Hi, I’m from the uk, I make a sherry trifle, I put strawberry& clotted cream Swiss roll soak with sherry add cherries strawberries then I put quick jel over it made from the syrup of the fruits then I put homemade custard, patisserie cream on, then finish with thick cream decorate with cherries, mmmm lovely
I'm English and never had a trifle like that it looks awesome by the way. but it's not made the same as a trifle we used too. . We used trifle sponges ,tin fruit, jelly not( jam ) custard and double cream or dream topping. Wyth a crumpled flake sprinkled over the top. Delicious
My mother inlaw made a dish with cut up angel food cake, strawberries, coolwhip mix it up and put extra cool whip on top and stick in freezer and pull it out 15 minutes before you want to eat so yummy her daughter gave it the name Jim's Delight after her daddy because it was her daddy's favorite ❤ and mine to now❤
2 videos in one week what a treat!!! My younger sister lives in England ( her husband is an English gent) so we send food products back and forth for holidays. I send Hershey candies , Wheat Thins, and hard to find American foods and my sister send a Christmas pudding mix and a trifle kit for my girl as well as different soft drinks like Burdock and Dandelion ( which is delicious) and loads of Cadbury candies. Nice job on the trifle
Papa and Nana !! I just love you both!! You are both so sweet!!! I enjoy watching and listening to you both,, when you are cooking.😪 That truffle looked delicious!!! Your students are so lucky to have had you as a teacher!! Thanks for sharing!! 😘😝😋👔👒 Blessings!!! 🙌
The trifle bowl is very pretty. This trifle looks wonderful. I will definitely try this during the holidays. Also gran marnier orange liquor is great in trifles.
Another English girl here and I would happily eat your trifle😊. Ours where a little different in construction. We start with cubed sponge and fruit which is set in jelly, then you add a layer of custard (my favourite bit) then a layer of whipped cream with sprinkles on top with glacier cherries. That way you get to see all separate layers through the glass sides. Yum 😋
Always the star of the show, full of wit and intelligence, your students had a ball, Well it wasn't my grandmother Kit's trifle straight from Cornwall, in merry old England but it looked great.
Another beautiful dish! I’ll bet you would even make a outstanding ham sandwich! Love you and the family!❤ I’m touched how you and Nana show love to each other in every vlog. ❤️❤️🥂🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️
What a lovely unexpected Saturday afternoon treat the Papas kitchen. Triffile was such a staple in our house growing up in the 70s for afters on a Sunday and a big deal at Christmas my mum was the best at it and she would have loved your bowel and I liked you making it your own. You can buy everything in the one box now to make triffile over here as children we tryed to doge the fruit and get the custard cream and chocolate sprinkles. I want triffile now. ❤️🤗🍧

That’s a Scottish version, Sherry soaked sponge or pound cake, yes looked excellent. You all looked like you had great fun, that’s the essence of a great sharing meal💕❤️💕
Hi Jerry and Sue, hello from England! Your trifle looks wonderful. Our traditional British trifle starts with a base of plain cake or sponge fingers over which you pour jelly, which is jello in the US. You make it but with less water so that it sets a little firmer. I use about 30% less water in total per package. You make it with boiling water to dissolve it then I add some iced water to make up the rest of the water then you pour the liquid jello over the cake. You will need a few packages as it absorbs quickly into the cake. When it sets the jello cake layer is the signature of the dessert. After that you pretty much layer it to suit whatever you like finishing with a layer of custard topped with freshly whipped cream , I’d use double cream as it whips best. Your layer of strawberries and raspberries looks lovely and something I will do next time. Love your channel!
I love trifles 😍 they are also my mothers favourite dessert. The possibilities of filling are endless really, I love pastry cream in a trifle but also chocolate custard is fantastic as well. That looks wonderful
"I'm done with competitions after that last one" 🤣🤣 I have saved that vlog for the cooking directions as i haven't had a chance to try it yet. A slight variant from the trifles we have here in the UK, we tend to put the fruit and cake fingers into a jelly base! Looks very yummy though. Oh my - their reaction to your channel... PRICELESS x
My family does this with Angel food cake and actually adds a layer of strained canned pineapple, and for her fruit canned Cherry Pie filling, the custard ( same vanilla pudding) , nuts and cool whip and layers)…. Love their are so many variations thank you for sharing!
THAT LOOKS DELICIOUS PAPA & NANA . LOOKS LIKE YOU BOTH HAD A WONDERFUL TIME WITH ALL OF THE STUDENTS . STAY SAFE & GOD BLESS Y'ALL . (TAMMY FROM CALIFORNIA)
I really love your whole family and all the videos! Papa is so entertaining! And your parents story of faith and surviving such tragic incidents. Praise God that they both survive and are thriving! May the blessings of the Lord continue to shower on your entire family!!! Love you guys. Oh that bowl is beautiful and I've made this before with whatever fruit i have or is in season and i agree about the bananas. I love bananas but not in desserts. I have a triffle bowl as well. This dessert is also called a punch bowl dessert. You can make it in a punchbowl and feed a crowd ❤❤❤
Oh my goodness that vanilla strawberry trifle looked delicious . Now I have just the bowl to make it. I’ve made a chocolate one years ago which came out fairly good. Now this one that you made will top it. I’m thinking would be a nice dessert to take when invited for thanksgiving dinner. Thank you for the idea “Papa’s Kitchen”❤️
Your just incredible 😍 ❤ love truffle wow im drooling again papa 😋 dont allow anyone ,tell you anything negative about your cooking. Especially when its your home kitchen. These people just need someone to critique lol
So enjoyable. I can't wait to try this with my grandkids. I know you get a lot of comments do you think it would be okay to make like a raspberry sugar water or syrup instead of the alcohol for the children? I just love your attitudes. You guys are so sweet
We make trifle with port wine jelly (jello) and use peaches,.and saturate the cake in sweet sherry, and then of course cream and custard. Bought cake is fine as it's supposed to be stale cake I think.
thats nothing like a British trifle. im british and we put the cake on the bottom soaked in sherry. then jelly (fruit gelatine not jam) and fruit (fresh or tinned) inside the jelly to set. then custard ontop of the set jelly and fruit. and finally whipped cream ontop with either sprinkles or chocolate shavings to finish
Nope definitely not British trifle. British trifle goes like this - bottom layer is a thin layer of vanilla cake, next layer is fresh fruit with the fruit juices to soak into the cake (the fruit having been steeped in a little sugar to release the juices). The next layer is fruit jelly (Jell-O in the U.S.) same flavour as the fruit which is then allowed to set. Next layer is home made custard which is also left to set. The final layer is whipped cream with sprinkles on top and piped swirls of cream to decorate. Now that’s a traditional British trifle.
The trifle looks yummy! I used to make a super simple chocolatey trifle - Heath Bar Trifle. Layers of cubed pound cake, chocolate pudding, Cool Whip, chocolate syrup and crushed Heath bar.
