A diesel generator could run on bio only if the unit was used as a prime power source. Stand by units I would not recommend. But me personally as a Cummins tech for 15 years and a Caterpillar tech for 3 I would stay away from bio.
It can run on biodiesel but not recommended. As the generator sits for days the biodiesel can gel up in the fuel lines and injection pump causing damage.
