  • Decided there's no time like the present to change the center diff fluid in the Kraton! I've already been through the front and rear, so it was time to put some fresh 100k in the center.

    Get ya some crc contact clean or the nitro force they usually have at hobby shop. But just spray and once or so in a bottle and throw at the pieces from inside the diff in the bottle and shake. And the spray can with wash out 4he case very well too. That get the metal fillings out. It help make it so much easier to clean thoroughly. Sor5 it's killing me watching you not completely clean it lol. Jk

    What limited slip diff did you use? Is there one made specifically for the exb?

    • @WeissRC

      I used the front LSD that the EXB receives from the factory. The gears and out drives are beefed up in the EXB, so yes they are different than the v4/v5 Kraton. 👍

    I do love my EXB.....when it’s running!
    I’ve never had a vehicle that needed so much diff maintenance....and I’ve rc raced 20+ years.
    I’ve been down 4 of 7 months since Aug 2020..waiting on parts......5 warranty diffs so far.....Front, center and rear!

      I hear ya man!! I was on the rebuild treadmill for the rear diff for quite some time. I tried 3 different shimming methods and they all failed!! I had one method last longer than the others (maybe 10 packs), but it failed eventually. Now that I put the LSD In the rear it's been good. 👌 However, they're also notorious for shipping them with low diff fluid in all of the diffs! I immediately tore down my diffs and swapped fluids/topped them off. Anyway, definitely hear you on the diff complaints!!

    The Kraton EXB had so much potential. But Arrma went cheap with the quality control.

      Indeed... Sucks, but that happens sometimes!

      Yeah, unfortunately this was before I paid careful attention to camera angles and lighting. You're absolutely right. I should redo this sometime soon, properly. 👍

    What diff oil should you use for front centre and rear?

    • @WeissRC
      @WeissRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For me I'm at 50k front, 100k center, and 20k rear. Obviously there are many combinations, but that one works for me (and I know quite a few others running it as well). 👍👍

    • @WeissRC
      @WeissRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Or are you asking about brand?

    • @greendemon70
      @greendemon70 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WeissRC Thanks mate, was asking about weight. How different would it drive with 500k in the centre and what would the front and rear weight need to be with 500k? Thanks

    • @WeissRC
      @WeissRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@greendemon70 heavier weight oil will cause more locking action, so 500k would tend to lock the front and rear driveshafts together instead of allowing them to slip. I imagine this would cause some pretty good ballooning of the front tires during wheelies. That said, there are people who run 1 or even 2 mil in the center diff!! I've just never done it, personally. 😝

    • @PopExpo

      20k in rear, 500k in center, 60k in front. Mine are regular diffs not the LSD. So the fluid is going to effect it different.
