items use coupon code "stutter" at checkout www.inlineware... .

Here is what you need to know - I stutter and skate (I know the name came out of nowhere ;) and I'm excited to make videos that show different rollerblading/inline skating perspectives. I have been doing research on what skate to buy for weeks now and I just bought these with your link today. Everyone seems to like this skate a lot and I can't wait to get mine on my feet.

Dudeee awesome awesome review and video, love how you went into every detail and aspect of the skate. Pretty much covered all bases. Makes the decision to pull the trigger on these bad boys a lot easier now

Hi Steven, thank you so much for the kind words and for your support. I had a blast on this skate, just make sure the cuff is adjusted to what your skating preferences require. Cant wait for you to enjoy it for yourself!

I feel like you did a great job and broke down your personal experience with the skate helps. Looking forward to seeing more reviews from you. Don't be self-conscious you will always have people that will support you and if they don't, then they could kick rocks or trip over them lol. Hope to meet you someday in person to thank you for your dedication and entertainment on instagram.
P.s. you are the person that got me interested in rollerblading as an adult and I want to thank you for that 😁

Thank you so much for the kind words and support, we all have our insecurities and imperfections and I'm just proud of myself for showing up for this one.
I tried to break down my personal experience, I really enjoyed skating this skate and I'm hoping we see more unibody concepts soon!

I consume TH-cam content mostly as audio. From that perspective, I had the video sped up and was just listening while doing some house tasks. I can't even say I noticed your stutter more than once or twice. I did notice how in depth and how much care you took with this video. The review was extremely helpful and I appreciate your work on this!

Thank you so much, this comment is so kind. I'm happy to inform you, that I just ordered a microphone so that the audio will get way better. Thank you so much for your support and I'm glad to hear that my Stuttering was able to inspire you to do house tasks so efficiently ;)

Love to see a fellow stutterer doing their thing with full confidence! I’ve been really looking into these states. I’ve been a skateboarder since I was little, but I really wanna to dabble in in-line skating. These seem perfect because they have the 80mm wheels so there’s speed, but I can also mess around with some curbs and ledges and learn a bit. I can’t wait!

I got these because of their hybrid nature. I am an urban skater and wanted to try my hand at a more aggressive style. They were so comfortable and responsive and was able to do just about everything I usually due, including powerstop and parallel slide without hitting the frame and and the soul plates. I will get around to doing review myself once I actually review my HC EVO Pro Customs...they I have been abusing for five months...Great videos and great skating. I hope I run into you skating in the city soon (socially, hopefully not a collision).

Keep up the good work man! Don't let anything or anyone slow you down. Your videos are awesome and I found you when I bought the skates looking for reviews. I'm 37 and I haven't skated in 20 years but I use to be pretty good in my teens. Don't think Ill go back to sliding 15 set hand rails but I love them for exercise and these things will move!

I'm a pretty cynical person and incredibly smug, but seeing your confidence to make videos like this is pretty awesome. I have a language disorder of a different sort, but I just don't have the confidence to do anything like this.

interesting observation about how lowering the cuff can actually increase stiffness. I gotta try that on my Aeon 60s just to see how it feels. I really want some Aeon 80s, but my biggest concern is that the soft boot/cuff might hold me back on longer free/urban skate runs. I have weird feet and the Aeons fit me SO well, so I'm scared to buy another free skate and have to deal with returning multiple skates to find one that fits (there are no inline skate shops within hundreds of miles of me). Also, I have the Sam Crofts, which from what I understand have a slightly thinner liner, so the beefier liner that comes with the Aeon 80 might also help provide support. I also wonder if there are liners out there that have some of their own structure to augment the stiffness of the boot...

I skate my Aeon 80s more than anything else. They're just so fun. I skate mainly park, but I could see how they would shine as an urban skate.
One thing that always surprises me is seeing the difference in H-block sizes depending on the skate size. Mine's a 10-10.5 and the H-block looks a good bit bigger than yours (and I'm sure is more forgiving on grinds).
Really interesting to hear your experience having more support with the cuff rockered down as well. I have the previous generation skate, where the cuff can't be adjusted up or down -- but I do think it's more supportive (based on my experience with the new cuff on an Aeon 60).
    Great review and skating!

Off topic bro but what kind of helmet are you wearing in the clips? And I love these skates I've rocked aggressive K2's and the old school khaki color SOLOMON's way back in the day lol so these fall right in line with my interests!

@ yeah, I just saw them in there and will probably pick up a pair. It seems that since interest has waned over the years, it is harder to stock many different skates. Hoping we can reignite the next generation on them.

The skates You're presenting are obviously modded, some plastic has been "dremeled" out due to the narrow toe box. I know, cause I did the same with my Aeons. Unfortunately this didn't completely solve the issue. Can You say a little bit more on Your modifications? Thx!
